  1. I’ve been experimenting with what I think looks right, it’s changed colour 5 times and now I’ve decided to add some very fine ballast to try and give it a compact ballast/ash to give it some texture, I’ve done a little more on it tonight but I’m still not 100% happy with it yet 🙃 That’s great news! I’m very glad to have passed on some inspiration! 🙂
  2. Impressed 👏 Looking forward to my Europhoenix and NR ones arriving in the future to join these two. In other news; I had to wait at the level crossing on my way to work the other day, 37800 went past light engine, I couldn’t help but think it would make a nice model…Hint hint 😁
  3. Thank you very much! Thank you! Yes I have actually got a 48DS Ruston in storage from the last layout I built, it will at some point be repainted as it’s currently painted in grey and I think it would benefit from some colour! The signal box is Peco’s Highland railway signal box kit, a laser cut kit that goes together superbly.
  4. A new arrival at the Distillery too… Hornby Peckett ‘Bear’ a nice little runner and a colour that matches the distillery blue, soon to be renamed ‘Robert Burns’. Here is a few pictures of it on the layout: There is also an overall picture of the layout in its current state from above, this shows the current projects, the mainline railway area at the top left and the area where a low relief engine shed will be at the bottom left (Based on the shed at Dailuaine Distillery). Cheers, Adam
  5. Evening all, The weekend just gone I decided to build the Highland railway signal box that will be placed on the mainline section of my micro layout (on the top of the embankment), here are some pictures of the finished article and it’s rough position on the layout.
  6. Thank you very much for your kind words! I’ve had a productive weekend building new parts for the layout so I will post an update shortly! Thanks! Adam
  7. Hi Luke, Thank you for your kind comment, I have two standard peco point motors mounted below the baseboard, powered off the auxiliary power on my controller. Thanks! Adam
  8. Hi Dava, yes indeed, I’ve actually got a Ruston 48 left over from the last layout so my plan is to repaint it for use on here too! Cheers, Adam
  9. Thanks for all the nice comments! Much appreciated. I’ll keep posting pictures of the progress and an overall picture next time I get it out of its box at the weekend. Here’s a couple of pictures of the yard area, looking quite plain at the minute as I’ve still got to paint and weather it along with adding the whisky barrels and other details! Thanks again all!
  10. Thanks David! It’s been my first ever attempt at running water! Adam
  11. Hi Marc, Thank you! Yes I didn’t want to end up trying to cram in so much it looked unnatural. You should definitely do it! As simple as the track layout is I can have plenty of time shunting happily! No minimal modifications needed to put the fiddle yard on the other end, I got carried away with the scenery instead of modifying the building 😂 Very nice! Enjoy the dram! 🥃 all the best ideas come to us after a little whisky! 😁
  12. Aren’t all pannier tanks the same anyway, being GWR and all that…. ….Runs away fast 😁
  13. Hi Marc, Thank you! The dimensions are 207 mm x 730 mm with a cassette on the left hand side currently but I do have the option to add another one to the right hand side once I chop the back off the distillery main building, which I may well do. Mine too! The distillery idea came to while while enjoying a fine Scottish dram 😁 Thanks again, Adam
  14. Afternoon, I built a micro last year with a winter theme and plenty of snow, unfortunately I didn’t get on with it too well as the glue used to stick the snow down never seemed to go off and caused for sticking points and poor running locomotives, at the start of the year I decided enough was enough and I’d had enough of the snow. I stripped the layout back to baseboards, cleaned the points, replaced some of the track and decided to start on my new project roughly based on a Scottish whisky distillery 🥃 Here are a few photos of my progress so far, still plenty to do but it is starting to shape up nicely. The buildings are scratch built, again roughly based on a few different highland distilleries. This weeks new arrival is a Hattons Barclay still in need of some customisation and weathering. Hopefully in time some Scottish allocated class 25s & 20s will visit too!
  15. Did Accurascale buy all of the Hattons tools? Id love another Barclay if they did! 😁
  16. You can’t mess with modellers like that! 😂
  17. My moneys on the next run of 37 liveries… Somewhere in the 37 thread it was said that once Batch 1 started it’s journey to the UK they would announce the next run. I’m usually totally wrong though!
  18. The Accurascale website says “Announcements”… could be a typo though as it also says Accura ‘sale’ so we know the locomotive will be cheap 😂😂
