  1. Here is a professional cyclist explaining why two abreast is safer: https://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/latest-news/chris-boardman-explains-why-cyclists-ride-two-abreast-in-new-safety-video-187215 A HGV in the UK I believe has a maximum width of 2.55m which is clearly less than two 1.7m wide smart cars.
  2. DAS000397 - is that now where the A55 road is and the railway is underneath, or is the road above? DAS000405 - wondering if anyone has an ID for the yellow shunter in the foreground. Thanks.
  3. This might not be the right place to ask, but can you print off the digital issue?
  4. It's making it very tempting to part with mine, not that I want to really.
  5. My avoidance of roads wherever possible has nothing at all to do with confidence, it's to do with a strong sense of self-preservation. To "mix-it" in normal road traffic these days as a cyclist is playing russian roulette, until everyone realises that they and their fellow road users are not immortal and start behaving as such it will continue to get worse. Them arriving at their destination without delay is more important than someone's life. Until this attitude changes avoidable "accidents" will continue to happen.
  6. Same here, it's actually stopping me from progressing my layout as I'm concerned my modelling abilities won't match up to the picture in my mind.
  7. I have a bell I always use, that is almost always ignored. Those tell tale white wires from the ears or the head down buried in their phone are usually the cause. As long as you can hear the bell and choose a side of the path to go to and not wander aimlessly across it when you hear it, there shouldn't be anyone who has a problem.
  8. This won't have affected me being a subscriber, but I have a stack of unwatched dvds from the covers and the 3d mag went straight in the recycling. So my view, being that of one person, would be I'd rather just have the magazine on it's own for less. I'm assuming I'm in the minority though as I'm sure they track each issues sales figures so know what appeals to most.
  9. Just noticed your location, if want a bit more support than can be achieved on here or just to talk trains, put the world to rights, whatever, I'll see what I can do.
  10. I thought it was Damaged, Hidden, Lost.
  11. Another one where the level of detail is amazing, all the pulleys for operating the signals and posts for signal wires (couldn't tell if there were wires present) and operating semaphores. The open windows etc on the engine shed too.
  12. Some good coverage on the local news, I do wonder if the clash with the Airshow on the Saturday when it was good weather played a part. I almost came back on the Sunday. The only problem I had with the traders is I didn't have any cash to spend! In terms of catering is it not possible to get the school to open up the canteen? Or is it too far through the school etc? Those complaining what did you want that they didn't have? Catering will always be subjective, places like York Racecourse where they are used to, set up for and regularly cater for large numbers wanting food will always have an advantage. Those not in venues with incumbent facilities will always be at a disadvantage. Having said that, we walked all the way the centre of Glasgow and back rather than eat at the SEC this year.
  13. House!!!!! We are playing "management BS bingo here aren't we?
  14. Saw this today, I just kept coming back to it. The level of detail and operation (banking etc) is astonishing.
  15. You'd get the train to Newcastle Central then probably a metro to North Shields then a bit of a walk.
  16. I'm hoping to kick start mine with a visit to Railex NE then Thirsk this weekend. Problem is, I'll be all fired up about modelling by Sunday evening then have to spend the next 5 days at work!
  17. What are the chances of tickets being valid both days, for those of us who enjoy Saturday and want to come back Sun?
  18. Americans seem to stress the first syllable, like "eye-raq" (Iraq). This topic reminds me of my room 101, which is when people say "PCB Board" !
  19. Please do keep posting, some of us though we don't have any interaction right now are watching with interest. We do appreciate the time you're spending to share these with us. Once you get round to Doncaster (or anywhere east coast) I'm sure I'll have questions and comments.
  20. I got round this by opting for large radius curved points, it has introduced an 's' bend but hopefully it will be nice and sweeping.
  21. Or not, as the uncoupling magnets need to be bought and fitted first as they go under the track buried in the cork. Oh well, I'll ballast the test plank or can lay the track formations dry to see if they look right or something. I've had cbt before (not whatever 'chard googled!) but I find it sortof "wears off" with time. Seriously considering a self-referral for talking therapy or something as I could use a touch of support. Maybe I'm just really busy right now which tends to ratchet it up, there's only so much leaning on family members you can do too (everyone has their own challenges, too). Maybe it will pass by itself again, who knows.
  22. I may get some track laid this weekend, or at least steps towards it.
  23. I've yet to see a dog peeing up a lamppost modelled, with liquid flowing and the appropriate aroma
