  1. Methinks it has to be the 9F. Adrian
  2. Whilst taking my morning constitutional, I came across these, I was wondering if there was anyone ewe knew ? Adrian
  3. Starting again on 12th April at 1900 on BBC4. It isn't clear if this is a repeat of the series shown last month, or a different series. Adrian
  4. After 15 years of ownership, I sold Murgatroyd (my SWB IIA Landrover) a little over 21 years ago, for a variety of reasons, which were good at the time, and still are today. But I still miss it. The good news is that when I checked with the DVLA not long ago, it was still "alive" (not SORNed or scrapped, it's tax exempt, so taxed doesn't seem right). Adrian
  5. I note that the ability to spill correctly doesn't seem to be a requirement. Adrian
  6. In response to the question "Are you civilised, or do you drink tea ?" no one there admitted to being uncivilised. Adrian
  7. This reminds me of a young lad I used to work with many years ago. Keen as mustard, always willing to help out, and learn new stuff. And, with one exception, he picked stuff up quickly. His one weak spot was making coffee. Now on the face of it, a levelish teaspoon of coffee, a couple of levelish teaspoons of sugar, boiling water and a bit of milk isn't difficult, yet he never managed to produce anything drinkable. You could stand next to him whilst he was making it, and all looked good, until you tried it. Apparently his sister used to throw his efforts at him. We never did any soldering, so I can't comment on his abilities with an iron. Adrian
  8. If I recall correctly, the first episode of the original (BBC) series has Herriot walking out of Leyburn station (back when it was a BR goods only route), then climbing onto a bus to Richmond, where he alights, before walking around a corner to find himself in the main square at Askrigg (standing in as Darrowby). Those venues used in that series would have been LNER territory. The recent Channel 5 series was largely filmed in Wharfedale, which was LMS territory. Adrian
  9. It doesn't, but thanks for the tip. It might come in useful for future models. Adrian
  10. Thanks. Unfortunately, there will be very little fret left over for me to use for testing, which is a major reason for asking. Thanks. Sounds like I might need to add to my library. Adrian
  11. I'm about to start my first loco kit build (in 4mm), and having read the instructions before I started, it says that the boiler etch should be annealed before rolling, which it suggests can be done using a socket bar. As I've got a set of the GW models rolling bars, do I need to anneal ?. The etch is 15 thou brass. If the considered opinion is that I do, what is a suitable tool for doing it. I've seen suggestions for putting it on a gas hob (which I don't have), or in a frying pan (which I suspect is unlikely to improve the flavour of my snorkers). I'm assuming some form of small gas torch, perhaps the sort of things that cooks use ?. Thanks Adrian
  12. There are some that class the Zuckosphere and Twitter as anti-social media. Getting vaguely back on topic, that is a rather splendid looking weighbridge deck. Adrian
  13. Many years ago, I was stopped in the street by two young men in shiny suits, and asked if I knew anyone who wanted to talk about god. I pointed at the nearby church and suggested that it might be a good starting point. I've not had any knocking on the door, so I've not had my chance to practice my "We're non-conformist druids, you're just in time for dinner" with an evil grin. Adrian
  14. Many thanks for the series of posts from the archive. Good luck with the return to operations. Adrian
  15. Quite apart from being some rather good pictures, nice to see some different angles appearing. Adrian
  16. I tried it once, and thought it was delicious (as did several of my dining companions). Unfortunately, it wasn't available next time we visited that restaurant. Adrian
  17. https://beta.bathnes.gov.uk/bath-clean-air-zone Gives details Adrian
  18. Since you mention Derbyshire Police being helpful... Many years (decades ?) ago, some one from the road going steam community was relating the tale of running through Derbyshire, and needing more water, so they pulled over somewhere to take water on. One of the local police stopped to see what was happening, and was rather surprised to be press ganged into helping. He was referred to the constabulary rule book which stated that when requested, constables were required to help traction engines/rollers/lorries crews take on water. I've never verified this, but it made for a good yarn. Adrian
  19. Jeff, Did you see this post ? The second video has some footage of Dent Head, and what looks like Gill Head Arten Gill right towards the end. Adrian
