  1. Just came across this on Flickr, showing a coupling failure on a Mark 3 in 1989. There's a description of the incident on the Flickr page: Broken Coupling (6) by Banchango, on Flickr
  2. I added some more to my layout thread and the b&w ones turned out better this time. This is the b&w version of the first picture above:
  3. A colour and a black & white entry from me. Cannon Street and Willesden Jct trains have been stabled at Bromley North on Thursday night, awaiting their Friday morning rush hour duties.
  4. Found DJMDave's post from 14th February 2013 that might be useful: "Here's a little tip that's 85% successful in the customers I tell it to. It maybe that the gear has gone a little too far on the worm meaning that the motor operates but the signal doesn't. Try operating the signal as normal via the switch. At the same time flick (yes flick) the top or bottom of the signal, depending on which way the arm will go if properly operating. Strangely enough this should re engage the gear with the arm, although you might have to flick a couple of times for success. If that doesn't work it's back to the place of purchase for replacement. Fingers crossed Cheers Dave"
  5. The only thing I can remember hearing about in this thread was the signal arm not moving and advice being given that flicking a part of the mechanism helped it to unstick. It's somewhere in the previous 20 pages.
  6. Looks just like a pasted-on backscene: 40178 Shotton 070979 by 24082CH, on Flickr
  7. Same question I posted in the Model Rail thread, in case some don't look there: There is a question mark raised in the Facebook comments as to whether the white should actually be cream. Can anyone confirm which it should be? Best picture I have been able to find, which looks white: http://www.flickr.co...N02/6263638748/
  8. I always liked these units in this livery and think Bratchell have done a good job with this kit. Lights will definitely improve the look. Regarding the formation, the DTS goes next to the ATS and the DTC with the first class area goes next to the PMS. The DTS is the B end, so that end of the formation next to the ATS spells BATS! As you have done, the toilet is always next to the pantograph.

  10. Great pictures as always but, officially, I can't be seen to be condoning the move to privatisation-era stock
  11. http://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/product/39834/X9659_Hornby_DCC_Decoder_for_use_with_Sentinel_Diesel_Locomotive You might want to confirm with Hornby that this is the one they recommend as it is listed elsewhere as for 0-6-0 locos, e.g. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/X9659-Hornby-Digital-decoder-for-DCC-Ready-0-6-0-Locos-/310719867051 .
  12. For those who are willing to wait, there is clearly a trend for eventual discounting. However, although I'm certainly not a Veruca Salt type, there are some items (perfect for my layout/likely to sell out/strong element of nostalgia) that I will buy straight away, even knowing they will eventually be discounted. Bachmann's maximum discount policy for the first 8 weeks after release was designed to catch people like me and I think there are a lot of us in the hobby!
  13. Nice to see you on RMweb. I often swing by your website to look at the detailed information and pictures you provide on some interesting projects. Would you be able to put a link to your website in your signature (via the My Settings link in the drop down box for your username and then use the Signature tab on the left of the page)? I'm sure there are many who would be interested in it.
  14. I'm not one who can often see the issues that people critique with models, but there was definitely an issue with the 33/0 roof profile being too flat, which was then corrected on the 33/1 and 33/2. As far as I know, Heljan didn't retool any of their 33s until now. Out of interest, would it be possible for you to post a head-on picture of your 33004 and Ashford 150? Of course, if you're happy with them, that's the crucial thing!
  15. This looks like it's had a photoshopped sky: Peak Meets Bone At Oxford by D1059, on Flickr
  16. Some 16 tonners heading through Dawlish Warren in a great shot from 1970: http://www.flickr.com/photos/96859208@N07/10870984696/
  17. OK, not photos, but some excellent Class 37 footage here from 1997, including some shunting:
  18. Not my website, I just use it for hints and tips!
  19. A Class 153 in an otherwise deserted Bromley North on a Sunday evening.
  20. Possibly National Reserve Domestic Coal: http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/BR_wagon_research/conversations/topics/100 (message 3 of 4).
  21. A very detailed look at the 144 now available here: http://s374444733.websitehome.co.uk/class-144/index.htm
  22. If I load my pictures straight off my camera, they come out the same as yours, with what I'd call a "soft focus" finish. I assume this is in part down to the camera used and the settings used to take the photo. I tweak mine in Photoshop just to make them a bit sharper, or more if I'm in the mood (playing with colours, shadows etc.). I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the ones you post of course, I just fancied playing around with that Class 31 shot!
  23. Found one, 85035, 1980: http://www.flickr.com/photos/48601959@N03/10233534983/ Don't know if Bachmann are doing one. As there were only a few, maybe just one, I wouldn't have thought it likely.
  24. I know Classes 81, 82 (004 at least) 83 and 86 had domino headcodes, but I don't recall seeing a Class 85 with them. A good excuse to look through some pictures though, so I'll post one if I find one.
