  1. My new EV doesn't have front fog lights
  2. Nelson was 5' 4" tall. His statue in London is 16' tall. That's Horatio of 3:1
  3. It was brought to my attention, that it had been cancelled on RMWeb, by a friend when I asked him if he was planning to go. Had he not done this, I (and maybe others who could have travelled much further) would have turned up at the venue assuming that the first party info (DEFine blog) was the most accurate. Thanks, from me and maybe others who were not aware, for clarifying and updating the blog.
  4. DEFine's WordPress site https://definemodellers.wordpress.com/ doesn't indicate cancelled - which is correct please?
  5. You can also use ebay Jansale15 code for a further 15% discount as I just have
  6. Well there's one thing for sure, whatever it is I won't be buying one I've an over adequate sufficiency of toy trains as it is
  7. Well I'll certainly be setting my alarm........ To go to work! I'll also be wearing a wetsuit to protect me from all the froth.
  8. Does anyone have a picture of 45101 when it was first renunbered that they would be willing to share, either on forum or by pm? 45101 was the very first renumbered loco I saw, and certainly was not in my ABC, at Sheffield not long after it was outshopped as such. Trouble is I can't remember (it was nearly 49 years ago) if it had numbers at all four corners, or indeed if it was 45.101 as some early renumbers had a . between the Class and Serial numbers. I've recently, via a tip off on Bargain Hunters, acquired a blue Peak which I will renumber to 45101 as it just fits the period I model. Also, if anyone has a couple of ETH jumpers going spare....... Thanks in anticipation.
  9. Why did the garden spade become so popular? Because It was a ground breaking invention.
  10. Or for the digital age..... When 2B OR NOT 2B is the question, FF is the answer. To those who take delight in pointing out repeat posts, I acknowledge that I may have posted this before. I just can't be @rsed to check
  11. A little earlier this thread drifted a bit into bendibuses, those discussions contained some inaccuracies. https://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/topic/92-bendy-buses/?do=findComment&comment=105660
  12. Same here. If only there were more people with that approach to driving, I'm sure the experience would be far less fraught.
  13. There used to be a separate test for driving articulated buses, presumably for the same reasons.
  14. Except when that automatic reponse (though I'm not sure a response can be automatic, a 'reaction' may be automatic but a response suggests some sort of thought processing - i.e. Mirror Signal Manouevre) becomes the 'excuse' for not observing... I'm only reflecting what the IAM promote in their training, which is essentially to look, look and look again (all of the time). I find these days that many pedestrians won't even see a signal - they're always staring at their phones. Cyclists, even the less amateur ones often have earphones of some description firmly wedged in their ears (yes I know that doesn't affect vision), but it does affect concentration which is identified in Highway Code rule 148. Would you believe I've even seen a motorcycle rider texting whilst riding? In any case, like vehicle drivers, other road users should be certain that any signalled intent is representative of the intended action - how often do you see drivers still indicating 'right' when actually leaving a roundabout? The key here is continuous observation. Continuous observation means that any road user is more likely to be aware of all hazards at all times
  15. Spotted in Tesco earlier today: FFS!
  16. Indeed; good drivers are generally the ones who don't need to tell others how good they are I think (know) I may have said this elsewhere in this thread.
  17. I wasn't suggesting that they should move out of anyone's way, as that implies the indicating driver's intent is to manoeuvre anyway (maybe without looking or caring). What I would do, and hope of others, is just to look ahead see what might be developing and then behind to see if it would be possible to aid other drivers by creating space for them. You know, along the lines of not being selfish, oh and 'mirror signal manoeuvre' if indeed learner drivers are still taught that procedure. SWMBO often indicates regardless; I look and decide whether there is any other road user who may benefit from such an indication - if not, no need
  18. A source of wonderment for me is drivers who simply don't make space i.e. even when an offside lane is clear, they do not move over to allow a signalled overtaking manoeuvre to be completed by someone on their nearside. What happened to enforcement of the stop the lane hogging principle? Has anyone ever seen it occur?
  19. Surely the function of any 'F' key depends on how it's mapped in the decoder rather than the controlling handset? I know there are acceoted guidance standards for such things, NMRA etc., but there is no necessity to adhere to these for function mapping if the sound project designer so chooses.
  20. Did you resolve the issue you were experiencing? Would be beneficial to others asking the same/similar question as yours.
  21. Usually F2; but best to check the 'F' key allocation for the fitted sound project as Soul Survivor mentions. Requires throttle to be at 0 then pressing F2 stop the loco.
  22. I think the fact that they can't even quote the running number correctly (6502 in the pic; 6522 in their description) goes along way to explaining much about their other impaired descriptions. They even acknowledge that the renumbering is messy - almost as messy as the ad itself.
