  1. That is an evil post!!! Some months ago I was persuaded by SWMBO to become a vegie (almost;still eat fish, seafood etc.), still going through withdrawal symptoms though!. Yesterday, I had to go to Yankalilla where, on Main Street lives this superb traditional butcher.........the smells of the produce as I walked past the door,especially the small goods made me reel(and drool), the pork pies looked melt in the mouth stuff.....I nearly weakened but wishing to hang on to my most valuable pieces of meat.....walked on. Best wishes to all in need especially Debs and Andyram, I lost my father-in-Law on the weekend, he was 86 and it was expected, still hard though but 16, everything to look forward to and to take your own life an absolute tragedy. Whatever you may think about today's kids, I am so glad I was not subjected to the pressures they are. Mike

I visited Crewe Works in late 1961, electric locos were being constructed there, it was a long time ago and my memory is not what it was so could anyone tell me what class they would be??...........AL1 seems to ring a bell? Incidentally Duchess of Montrose was being overhauled there in a sickly undercoat of LNER green..........Sir Bill would have turned ...........She was withdrawn just over a year later Mike

You really do have to wonder..........The most popular era,evidently is the transition era (steam to diesel), red and green, no TTS Duchesses would surely sell in greater numbers than blue and black ones ............as attractive as they may be!!     Hi Manna, Just returned to your thread after a while away, the layout looks fantastic. Question.........is that Deltic one of the ones you got from me?, if so you've completed it in just a couple of years( maybe less) I had those kits for at least 20 years and did nowt!! (chickened out and bought the Bachmann NRM one). Anyway it looks absolutely brilliant...great work. Mike.......... in Inman Valley South Oz.
  9. Mine arrived today......popped her on the rolling road .....smooth as silk and silent,,,,,,,,,,,also received a patriot from ebay again beautifully great performance on the rolling road and virtually silent. Mike
  10. Yes, this work is the best I have ever seen, most weathering I have seen, does not does not look authentic and I have left my locos in plain plastic just because I end up with caricatures which end up scrapped.........beautiful work Mike
  11. This layout is brilliant!; but Stanier Pacifics being more prevalent North of Crewe??, I copped most of them at Tamworth so not sure about that comment unless you are talking about post 1961/2..............Anyway doesn't matter.......still looking forward to seeing you in Adelaide Mike

I have to agree, Chloe has a very understanding dad! and dad has a wonderful love for his daughter, (TRAINS UNITE!!), I have always bemoaned the fact that I have not had the room for a railway but you have made me re think!! I am now in planning mode subject to permission from SWBO. Rgds......MIke
