  1. No but even the Chicken & Mushroom, Beef &Tomato ones are vegetarian friendly.. And if you dont like your neighbours, cut out that little white box between the brush holders ;-)
  2. As a kid spending summers around Westbury in the late 1980’s, this is the version I remember most commonly around that time... (link, not mine). I have my Lima 33008 reflecting this style since that time. I do remember seeing this on services to/ex Bristol many times, it was a regular, often daily around this time. Though I do remember mods to this livery thinking they had spoiled it, as to my mind this was 33008 at its best.
  3. thing Ilike about Lima, is its Pot Noodle like qualities. its cheap but looks ok, you can’t avoid getting a fix every now and again. It will never be rare, it’s the 1990’s equivalent of Triang. Coveted by a few, bottom feeder fodder to most.
  4. All we need is one BBC journalist to add “black 0-6-0 goods engines” to the list and many of the model railway industries problems are solved.
  5. Why not just make one version of Fell now... Would enough people who want one, buy one, regardless of a set of rods ? then once its sold, retool a different body to re-use on the existing chassis / mechanism w/rods as a second bite of the cherry if demand allows it...? (hint, if your anywhere close to a slightly used class 71 tooling, that could make the same chassis mechanism useful for a class 74 body too ;-)
  6. Fell built 1950 @Derby, 10000 built at Derby with EE... So once the Fell, fell out of favour, maybe the lessons learned about maintenance were passed via Osmosis from Derby to EE and learnt on Deltic introduced in 1955..where engines were exchangeable in rapid time ?
  7. True word said in jest, I had a £600 order from derails left in the neighbours bin on bin day once... fortunately they left it an hour after the bin man went.
  8. It wasn’t possible out of the box in the 1990’s either... the Bachmann 158 was one of the first models made with this new fangled NEM coupling thingy mi-jiggy which no one liked at the time, as there was no “loop”, just the Roco style one.. of course there was no coupling at all on the front. And the Lima 156... it came with a plastic monkey wrench shaped fitting that was only designed to couple two 156’s together with nothing else... the way around it was Fleischmann couplings, but then the only other rtr 2nd Gen dmus (Dapols 150/155 and Hornbys 142 had no coupling either) didn’t have an easy way to retrofit them either. in short we’ve come a long way to stand still... though until recently we had NEM fittings on 143/144/150/153/5/6, nothing on a 142 and unique fitting to a 158.
  9. 6 engines inside... now I’m starting to understand why it was a one off. Derby having already built 10001/2 they must have known this was a lemon whilst building it.
  10. Are you feeling lucky ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Surprise-Box-Of-Bachmann-Train-8-In-Total-All-Boxed-Some-New-Some-Great/392759593020?hash=item5b724bc83c:g:~cYAAOSw9D1ekyko
  11. There is a bad buyers list for model railways out there, mostly US centric, but it exists. you just copy / paste the list in to your blocked bidder list and done. There are tons of “bad buyer” lists out there for different ebay categories. if you end up on one, i’m not sure theres a way off it. How much they are adopted I don't know, but if they were to get popular and UK sellers got frustrated too many times I could for see them taking more notice.
  12. Reading wiki and other sites, it suggests the loco had 4 Paxman 12rph engines in, which were very similar to 12tp used in marine vessels and WW2 transports. A quick look around doesnt find many videos of sound (and non of the Fell itself). I did find this video of a 12rph, does anyone know if it sounded anything like this ? (Or x4 of them). This video sounds a bit like an oversized class 14. This must have been a bit of a beast in sound ?
  13. Theres not been many new reports of Mazak rot for a few years now, so it looks like the industry is ahead of that. I’d imagine most models of older batches will have imploded by now also, so whilst theres risk of fringe cases, many models that look ok, probably are now OK, as they may be outside the fault zone, or repaired, or chassis swapped. Certainly theres not as many mazak affected models on ebay as their used to be, and ironically their values have doubled as people feast on their bones.
  14. I’d like Scotrail Saltaire livery myself. but if the original Scotrail /Provincial was done, i’d run it as a 2-car hybrid with a 156 car being the other vehicle, as operated in their first winter of service.
  15. Not sure why. Its same price at Kernow since Christmas, and once you separate the wagons from the loco, the price isn't even that good.
  16. Could the balance off ? what is it like, if you remove the tender, and have it pull a load smokebox first ?
  17. I got halloumi cheese today, tons of it...local Turkish deli has so much of it they were selling them in bags of 4, got my olives, oranges, strawberries too. Its close to the station, but as no one rides trains they've gone quiet. Drove past sainsburys, car park half closed with a queue around 50-60 deep snaking around it.. 5pm today. I think the problem is population density in the area, people dont want to venture to the larger out of town stores (Purley way in our case used to be the mega-draw for the populous for a 15mile radius at least). I think people are staying closer to the smaller stores in the various villages of Zones 3-6. However with So many people in the London suburbs, no longer commuting & eating lunch in London daily, plus having kids at home too its making the more local stores much busier than they used to be, and storage not being designed for the demand, they are running out very often. Although ive not now been into London since end of Feb, (ive been a “home office type” since 1998). i’m guessing those supermarket “locals” around Bank, Liverpool st etc are probably over stocked but deserted. whilst its slightly more expensive local grocers, butchers and then the reasonable local Asian,Polish and Middle Eastern shops seem to be the best equipped. I spoke to one guy at the butchers, he said it was a 90 min queue to get into his local Tescos. speaking to my mother near Bolton, her stores are wanting for nothing throughout this so far, everything is there on demand, “ever since the war” in her words (and she means WW2), but then in her village, an 8am-6pm working day, plus a 1 hour commute either side was never part of its culture either, unlike this area of London, so supermarket demand there is probably unchanged. I do suspect hundreds of thousands of Londoners will be reevaluating the commute vs work from home following this, as will many of those locked up in Londons blocks of flats maybe looking for something more open and remote after this is over.
  18. thats optimistic. I note 24 sold in the last 3 months on ebay, prices are right down.. £99-£180 mostly, the £300 bubble has gone.
  19. Theres no point worrying, it wont change anything.. unless it's something you can do something about, in which case don't worry then either.. do something and it wont be a worry any longer. my problem isnt worry, its thinking... ive been thinking of modelling something all morning.. i need the kick up the butt to go do it. confucius say... end sermon.
  20. No need to be sorry, I was watching that 1907 video of LNWR locos over breakfast ! wow. Lunch is back to reality and testing my Bachmann 66’s. :-)
  21. An inspection saloon with fitted internal wifi camera, strong headlights would be a very nice tool, especially if speed and distance were recorded ;-)
  22. So why did he quote me then ? And why did you ? i was sleeping nicely and this thread woke me up. :-) All confused, I need a cup of tea now, for a moment I thought the models had arrived.
