  1. Pity that there isn't one around here with detailed knowledge of sheep, they might be able to help you out. Adrian
  2. Interesting picture. Apart from the odd shaped bow, in addition to the T stud, it looks as though it has a bollard on the port side of the bow, just forward of the hold. The only other narrow boat I've seen like that is Hazel, which is the only remaining Runcorn Wooden Header. Which is with the Wooden Canal Boat Society http://www.wcbs.org.uk/our-boats/hazel/ Adrian
  3. Is he trying to herd them ? Adrian
  4. Slightly better one (IMHO). Late 70s, RAF Binbrook, dusk. Two Lightnings set off down the runway, and hit the burners. All you see is two balls of flame disappear into the distance. Adrian
  5. BBC4 at 7PM this week. Walking disused track beds in Northern Ireland. Looks as though it was originally broadcast a few years. Adrian
  6. And the less said about his involvement with the Royal Padstow Lancers the better. Adrian
  7. Reminds me of my student days. One of housemates was entrusted to look after his sister's car whilst she was away. Given her driving record, he considered it appropriate to stencil two rabbits on the car door. Fortunately, she was a couple of hundred miles away before she noticed. Adrian
  8. Another vote for Cheltenham - Stratford. Adrian
  9. As the Oxford - Bletchley route is being reopened, it has to be the DN&S Adrian
  10. My recollection of the Avon (it's been a while) is that the banks are too high (but the width might be OK). I'm not sure if it would fit through the lock at Tewkesbury, and it certainly wouldn't get under King John's Bridge with the mast up. Adrian
  11. I'm not sure that I want to know how you know. Adrian
  12. I think that the banks are too high, and the channel too narrow, it looks more river like to me. Adrian
  13. Oh, a difficult one. One of the DNS and the M&SWJ. Either would be a useful route for the Southampton - Mudlands freight traffic. I think, largely because I've just reread the book on it, the M&SWJ Adrian
  14. Not just Autoroute. I was given an old Garmin sat nav, and being a bit unsure about it, I was using it for a few journeys where I knew where I was going. One of those was to visit a friend who lived just off the M4. The sat nav suggested driving up the M4, and then turning off when I got to the lane that lead up to his house (the lane crossed the motorway on a bridge). That was miles away from a junction. Secondly, I'd been up to North Wales, on the way back home in the middle of nowhere, it suddenly decided that it couldn't work out how to complete the journey (when I set off it thought it could). Not sure if it was Autoroute, or something else, there was the tale that someone had arranged a meeting at a motorway service station, and asked for directions (drive down the Mwhatever until you get there ?), instead, it took them onto the next junction, and then along the back roads back to the service (non-motorway) entrance for the service station. I think they've improved a bit since then. Adrian
  15. It should stop them falling apart when you pick them up. Adrian
  16. Nice pictures. There is a zone around the ship that small craft aren't supposed to enter (fines are available for those who do). There is usually a launch (pilot cutter type thing) in front of the ship marking the front of the zone. During one Cowes Week we could see the launch approaching and were wondering whether or not we could cross ahead of it. To out surprise, it slowed down to let us across, then set off again (which meant the rest of the fleet had to make a large diversion behind the ship). Adrian
  17. The plot thickens This morning I got a text from the NHS saying that I may receive a letter (which I've already had) inviting me to book my jab outside the county. If I have the first one there, I've got to have the second one there as well. However, the GP booking team will be in touch in the next few weeks to invite me to the local site if I would prefer. As jab one is currently arranged for 16 days time, it may well be that I've had that before the booking team get in touch. Adrian
  18. It is difficult to judge from the picture. Can you measure the height of the door (from the top of the door step), if it comes in at something like 24-26mm (6' - 6' 6" in real money) then it is probably right. Adrian
  19. Show that I'm an agreeable sort, the Padstow route for me to0. Adrian
  20. I don't know. However, talking to various people around the village (but using a different surgery), they've all been done at one of two local sites (within 4 miles), neither of which were medical centres (although one is a high street pharmacist's branch). I've not pried into their circumstances, but I think they were all called up on age (rather than health) grounds. I seem to be living like a hermit (which to an extent suits me anyway), so waiting the best part of three weeks doesn't worry me (identified cases around here are few and far between), and as someone else had commented, it is an excuse to give the jalopee a decent run. What was amusing me was that all the centres offered were basically only to the north of me, none east, south or west, and given that one was an hour up the motorway, that is quite a large area. Adrian
  21. Stratford - Cheltenham for me I think. Adrian
  22. My letter came yesterday. I went online to book, and the system suggests that the nearest centre is 20 miles away (I know of one within 3), and seemingly not one within my county. First date available was 25/3, so booked that and the second one. Adrian
