  1. My apologies for any confusion. It isn't the same stuff as patio sand, but it feels very similar in terms of the grain size. Adrian
  2. Talking of which, it was good to hear big H on t'wireless this morning, sounded like he was having a good wallow. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000w3hv Just after 0800 Adrian
  3. I've just checked my bag of Chinchilla dust, and it feels as though it has a similar grain size to the sand that I used for filling to gaps on my (12" = 1ft) patio, so my guess is that Chinchilla sand and Chinchilla dust are probably the same. It has a much coarser size than the dust which occasionally (ahem) settles in the manor house. Adrian
  4. Only on RMWeb would you find such a topic. Well researched !. Adrian
  5. Enlarging the following picture, the notice on the coupling says : "These vehicles are being electrically preheated. Locomotives or other vehicles must not be coupled to these vehicles. This notice must only be removed by C&W electrical staff" The other one is not distinct but : "Danger <something> 1000 <something> do not open" Adrian
  6. Another vote for the section through the Vale Of Mowbray, with views across to the North Yorkshire Moors. The white horse is as good a single landmark as any. Adrian
  7. Ledston Luck colliery had a narrow gauge line that led to Peckfield Colliery. Peckfield Colliery was at Micklefield (on the Leeds - York rail route), with Ledston Luck being a couple of miles to the south, the line ran along the side of the A656, just below road level. The line appeared to be very similar to the underground lines, but I don't recall seeing anything run on it. Adrian
  8. Land Rover's don't leak. They mark their territory. Mind bleach required, urgently. Adrian
  9. Black 5 (by a short head), followed by the 8F Adrian
  10. Are there licit cake chomping moments ? Adrian
  11. Sounds like a boring job. Adrian
  12. Sorry, I've clearly been living abroad for too long. Adrian
  13. And if ever thy does owt for nowt, allus do it for your sen. Adrian
  14. Sadly, as previously discussed on RMWeb, wonkypedia is know to have inaccuracies, and there are some out there who will replace corrections with the wrong information. Adrian
  15. I think a destroyer siren would be more fun. Adrian
  16. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_county_exclaves_in_England_and_Wales_1844–1974 May be of interest. Adrian
  17. I was using it for something (I forget what), and was concerned about the thickness. I discovered that it is relatively easy (if not slightly tedious) to sand the back down to a compromise point between stiffness and thickness. Nice work on the signal box. Adrian
  18. Entering Poole Harbour on a flood tide with a light southerly can be rather, err, interesting, especially when the chain ferry is running. Adrian
  19. Hmm, McD's. The only time I've been into one was in 1981 (Wembley). A group of us were passing through, and one of our number lived nearby. He came up with the idea that we'd go to McD's to get some food, and then go to his place for tea/coffee. Half the group had never heard of McD's. Adrian
  20. I'll bite. For what it's worth, I agree with you. Making a decent 3D print of anything complex takes a great deal of skill, both with the CAD side of things, and in knowing how to exploit the printer. A different set of skills to those required to scratch build, certainly, but skills all the same. Adrian
  21. Is it a trick of the camera, or is the person the left leaning out of the carriage about to head butt that post ? Adrian
