  1. I wonder if the Crewe issue needs spinning off into its own thread. I had a slow journey to Manchester yesterday from London via Stoke as this issue also requires a single train in a block between Prestbury and just south of Stockport. The Pendeliono I was on had to wait 30 mins to go into the block and then had issues once through which required according to the train manager a complete restart of the train/computer. As I had to visit Greenfield I chose to take the valid alternative route of Transpennine to Leeds and then LNER to KGX. It a lovely evening so had actually very pleasant between Greenfield and Huddersfield. First time I had been through in daylight since about 1983.
  2. Customer services did get back to me, arranged collection of the one whose box was damaged in postage and then sent a replacement. The replacement was fine although still had the borderline packaging. I think they need one size bigger box and twice as much bubble wrap.
  3. J3246 looks like when a plan to run HO scale on OO doesn't come off and the said HO scale engine just ends up on a lowmac.
  4. After a delay which they apologised for Hornby have confirmed they are going collect my damaged Captain Tom Moore and ship a replacement. There was a flood at DPD Hub around the 12th which impacted by parcel being delivered. I also wonder if the panic of moving parcels away from the flood was also the cause of the damaged box. Anyway tomorrow DPD will collect the damaged item and in a day or so replacement should arrive.
  5. So do I, still waiting though so will have to chase in the morning.
  6. Sadly mine got stuck at DHL Birmingham for 7 days and then was badly bashed on delivery. Waiting to hear back from customer services as the keen to get a replacement box and locomotive. Waiting to hear back from Customer Services.
  7. Or a train without any passengers. I will also get my coat...... although a bit warm for one today.
  8. Shame you couldn't get a night on the train and then a few days work up in Scotland after you had done the Rugby to Stafford stretch.
  9. Love the off centre rood top cab on these. Something I didn't know about until 5 mins ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SNCF_Class_X_3800
  10. I thought I would share this interesting article from the BBC website about a black train guard who broke the whites only bar in place at Euston in the 60's. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-53449027 I recognise for some its political but I don't believe racism is apolitical subject. Although trade unions have done and continue to do lots of good these colour bars are one of their most shameful moments.
  11. Looks fresh out of the box. Last time I saw it was around 2010 round the back of the roundhouse at Barrow Hill. Looking forward to seeing it on a tour.
  12. Its also on Youtube https://youtu.be/9ei6vNKUJvs. Thanks for sharing the film as there is a shot at 3:50 which has my road (Fleet Road) and house in it. Also shows a view I have never scene from before some of the houses were knocked down for flats.
  13. It does help they have plenty trains back to Waterloo. Or as they are cleaning Wimbledon.
  14. Choice of a LMR 57 who is father of the pride or his young brother BR D0260. Mind you it could have protected Lion's Holt Halt.
  15. Perhaps the previous one was damaged and the S&T had to replace it in a rush.
  16. Does anyone know if this is a BR, LMS, LNER or SR signal. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-london-53052951/coronavirus-london-zoo-reopens-after-lockdown Might need a close inspection in person to determine correctly.
  17. As ever loving your photos slg. Funny to see the Scotrail 47 at Clapham Junction, that must have been a rare sighting. Then of course we would have never dreamed of ever seeing 73's in regular service in Scotland.
  18. We went to the pre event at Bold Colliery which was brill and I think free. Not sure how many days before the main event this was but most although not all of the exhibits were present. The APT certainly wasn't. Also many of the locomotives arrived under their own steam and for many was the last time the steamed in public. If I remember correctly one of the steam engines rescued a failed fright train in the run up as well.
  19. You have to expect a few ripples as its 55 nearly 56 years old. I know I have a few and I am two years younger.
  20. So glad I had moved to London and didn't witness the destruction of Victoria. I have of course been back since and hate the new or not so new side now of the station. At least they have done a nice job of the remaining Victorian part of the station in the recent restoration/upgrade.
  21. Me too, for some reason although Manchester based never went to Wigan or Warrington but would go to Crewe, York, Sheffield and Chesterfield. Glad I did Sheffield as I did get to Tinsley and see the hump and the 13's on two occasions. However, I wasn't allowed to do so on my own until 13.
  22. Retiro station one of the main stations in Buenos Aires used to be very run down when I visited in 2009. Sadly can't find pictures from then. However visited again last October and it now looks great.
