  5. I am so very sorry to hear this Allan, I have always loved your inspirational modelling and sense of humour, I hope that your future and painlessness stay as long as possible. I too was a smoker for over 50 years, the last number of which were a 50 a day habit, I gave up in 2004 but still fear the possible consequences. All the best and good luck mate. Rgds.Mike
  6. Sincere condolences, I doubt I could survive such a thing. Rgds.....Mike
  7. Unbelievable!!, it was a great pub, thanks Andy. Two things I miss about the UK......English pubs and Derby County, still the Aussie pubs have come a mighty long way since 1971 and I love Aussie Rules so I'm happy. Mike
  8. I have never stolen food either........but then again I haven't been neutered!! (thank goodness.............. not sure that it would make too much difference these days tho') . Mike
  9. Hmmmmmmmm!!!, Always the best cure for flu' in Derby is a beer festival a wonderful cure , I KNOW!, I was born there and lived there for almost 25 years. Used to fish in the Trent and Mersey canal at Weston-on-Trent(we called it Wesson) and used to frequent The Plough but for the life of me, I can't remember whether it was at Wesson or Assen(Aston), perhaps you can enlighten me Andy ?? Best wishes to all on here who are suffering ill health. Rgds....Mike
  10. Anything related to the comings and goings in Canberra really should be in the "Forum Jokes" thread. Mike
  11. Heaven to me would be a return to '' The Field" at Tamworth as it was in the Summer of '58 Mike
  12. Although I agree with whats been said here i am almost in agreeance with what happened , Through fate I was allowed to see the last "glory" days of steam as well as witnessing the early transition to diesels.................guess I was lucky Mike
  13. Many many thanks for all of these photos, although I had lost a lot of interest after 1963 ish! , I will never forget the shock, watching the tele in 1968 seeing the last scheduled steam hauled train on the news. I had seen steam engines built in the 40s ,50s, and as late as 1960 running, what plonkers decided that machines capable of another 30 plus years service should be put to the torch. Sorry Andy but pollies of all persuasions should be held accountable for these sort of actions. Mike
  14. My father in law(86) has recently been told he must never drive again, he suffers dementia and does not enjoy good health, just prior to the ban,I received a call from my sister in law to let us know he had suffered a black out at the local shopping centre, his heart had stopped and he was rushed to hospital. I said to her he must not drive that car again ever! Oh no she said, the geriatrician said he must keep driving until he is unable to recognise traffic lights, stop signs etc. Where does this thinking come from?!!, how many people does he have injure/kill before the geriatrician says, perhaps no more driving Frank. Anyway his GP examined him and removed his licence immediately, at last some common sense thank goodness. I'd never heard of a geriatrician before but I suspect I will become more familiar with them in the not too distant future. Mike
  15. Yeah, I've got ten of ' em, whilst they don't kill you(unlike most of Ozzie creatures, they have painful pecks!!.........I know !!) but their eggs are beyond compare, we have people absolutely in the wait line for ours.............what they don't know is that they follow my dog around waiting for her to have a crap then get stuck into it...........don't eat eggs meself!! Mike
  16. How do we send this thread to the two fat men with funny haircuts Mike
  17. I hope Mr Goddard, whatever your situation is, and I hope it can/will be overcome, that you will continue at some future point to inspire/enthrall us with your modelling abilities, they are second to none!!, My very best wishes for your future; Rgds.........Mike
  18. Hmmmmmmmm JANUARY 10 2018 SAVE PRINT Snake hitches a ride from Eden to Pambula Snake sightings are an inevitable part of our Australian summer – but you don't expect to see them wrapped around your car's side mirror while you're driving. However, that is what Nolan's Auto Parts Pambula employee Ted Ogier saw on Wednesday, January 10, when driving along the highway to Pambula from Eden. Nolan's Auto Parts Pambula employee Ted Ogier didn't expect to see a snake on his car's side mirror when driving along the highway to Pambula from Eden. Photo: Nolan's Auto Parts, Pambula Mr Ogier was returning from Eden after making deliveries when a red belly black snake dropped down on to his windscreen from the vehicle's roof. After failed attempts to enter the vehicle, the excitable reptile then tried to enter the driver's side window after first wrapping itself around the car's side mirror. Photo: Nolan's Auto Parts, Pambula After travelling with the reptile for some time, Mr Ogier pulled over at Oaklands Event Centre near Pambula and rang his manager, Kai Pearse, for assistance. "What do I do here? I have a snake on my bonnet!" Mr Ogier told Mr Pearse over the phone. Advertisement When Mr Pearse arrived at Oaklands he saw the snake on the roof of the vehicle, which he described as being between 2 and 2.5 metres long. After some careful manoeuvring, the snake was ushered away with a broom before it slithered safely into a nearby paddock. Photos of the encounter have received a huge response on social media, with some commenting that the car needed to be torched now. Photo: Nolan's Auto Parts, PambulaThis is not the first time Nolan's employees have encountered native wildlife. Last year, Mr Pearse and his staff witnessed and helped remove a kangaroo that entered their Pambula store. 19. Yes the night sky is something to behold, I remember a few years ago one of our guests laid on our decking and just took in the whole scene for an hour or so, incredible. Mike
  20. That's very confronting to us over 70s Mike
  21. Those little Kitsons are brilliant, thought there woulds be a RTR version by now Mike
  22. I watched most of it too, finding it interesting but little a tiny bit repetitive (scenery wise) in parts, not sure I could handle 17 hours though. I traveled on the Trans-Australian many years ago and it was my first look at the real Outback, it really was a fascinating three days, since then I have done the whole circuit by car and whilst there are many fantastic and interesting places to visit in Oz, it's a bloody long way between them!! I have to say though the absence of ads and canned music was an absolute bonus. Rgds Mike
