  3. Hi, ho, hi ho, and on to work we go, with a loco kit, and a tube of stick, Hi, ho, hi ho, In our cave the whole day through, to stick, and stick and stick, and stick It's what we like to do, It 'ain't no trick To stick it quick. with a brush or stick ........... Oooopps! ..... J
  4. Nice day for it too .................................... :sungum: ................................................................... but shouldn't someone go with her ..... I know how ladies tend to have a mind of their own ... but ... i/c Nav?? J
  5. Looking good. Nice how bits of "clutter" help the look of a layout - even unpainted, that's a bit of a lesson for me .................. ........... and my excuse [thanks] to go out and buy a small number of bits today ..... :sungum: J
  6. I guess they are pre-empting the flood of environ-mental complaints from people who would be able to see the white colour of the water being dumped in the sea and spread by wave-action/currents ... .... just imagine their switchboard ..... choked by the calls complaining of rocks being whitened, tap water pouring out white, Tim Peake photographs the streak reflecting sunlight for theDover Environment Action Group, a new breed of white lobster seen in the harbour, children unable to go swimming for fear of the white stuff blocking their sweaty little pores, cancellation of cross-channel swimming as the chalk mixes with insulation fat causing confusion with Yarksheer Pud batter, fish dying in millions close to extinction because of the chalk coating their gills, medical ailments from eating the fish, the beautiful beach changing colour, global cooling because the sun is reflected of the newly whitened beach, whales beached because they can no longer see where they are going, fishing boats sinking because of the additional hull weight as the chalk sticks to it, smugglers sneaking past HMC&E coming camouflaged out of the sea in the mists, boat cooling systems clogged up causing them to overheat, ferries crashing into sandbanks because the depth transponders are getting false returns reflected from the chalk in the water, the Navy complaining their underwater incomming immigrant boat detector likewise blocked signals and .. oh yes there is bound to be terrible smell, although some may counter-claim it is better than the normal one from France.
  7. It seems to be the top ones - is that correct David? If so then would that be to contain any forces that might tend to crumble the concrete at the top - looser chalk than the bedrock and vibration from passing trains - RaR? J
  8. WOW .............. just following the basic idea is awesome enough, without having to work out how ...... That got me wondering what MOJO stood for ..... hmm ... not in the dictionary. [on the other hand - Yugoslavia was] .............................. ...................... Ooh ............... might be some form of Acronym ................. ....................... must be something to do with trains ......... ................... MOJO = Machiavellian Obsessional Joining Operation = Mesmerising Occupational Juggernaut Odyssey = Massive Object Juggling Oblivion = Magnificent Omnipotent Junction Orchestration = Manic Occular Jumbling Optimism = Misuse Of Job Obligations = Mad Odd Juvenile Opiate Regards J
  9. 2 counts I noticed to date. First the seaward and cliffside piles were angled outwards towards the lower end, which looked like a means to give sideways stability. Second, they had a Beam at approximately half-way down the Piles - I was wondering how they might manage that one ............. but they seem to have thought quite a bit about how, so time may yet call me "Thomas" J
  10. Oh, my goodness, yes! .................... ............... so much better to shape the stuff standing up! ..... J
  11. Interesting H&S item to note in Post #1515, where they use Shackles direct to the top ring of the cage when it is swung to the hole, then change to open jaw hooks on the Shackles, once it is in the hole, safe from swinging. I guess it may have to have hooks when in the hole, as it looks to be a bit far in to reach the Shackle Bolts, to undo them. [Gone are the days when little kids could be sent on such tasks when tunnel/chimney space was limited. ] J
  12. Thanks for the heads-up. That looks very nice indeed, particularly the cream interior. Perhaps the other 94s might arrive at the same time. I will go and check the 94 where I pre-ordered and see what they have to say about it.
  13. He would have to hire a boat [the Tiger Moth is in for servicing this month.] to get face on pictures ...... ........ or does the Sweat-shop have software to un-perspectivitize the pictures already taken? J
  14. No - the screen shots you kindly put in #1489. [The ones on the outer rows look to be angled outwards, on the screen-shot.] J
  15. The piles which have been ground down are not along the centre row of the Piles. The ones on the outer rows look to be angled outwards, on the screen-shot. So the Piles, other than the ones in the centre row, may be for rock-bed testing purposes only, since they were vertical bores and hence ground down out of the way. Regards J
  16. Thank you David, I had seen the [orange] Clamps and your earlier Post. I Posted about the [yellow] curved attachments, a little further up the wire cages, but the pictures of the joint close up are interesting in themselves.
  17. When the wire cages were lying on the ground, the little yellow bits on the wire reinforcements looked rather like ties to bind the wires together .... but in the #1428 shots, it now looks more like they are spacers to keep the reinforcement wire central, before the concrete sets. J
  18. 2 x weekends ago, I finally gave in to the female voices in the family and took them to see the Lakes ............... accompanied [of course] by warnings to ensure to be wearing the sturdy waterproof clothing. ........ anyone remember the weather 2 weeks ago ............... yep, that's the one! ........ brilliant sunshine throughout ... ............................... and now my reputation is that of the ancient wimpy old f**t- who can't tolerate a bit of mist first thing in the morning. I was forced to drive them to the new bridge, built by the Army, at Pooley bridge, at the top of Ullswater to replace the heavy Granite one, swept away by loads of the wet stuff, this winter and remind them that the average rainfalls of Salisbury are around 30" per year .... which they complain about quite frequently ......... ......................... and the Lakes getting a mere 200" ... Regards WOF
  19. ............................... Hmmmmm? ............................. ................... Hummm hum hum huummm huummm hum hum/hum huummm ................. You know it's there .......... Hum hum hum/hum hum huummm huummm huummm ......... This is ... hum ... silly ... hum hum hum huummm .....
  20. ............. All-together now ....... And did those feet, in ancient times walk upon Dover's, cliffs on high. And were those tall cranes boring holes on Dover's railway frontage seen. Bring me my Drill of hardened steel: Bring me my tubes and wi-yer cage: Bring me Ce-ment: O clouds unfold! Bring me my loco full of fire! I will not cease from Hilltop leers, Nor shall my camera cease from pics: Till we have built all Dover's Piers, In Englands green & pleasant Land. PS. Must be Thor's day humour ..... how many of you still have the tune rattling round, refusing to go to sleep? .....
  21. If you need anything specific, I may be able to go and get some. Regards Julian
  22. Phoned the Lifeboat for a rescue, but they said they were busy on their Syrian, Channel Transfer Service ..... J
  23. Perhaps that's because ........ .................................. having cut the hole ............................... ...................... watching cement pour, is less "boring". J ....... Hat coat, donned ... exit stage left right left left ......
