  1. I've not been bitten by a redback but a mate that has reckoned it was very painful and the effects lasted for ages. Itches etc, Coopers Pale Ale helped though!!......the panacea for just about everything. Gotta agree with that Mike
  2. No not never Caesar!! do not disfigure this beauty..................mines on its way to OZ YaaaY!! Mike
  3. Yup, we always have squillions ..............and they're all called Harold!!!!!!! We are also gonna have a red back family in the fodder shed as I see dad has been bitten and gone to red back heaven and mum is protecting all those little silk nursery balls Hey that's nature !!! Mike

  5. Interesting, back in 60's my Hornby Dublo Duchess would only after a time would only crawl around my layout and eventually died albeit producing some spectacular smoke effects whilst stationary! I didn't do anything about it for ages until my dad said............we paid 5 pounds for this, let's send it back to Hornby which we did, A couple of weeks later it came back with a brand new chassis, nickel silver plated wheels (I think)......no charge, just an apology for the inconvenience caused...........spectacular service Mike
  6. Yes, you are right Blue Streak, we have had them on our property from time to time close to 7 feet tall..........you don't approach them!! the last Winter after rain, the footprints in the mud showed the claws on the hind legs to be about 5 inches long and apparently razor sharp. I have a cattle dog (a Coolie) and before I let her go for a run, I check to see there aren't any around because she will try to herd them. A mate of mine lost his heeler to just such a creature, the poor thing was disembowelled, I won't go into a description of the injuries Also they can be very unpredictable, one of the local blokes had been repairing fencing and had seen this Roo watching him, this continued for four or five days before, without any warning the Roo attacked him......he ended up in hospital, quite badly injured. They are wild animals and you have to respect that...........Skippies they ain't! Mike
  7. You're bloody lucky Monkeys.......I hit one in similar circumstances a couple of years ago, it was just after dawn and because my night vision is not the best I was doing around 20 KPH, it jumped out from nowhere, hit and destroyed my radiator and airco compressor..............3 effing grand, yes he was a big bastard, did get a bit back from the insurance company but not all.............the Roo ...........I swear it gave me the fingers and took off into the bloody scrub!! Mike
  8. Hey Ilsley, if you are reading this thread(and I suspect you may be) and given your reasons for producing this model, when do you think the revamped Princess will be available, soon I hope.........because I don't want to be in the next world before you do!! Hattons........... I am waiting for Bill mike
  9. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! Mike
  10. We have just had a case in Gulf St Vincent at Normanville ( South Australia) where a 4.5 white Pointer Shark attacked a kayak with a young girl on board, Her father, who rescued her thank goodness is calling for the shark too be "culled".....................No!! you were in it's domain, you want to kayak. do it where the sharks don't live....idiot!!. There are numerous places on the Fleurieu Peninsular where you can safely kayak. I actually know this clown, he has a property near Mount Compass, which has 7 acres of water on it, that's where his daughter should be in her boat. Mike
  11. There was a regular northbound Saturday working in 1959 which passed through Tamworth(Low) in the early evening around 6-6.30 I seem to recall. It appeared shortly before we boarded our train back to Derby. They were the only diesels I ever saw on the WCML except for a few DMU's, until my last visit to Litchfield in 1963. Having been away from the scene for a couple of years, it was a complete shock!! just procession of class 40's very little steam, so boring, I never went again. Mike
  12. Perhaps the name, livery!! and portrayal of the last two Ivatt locomotives, when I copped 56 & 57 in the late fifties I did not notice the detail differences..... although they were hurtling through Tamworth at 80 plus but at Crewe when they were stationery.......different story! I always thought that these versions would be popular, think I might be right for once . Mike
  13. Not a Western man but those engines look brilliant, Mike
  14. Horrible...........and we still don't learn, Mike .
  15. I had a short trip(maybe 20 km) in the rear seat of a Dual cab Holden, it was the most uncomfortable car journey I have ever been on. Mike
  16. Saw the first red bellied black snake of the season today, when it saw(sensed) me and the dog it wriggled at speed into the wood shed where I spent around 5 hours cutting yesterday still they belong here!...... I don't. Mike
  17. Great photos one and all, BUT, I could not, emotionally, watch the final demise of these engines, Once I read that my beloved Duchesses were starting to be withdrawn at the end of 1962 and that many of the Princesses had already gone. Seeing Scots, Jubilees and Patriots with sacking over their chimneys at the various depots we had visited was too much, that was it! Only a couple of years before, these locomotives were heading crack expresses, most in good condition and to be sent to the scrapyard years before their time was a bloody crime.........unbelievable! Next time I was reminded of this debacle, was when I saw the news on the tele showing the last run of steam, having(then) for years, lost interest. Mike
  18. Allan.........you are a bit of a worry, for the last thirty years or so I have been admiring your skills which suggest that you are(were) a quiet studious model maker.............apparently not so! you were a hell raiser like the rest of us baby boomers!!! Still love your model architecture though, Rgds........Mike
  19. If he's still hungry......I can help Mike
