  1. The newer version also has a discharge button and led to confirm power has been discharged. Press the button until the blue led goes out before touching the unit or connections.
  2. just found this on the Hornby website. Class-60-(Sound).pdf Looks from the picture on page two that the decoder is indeed fitted upside down
  3. Didn't Hornby fit ESU V3.5 and V4.0 chips in their sound locos before TTS came along? If I remember correctly these were all 21 pin versions!
  4. from the screen shot you are in paged mode. Go into preferences, click on defaults and check the default connections. You may find that the connections have reverted to internal on some or all of the connections. This can happen when you upgrade.
  5. Unfortunately the Vent van was released too late for the decoder definition to be included in the latest production release 4.14. No new files were being added to the last test releases before 4.14 was released. The first test release it should be available in is 4.15.2 Brian
  6. Same here, worked OK using PowerDVD 16 but no sound on Oake
  7. Just read all the CV's using JMRI and found Volume set to 8. adjusted to 4 and a little quieter now! I have also just added the Vent Van definition to my JMRI Decoder Definition:- http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/136936-tts-decoders-updated-jmri-decoder-file-new-vent-van-decoder-definition-created/page-1
  8. Picked up my TTS Vent Van this morning and have now finished creating a new decoder definition for the Vent Van. The definition is a cut down version of the Original decoder definition as the motor controls are not required. I have added it to the opening post. Please download and copy both files to the decoder folder to ensure JMRI correctly identifies the Vent Van. The Original file has had to be slightly modified. I will pass it to the JMRI development team to add to the next test version/release version of JMRI Brian
  9. Just picked mine up this morning. Liking it, but in a quiet room the sounds are pretty loud. May need to alter volume levels slightly. Although it seems to be selling out quickly, I feel Hornby have missed a few selling points. Nowhere (other than in the instructions) do they mention: 3 sounds can be played at once - Triple track rather than twin track! Solder tabs running length ways under the wagon either side of the label (but painted black) allow for permanent connection to the DCC supply. Overall a very good product I think, paving the way for future products of a similar style. Brian
  10. Hattons are saying stock due on the 7th Dec or later. Hopefully mine will arrive with Model Railways Direct shortly!
  11. you'll not be disappointed! I bought the Legomanbiffo class 121/122 chip from Charlie at Warley last weekend. Very impressed with the sounds. Takes me back to my childhood!
  12. If you need to make changes I would suggest combining the discussions and question subsections but leave the fitting and sound as separate subsections. Although I would much prefer it to remain as is! I also find the DCC section of most interest and help and is the first place I usually go when visiting the site.
  13. Recently bought a Dapol class 122 and fitted it with a Lenz silver+. Had no issues with lighting F0 directional, F1 cab light , F2 cab light, F4 interior lights no issues. All switch fine with NCE Powercab. I even remapped using JMRI and now both cab lights controlled via F1 with only the cab light in the direction of travel lit. Interior lights remapped to F2 without issues.
  14. TTS Decoder definition now merged into main build of JMRI so should now appear in the next test version and Production versions of JMRI
  15. Ok so after thinking I wouldn't be doing any more updates for a while I was given the last two Steam Locomotive manuals, the Castle and the Princess. These have been received thanks to two sources RAFHAAA96 and Hornby Hobbies, I have also been given copies of the Lord Nelson and S15 so these have also been included. I do now expect this to be the last update for a while. I'll look to update with any new items such as the Vent Van, the J36 and the Stand alone chip with the Class 66 sounds. These will be added once I have a copy of the sound manuals. With this update I also took the opportunity to re-organise the sound level tab in the programmer. The main sound volumes have been grouped together on the right side of the window and all the secondary function sounds have been put into function No. order. The File will be uploaded in the next few minutes and is also being added to JMRI tonight. Brian
  16. To be honest I think the thread for Novembers magazine was very badly handled from the start. Promoting the digital edition hard and being very quiet about the paper edition seemed odd as most months both versions are advertised together. Now we know why. All you seemed to have done is angered subscribers. Wouldn't it have been better to be up front with everyone in the beginning and explain the reasoning behind the various editions. On the subject of the cover disk, the videos on the digital version are watchable on You Tube. Why do you need to produce a cover disk why not just print the links in the magazine? Not everyone likes to read a magazine on a tablet or PC. I for one find it difficult to read having to zoom in and out on the I-pad. I bought this months digital edition to see whether it was worth swapping over. The BRM windows app would not play the videos or show the additional photos, the Pocket mags app worked but the additional pictures are different sizes so when a smaller image is on screen the larger image is visible around the borders. Hasn't really convinced me that the digital version is better! Quite the opposite in fact, I'm asking myself do I want to keep subscribing. I wouldn't be surprised if others are starting to think the same and you could start to lose readers rather than gaining them.
  17. Rob I have put in a request to Hornby to see if they would let me have digital copies. Hopefully will here back shortly. Brian
  18. Try a Lenz Silver + All lighting works although I have reconfigured mine. I have directional on F0, Cab lights on F1 and Interior lighting on F2. If I remember correctly, the cab lights were on F1 and F2 and the interior was on F4 or F5. I used JMRI Decoder Pro to reconfigure the chip so that the cab lights are only on in the direction of travel but remain switchable this meant I could group the lighting together. I did try a Bachmann 56-554 and 56-557 but with one function missing the interior lights remained on
  19. Oh well so much for not updating again so soon! I have added a new file which now includes the differences between the MTU and Valenta decoders. I also noticed a few volume settings had disappeared from the file so these have been restored. There may still be an issue with detecting the Valenta decoder but as mentioned before it can be selected manually and all the volume settings should be correctly shown. Hopefully this will be corrected with the next release version of JMRI in December which I believe will be 4.14 Brian.
  20. I have just received some scans of the Valenta HST Manual thanks to Carvensdmufan. There are some slight differences when it comes to the horn descriptions. I'll update the file to reflect this as I used the functions labels from the MTU decoder manual. An interesting observation is that F18 and F19 are the horn sound for the prototype Loco! Are Hornby planning something or did they use the Prototype HST for the sounds so decided to include the original horn sounds? Another interesting note is that the Product ID seems to be on CV181 rather than CV159 so I 'll have to investigate further to see what code needs to be changed to ensure the decoder is detected automatically in Decoder pro. In the meantime it can still be selected manually. Brian
  21. I have now added the Peppercorn Class A1 'Tornado' to the file. Many thanks to RAFHAAA96 for the scan of the manual. I have also amended the Class 08 definition as it appears half the sound level entries were missing and two horn sounds were associated with the same sound level. There are now 22 TTS locos/Decoders in the file with both the MTU and Valenta HST's included. Not all have been fully tested but I have all the manuals for the Locos added except the class 08 and Valenta HST. If anyone has these locos and could let me have a scan of the manual or at least a scan of the CV list I can ensure any errors if any are rectified. The updated file should be available in the opening post shortly and then sent to the guys at JMRI to include in a future test release. This will probably be the last update for a while as I have run out of sources for the Manuals. I will keep searching and hopefully as the new models and chips are released Hornby will make the manuals available online and I will be able to add them to the file. Brian
  22. Pocket mags are offering 6 months for £19.99 and £44.99 for 12 months, but if you have the Windows 10 BRM app you can get a 6 month sub (6 issues) for £20.08 and 12 months (13 issues) for £34.79 that's roughly £2.68 an issue for the annual subscription. The November issue is also available on the windows app for £3.49, a 50p saving over pocket mags! I've just bought the November issue on the windows app and can also see it on the ipad with both the pocket mags app and the BRM app!
  23. Hello Geoff Unfortunately as Nigel and Rob have already said, there isn't any way to remap the functions. Only the CV's listed in the manual can be read and not all can be written to. Don't forget the TTS decoder is based on the R8249 decoder and as such is a fairly basic decoder when it comes to being able to alter CV's. All I have really done to the file is to increase the list of TTS Decoders that decoder pro can recognise when the chips are read and to populate the sound level tab in the programmer for each TTS decoder added so that the volume levels can be adjusted for each sound from within decoder pro. Brian
