  1. Nonsense Clive, I have followed your posts on many threads, no problems for me to know what your'e saying and as in many replies here, people obviously know what you mean......spelling/grammar or whatever bullsh*t the pedants wish to purvey(and aren't they generally the same ones!!) doesn't really matter as long as the post carries the meaning/message you want it to and yours are readily understood. Rgds........Mike
  2. I used to frequent Branchline in Croydon when I lived in Victoria, nearly twenty years ago, it was about 20 minutes from home and very handy, their stock was incredible and what they didn't have,(which was very little) they would order in. Yes they were expensive compared to Hattons etc. but I could go there and find Portescaps, Gibson product, DJH kits and lots of other goodies not easily obtainable locally. Never asked for and never expected a discount, the service, advice etc. was worth more than a few paltry dollars. Mike
  3. A few years ago we were visiting Banrock Station Winery wetlands on the Murray River, a magnificent place to see the the local wildlife.Walking along one of the boardwalks over the water we came across a young English couple staring at some aquatic activity. We approached them and asked what they were so interested in, they pointed out this tiger snake very close to the boardwalk swimming along and striking at a carp which was rolling on the surface............they were entranced and far too close to the animal, Ooooh!! our first Australian snake, one of them said, my mate's retort was, if you don't back off, it could well be your last!! Mike
  4. My volume of Steams Lament "The Standard Pacifics" arrived here in OZ early this week............Brilliant content, thank you so much. Rgds......Mike

  6. Hornby Royal Scot 46146 The Rifle Brigade in absolutely perfect nick for sixty-five quid.......well pleased Another person matched my bid, so for another quid he/she could have won Mike
  7. Are they doing 10201/2 in green or am I missing something?? Also slightly off topic is anyone aware if Bachmann are doing 10001 in the same livery as 10000? Mike
  8. Not sure if this counts but 46245 "London" came from Crewe to Derby in the early sixties(1961???) for the Railway Agricultural Show as did 46251 "Nottingham" and I believe 46247 "Liverpool" put in at least one appearance on a special over the S&C. Late in their life they were to be seen on the North Wales route..........but to me they were always the West Coast Magnus Opus. Superb engines Mike Mike
  9. Poor souls, this is one brilliant model!. hope it's not financial reasons for them. Mike

  11. I once took my shoes off on a flight...most of the passengers decided to disembark, 30000 feet over the Southern Ocean!!!! Mike
  12. But they don't hurt you(I've had them on my head and neck) it's the shock value. I am sure they enjoy. Mike
  13. You would be cured of constipation very quickly when a large Huntsman(big hairy spider) drops from behind the rear view mirror and into your lap!!. Had one on my outside front wind screen many years ago when I set for the City(Melbourne). After travelling for approx half an hour, including some 100kmh. stuff, when I reached my destination it was still clinging to the guttering next to the rear window...........incredible creatures...........I swear he said thanks for the lift mate!! Mike
  14. Re: The hard hat/hi-vis issue: we( Ruth and I) find it incredulous that they think they are impressing the general populous, when in our experience most people think it is something akin to poor acting(which it is!). I would rather have Hacker and Humphrey than Trump, May,Putin,Turnbull, Abbot and old uncle Tom Cobbley and all etc. at least we would have a little humour in a pathetic situation. Hard to believe the influence these plonkers have over our lives!!!! Mike
  15. Yes but the most slimy, dangerous and poisonous ones wear big hats or budgie smugglers and work in Canberra. Mike
  16. That must be saved for posterity! when the time comes for it to be replaced, someone pm me and if I am still on the planet I will donate. Mike
  17. One of the things that I have always disliked about model passenger trains is wobbly coaches...........yours have none they look brilliant, rock steady, whats the secret?? is it the track? Mike
  18. This guy and his party leader are absolute idiots...........still trying to figure why folks vote for Katter, his offsider got in by default.
  19. 60 years ago we had steam passing on this line, Newton Heath Jubilees, twice a day for a while , lots of 9F's, Duck 6"s. 8 freights ,,,,,,,,heaven! and all the time catching a the occasional fish, Jubilees 45700/01/2 and Brit 70048 were regulars). I still have the memory of a grubby 9F pushing through the mist at 5am at Swarkestone, a wonderful evocative memory. Mike
