  1. Layout all set up and working fine. Looking forward to tomorrow.
  2. Thanks for the info. It would make an interesting model.
  3. Winwick Junction in 1996 (my photo). Some kind of test train?
  4. Tested my OO blue diesel Layout ‘Linden Grove’ yesterday, relieved that everything worked after 3 years stored in my railway room. Wheel cleaning today. 90 mile trip to Chapel-en-le-Frith tomorrow. Very much looking forward to the exhibition over the weekend, although it will be the last apperance for Linden Grove; after the show it will either be sold or scrapped.
  5. Wonder what a 60 would look like in BR blue or large logo livery?
  6. Despite the destination, the dmu is at this station.
  7. Hi, There is a programme on the radio this Sunday, 19th February, that some of you might find interesting, especially for those interested in old American railways. It is the story of how the railroads developed in Appalachia, set to the appropriate music. The 60 minute programme is Criffel Creek on Alive 107.3 at 11am. Unless you are in the Dumfries area you will need to listen via the internet, just find Alive 107.3 on your computer, phone or tablet and press the listen now button. Alive 107.3 is a voluntary run community radio station and all the presenters are volunteers, so don’t expect it to be as slick as commercial radio stations. Criffel Creek is normally an hour of old time and bluegrass music, so most of the music for this show is from these genres.
  8. Excellent. Thanks for sharing. I’ve only been to one plandampf which was disappointing due to torrential rain which made photographing from the lineside impossible, so eveyone rode on the trains making them overcrowded.
  9. Stationary/office suppliers such as Ryman sell card readers for just under £30, with (according to their website) 1.69% transaction fees.
  10. I’ve booked a long weekend in London so I can go to the show.
  11. Mine arrived a few days ago, indeed a day before I got a message from UPS saying they were on the way. Nice wagons, well worth the wait.
  12. You can just see one of the wheels of the transporter wagon inthe photo, bottom left.
  13. Travelled over from Lancaster to Huddersfield on Friday evening, visited the show today, very enjoyable with good layouts and decent food. Had long chats with some of the operators and came home with lots of ideas. Well worth the trip.
  14. Read it from cover to cover already - another excellent issue.
  15. Thanks for asking the question and for the answers. Rails of Sheffield have a good offer on packs of 12 Cobalt levers (which I like) and I have 12 cobalt IP digital point motors ready for my next layout.
  16. Something different that looks stunning. How big is it please (scenic area and fiddle yard).
  17. I’ve had an email today from TVP, they are producing a DVD on ‘Branches in the North’ and the info says it includes the Sandside branch.
  18. I know what you mean by give the loco a wiggle as that’s what I used to do until I gpt some of my locos converted to DCC sound , the chap that fitted the sound serviced the locos too as he said the pick ups wete all distorted by me ‘wiggling’ them. Seemed to be a big problem on Heljan shunters.
  19. Very interesting, especially the photos as I go through Sandside regularly driving the bus. I’ll have to get that book. Good luck with the project.
  20. I’m in general agreement, to me there is no point in adding details that cannot be seen, makes the model more expensive for no benefit. Likewise, I find that lots of the fine details come off in use, so I’m happy to do without them and have a cheaper model. I would be happy with unpainted wagons. It would be great to gave some unpainted tank wagons so I could chose the livery I want, paint and apply lettering myself. Happy if they came as a simple kit eg fit wheels then clip body and chassis together. Anyone remember Hornby CKD models? Heljan’s recent peak came with a unmumbered option which I bought, far easier just to add numbers of my choice without first having to remove the factory applied numbers which can lead to paintwork damage. I’ve no plans to replace my 31s, 37s, 47s and 55s with the new highly detailed models, rather spend the £ on something else.
  21. I remember it well, I helped out at Bold cleaning locos and rode in one of coaches during the cavalcade. Happy times.
  22. Where did ypu get the 2-10-2T from Richard, they seem scarce.
