  1. Thanks again for all the kind comments everyone, it’s much appreciated 😁 I’ve done more on the layout I’ve the last week or so; More Scottish greenery (and yellow) added to the layout with the addition of some @ScaleModelScenery flowering gorse and fern / bracken 🌱 I’ve also finished off the fence in along the running line, another excellent SMS kit (I still need to tone the silver down slightly) and I’ve also added a couple of figures around the distillery. Cheers! 🥃 Adam
  2. The livery samples in the newsletter look great, very much looking forward to them arriving!
  3. The embankment has grown somewhat over the last few days… apologies about the lighting, our kitchen lights are very orange! 🍊
  4. I’m happy with mine too, I might end up replacing the EMT logos, I’ll see how much the wonkyness bugs me over time…
  5. Thanks for your kind comments everyone, it’s much appreciated 😊 Thank you, I must admit it was all a bit of an experiment to get to a point that I thought looked realistic enough. I started by doing the infilling with Das modelling clay, then I painted it a few different shades of grey but it never really looked convincing. So I decided to add some very fine ballast to replicate a ash / ciders / gravel type of surface, stuck down with PVA. I then sprayed the whole area in Matt black paint and finished by brushing two different shades of grey (Watered down) over the top until I achieved the desired finish. Here are a few photos of the area during the experimental phase, I can’t remember if I uploaded this or not. Thanks again! Adam
  6. I hear BR brought them from the distillery 😆 Thank you 🙏 Adam
  7. Definitely, as I don’t yet have an airbrush it’s good that decent weathered items of rolling stock are available straight out of the box :)
  8. Thank you, I must admit I haven’t read that one, sounds like I need a copy :) My inspiration came from photographs of Dailuaine distillery on the Internet. Thanks again! Adam
  9. Definitely, they add another layer but do take some matching in! Thank you, the embankment and grassy area are my next target areas :) Adam.
  10. Thank you, yes still work to do in that area! Cheers.
  11. Some recent developments on my layout: 1. Wire fence installed at the front of the distillery. 2. Track added, ballasted and weathered on the ‘mainline’ section. 3. Mainline detail added, signal box, signal, fencing, static grass, point rodding and a telegraph pole. 4. Some work around the loco shed, an ash pile added, a industrial type water crane for topping up the locos tank. 5. I’ve also fitted the backscene now which I believe has transformed the layout. Coming together slowly! Still plenty to do though, including adding extra foliage to the embankment and front part of the layout to enhance and better match the backscene.
  12. Thank you David! Yes I will add some below, it started life as a wagon repair depot but when I struggled with the snow scene on the layout I decided it was a shame to scrap the layout so I thought I’d change it into something else :) Here are some early conversion pictures:
  13. Had the contractors in over the weekend installing a fence to protect the ‘liquid gold’. The posts are setting ready for the mesh to be added later. Cheers!
  14. Hi David, The Hornby Peckett runs pretty good though it, I am going to fit it with stay alive just to stop any stalling potential. I found the Hattons Barclay struggles on it though. Cheers, Adam
  15. Evening all, Thank you for all your kind words and continued interest in my layout. After a week off in Cornwall I managed to get back on the layout this week, I’m finally (after about 9 attempts) happy with the colour of the distillery yard meaning I’ve now been able to start adding some more details, static grass, whisky barrels glued down and some working lights (not yet wired up). More details to paint this evening and add in the coming days!
  16. Hornby have what looks like production sample pictures of the East Midlands Trains & Rail Charter services power cars on the website. Looks like they’ve done a good job with the triple headlight arrangement.
  17. Great news, congratulations! Fingers crossed for a Accurascale HST 🤞🤞 If so, can you announce it before I pay for my red box one? 😁 Asking for a friend…is there anyone left at Barwell? 😅😂
  18. Accurascale do some great metal kegs for a brewery, looks like they are out of stock at the minute though! https://www.accurascale.com/collections/accessories/products/5-stacks-of-kegs-90-keg-version
  19. A little more progress on the layout in the last week or two. 1. Whisky barrels painted and placed on the layout. 2. A low relief locomotive shed built complete with a low relief locomotive in it (A broken 3D printed body I had in my spares box) 3. Track laid on the embankment. The next jobs include finishing and weathering around the loco shed area, mainline railway to ballast, detail and weather, fixing the backscene in place and continuing to weather and detail the distillery yard. Here’s some pictures of the progress: Cheers, Adam
