  1. Just what I was wondering as well. Keith
  2. Cheers Chris sounds about right. At least I have already gone through the same with my FDM printer and survived. Still a lot of prep work to do. The machine is going in the garage! I know already working on an enclosure and heater. My FDM print sits in the same place and I have operated that at a temp of 5 degrees but I know that will not work for resin. Keith
  3. That’s a pity but could be used in a cameo. Dumped off the side of a line or a siding could be just rusty or being cut up by the orange gang. I am following with interest as I have just got my first resin printer. Keith
  4. Stunning work great to see the layout growing. Just a quick question what 3D software are you using for your wagons. Keith
  5. I totally agree my own journey into 3D has so far taken nearly three years. It is only now that my .stl’s are getting to the point of a model that will be acceptable to me. However I am always looking at ways of improving my designs as I learn new ways of drawing. Over the next couple of months I will be learning how to use resin and that will be a whole new story. Now back to my 3D sorry Oxted DEMU. Keith
  6. Is there a symbol for sleightitusion. Keith and. Yo yo ho to you all
  7. Drove down that road a couple of weeks ago. I did not get airborne on the hump back bridge over the Ouse…….. Looking forward to seeing this at Bristol. Keith
  8. Hi John, I like Martin use Designspark Mechanical and have done for all my current work. I find it easier than other programs to be grasped in the beginning. It does have some limitations but they could be my own skill set. It’s a case of going back and thinking around a problem. It was only in the last few weeks I found out what the project tool does. The items I am still working on is producing brickwork and rivets. But it will come over time. Keith
  9. I was under the impression that PLA is biodegradable. However that is not meant to occur for over 400 years! Keith
  10. Well done for the latest digest. I just wish there could be more editions during the year. Keith
  11. Well done John mine is still in its box. I have a few bits of housekeeping or should it be garagekeeping to do before I start up the geetech. I am going to build an enclosure so that I can keep some heat in to start the print. Likewise the resin that was due to arrive in January is now to hand. Keith
  12. Also the 71 replaced the boosters on the Newhaven boat trains. The WTT was very interesting am I right in seeing that during the week that the loco off the boat went to either Lewis or Three Bridges before returning to Newhaven for the return service. Did the stock stay at Marine or did that go with the booster. Keith Just old enough to remember seeing boosters from my bedroom window on the bml north of Salfords.
  13. Once the plan is sliced that will give you an estimate of length of filament and approx cost. If you look back on this thread Hayfield has outlined some estimated costs for a typical turnout. I seam to recall that in filament about 40p similar in resin and about £1.00 for rail. Ok it does not take into account the machine cost and labour cost. But no matter what it still works out a lot cheaper than any other method. However it is the flexibility that this system gives. For me the ability to produce a more realistic set of track work is key. Keith
  14. Caught a glimpse out of the corner of my eye as it went over copyhold junction. Keith
  15. I already have a nice little collection of straight, curved and turnout bases to build. I could get the printer up and running by the beginning of January but will take time to get it right. I noticed that Templot also accommodates Peco code 75 rail well I have some bullhead that could be used for trials. Keith
  16. Yes I have a plan at the moment but need to tweak it a bit. Once tweaked first off will be a paper print out then onto the 3D bases. Currently the plan is based around three 1 in 6 turnouts. It’s just a simple station. Keith
  17. Thanks John much appreciated. I am away in Sussex for a few days so will have a go for the jigs at the weekend. I like the idea of memory cards that is now on my list of things to do. Keith
  18. Well done John, my geetech arrived a couple of days ago but it will be in the new year before it is put into operation. It will live in the garage which is below our lounge and has an insulated door. I will be making a cabinet so that it can be heated before use. The FDM printer will be put to good use by producing the fixing brackets for the cabinet. I will however take the time to get better at Templot. On my list of too do list is find the filing jigs, be able to creat the timbering blank and the clips. Keith
  19. Yes major civil engineering leaves a scar but in the short term. It would have been the same when our mainlines where built. I seam to recall that embankments on the Brighton line where made with spoil from tunnels etc through the chalk downs. Imagine what that would have looked like before vegetation took over. I remember watching a short tv series during the building of the M40 around the Aynho area. It included building a bridge over a river. Firstly the river was diverted whilst the bridge was built. When the river was returned to its normal route the wildlife rapidly came back and there where shots of Kingfishers flying through the bridge with in a few weeks. Keith
  20. Any updates would like to see how it is progressing. Keith
  21. Pick a station get photos and start counting bricks. I am currently doing this….. The station building for Grange road was demolished in 1967/68 but was one of several built to the same design. Fortunately for me there are several of these buildings still around. I spent a couple of hours earlier this year taking photos of Lingfield and Edenbridge town and am now counting bricks. Keith
  22. I do appreciate that there is a cost to having two printers. However I am finding more and more use for my FDM printer ailed to my proposed layout. I am a bit ham fisted when it comes to using metal and plastic and still in awe to those of you out there that can produce such great models. But having now grasped 3D design I can now produce DEMUs building cores and track bases. I have several other ideas floating about that over time will be tried out. The good news today is that Santas little helper is enroute to me with my first resin printer. So Martin and James you need to ask Geeteck for your commission from yet another sale! Keith
  23. Yet another building core. This is the building on the south platform at Rowfant. Keith
