  1. My wife says you need to update your jokes source as it is currently about fifty years old!
  2. Sorry, I was only thinking in terms of 4mm scale.
  3. I have to question if Lima ever made one of these locos. It does not appear in Ramsay's British Model Trains Catalogue.
  4. The latest edition of BRM has the usual Hattons advert towards the front which advertises the new Bachmann class 414 2-HAP at an estimated £186.96 but the Hattons advert on the back page showing progress with new models has the estimated price as £119.50. Looks like left hand and right hand are not working together!
  5. The interesting thing about the Thumper unit is that the Eden Valley Railway website says that it is green on one side and still in Connex livery on the other. They even have photos showing it in this duel livery. The website must be out of date as you cannot paint a until in a day!
  6. If the layout was going to use a straight fiddle yard then extra sidings for whatever use the owner wants could be laid in front of the fiddle yard extending the viewing area to the full length of the layout.
  7. The problem with Marylebone is that the tunnel may have four or five tracks entering at the station end but shortly after entering the tunnel it becomes large enough for two tracks only and according to my research has never been a four track tunnel at any time since it was built although when built there may have been room to add two extra tracks but that ability was lost many years ago.
  8. As you leave Snow Hill station you pass the closed entrance of the old tram stop and the signs direct you to the Bull Street stop to connect with the trams. A bit like Canary Wharf Underground station being closer to Heron Quays DLR than to Canary Wharf DLR. Personally, if I am changing between the two I use Jewellery Quarter or The Hawthorns but I agree having a tram stop called Snow Hill that is very hard to get to or from when changing at Snow Hill is a little bit of planning madness that is not confined to Birmingham.
  9. You forgot to mention when your funeral is!
  10. I saw the news about the increase in size yesterday morning and with nothing planned made a trip to Sidcup. Shop is very close to the station and the the staff very friendly. They helped me empty my wallet and I will certainly be paying them more visits.
  11. Could be that the boat arrived, container unloaded and all stock sent to dealers so that now Bachmann have none left!
  12. Sadly no news at present but I retired on 13 May and have started getting estimates for new four foot high wardrobes all round my bedroom. In case you are wondering the top of the wardrobes will be the base board for my British outline layout and a shelf above will be for the Wisconsin layout which may therefore be extended to ten feet long. Once I have more news I will keep you all updated as I have had a lot of help from people and I feel they should see how I have put that kindness to good use.
  13. I saw that. Interesting device, what is it used for?
  14. Large amounts of the train horns being used but 5 minutes later still no train! Maybe it was coming out of the UP yard and then went the other way!
  15. Having watched the webcam for sometime today it has just struck me that the UP trains have been running left hand side and the BNSF have been running right hand side. I thought US railroads all ran right hand side but I must be wrong! EDIT:- The last two UP trains were both going towards Proviso. One on each track about four minutes apart! They must have bi-directional signalling!
  16. BNSF train across the diamonds stationary with another train moving very slowly behind it. LOTS of horns going!
  17. Having been watching the Rochelle BNSF and UP crossing for some time today I am now wondering if something like Realtime Trains exists on the BNSF and UP systems or for any of the USA?
  18. I have registered but still cannot seem to get into the webcam! Can anyone give me some idiot proof instructions as I seem to be being an idiot today!
  19. It is interesting that Hattons have estimated the price of the new 2 HAP to be £119.50 but the latest issue of the 2 EPB is £186.96 and the Bachmann website gives the price of the 2 EPB as £219.95. Now I can see that the two EMU's may have different prices but I am very surprised that the new model is expected to be cheaper! I have bought items from Hattons for the last ten years and their prices are always good but the prices they put up for new items before the manufacturers give a price appear to be total fiction.
  20. BMW stand for Badly Made Wreck! Just watch them fall apart when used in Banger racing.
  21. In answer to jetmorgan about branches on preserved railways. The Bodmin and Wenford have a full working junction where the two branches meet at Bodmin General station. Back on topic, I went to the recent Gala on the Saturday and had a wonderful day, well done to all those who worked so hard to give the passengers such a good day.
