  1. Believe it to have been shipped with the incorrect tender shape thus causing the delay.
  2. A rake of 4 was used on Cardif-Rhymney services and this was pressed into Summer Saturday use on trains to Fishguard Harbour. Thus a perfect partner would be one of the 37’s then in use and in 2006,Class 50 ‘s 50035 & 50049 worked to Fishguard with the Anglia set. The new Bachmann Collectors Club 37422 is a perfect combination with Bachmann’s new 2f. Virgin coaches if you can make up a similar set btw.
  3. Mine sounds exactly like the video example, quite excellent in fact and I’m actually getting that quality running on dc only.My 37430 is the same. Seems as if you should contact Barwell service dept.for a way forward .
  4. FYI all Deltic fans. Alycidon is scheduled for service on the GCR tomorrow. I think a trip over to Quorn is a good idea.
  5. The tint has the effect,at least in my own case,of somehow highlighting the detail ,shape and line of the cab which is a strong plus point. It just throws the “face” of the model into relief.
  6. I’ll add my own regrets to this. Frequent agreements matched by the odd disagreement over a decade. A character who will be very sorely missed by many in this community. Good night Robbie.
  7. As maybe but retailers need to earn a crust of bread too.
  8. Having played all afternoon with my heavenly Welsh twins, have to say…as a rookie sound user ( and that on dc only) how very impressed I am with the sound operation on both new 37’s . Gives a wholly new and most enjoyable dimension to running models of them and vividly reminds me of the sound they once made just over the way from my front bedroom window reversing a load of empties up the line from Treherbert to Blaenrhondda Colliery and then ,brakes screaming, bringing the train load back down again.. All now but a thing of memory .
  9. Of course. How remiss of me in just citing the obvious. Apologies.
  10. I have already I believe 5 Accurascale 37 on order. However if you wish to make a hands on critical assessment of the competition,I suggest you nip over to DEMU at Sutton Coldfield before 16:00 close of play today. Or have some of you already been ? I bought the two new releases …both sound….yesterday and they are currently sitting on my tabletop having been played with on & off since 5:00pm yesterday . Have to say I am a lot poorer but well happy with quality and performance Even folks on DC Analogue…my choice for now. As is posted above, there is plenty of room still in the market for both editions .Ponder awhile.
  11. Resistance …at least in my case …was useless. I too have the Vitrains version of which I am no fan,I have to say as I think the shape is plain wrong . As I post this,my newly acquired ,newly minted Bachmann Collectors Club of 37422 is growling in stately pace around my 8x4 tabletop under dc control..and yes I bought the sound version but with careful tweaking it in fact works a charm under Gaugemaster Combi control . And yes I did spend much money,I admit. So…yer pays yer money and yer takes yer choice. IMHO no contest…..especially with dcc control…proper stuff.
  12. Thanks to DEMU for a good show in an excellent venue. My first since mid 2019.and hugely enjoyable. Good to see …and hear….everyone in good humour and good spirits
  13. This is a sweeping statement. It is cheaper,I grant you. Better ? They are two different prototypes .So how can you compare ? Why …for now….do we find it necessary to indulge in premature comparisons? Surely we should be content that models of such quality are available. At this moment,I am running in my new 37430. On my tabletop alongside rest a number of Accurascale Deltics. I’m spoiled..like the cat who licked the cream. And I’m equally happy with both models. They ooze quality .
  14. As someone who witnessed at first hand the avalanche of the 37 ( aka EE Type 3 ) into South Wales from 1963 to 1966 and given the selection of first release,Bachmann must be laying in wait for my cash. Cardiff Canton & Cwmbran . I still retain memories of the footbridge at Canton in the days of 86C & its Brits. Well done Bachmann. Great PR work in YouTube video too. Unfortunately for my finances,I am but a short distance from DEMU. Competition is healthy and I still keenly await the arrival of Accurascale’s version too.
  15. The first 25Kv OHLE operational service was between Crewe and Manchester dated IIRC 1960.
  16. We know that the LMR couldn’t wait to rid itself of WR hydraulics but an overnight mass cull of all WR stock was never going to happen out of pretty obvious practical necessity . The Birmingham area, particularly out of Snow Hill had a very intensive suburban network and service, apart from the need for….in those days….other stock such as parcels vans and of course the ubiquitous Siphon G. From the regional changes of the early 60’s much stock would be cascaded elsewhere so maybe one or two might find themselves gracing the Manchester area. Talking of which, going at a slight tangent, does anyone remember the famous York/Newcastle-Manchester Red Bank Parcels, often heavy loaded and thus frequently double headed in steam daysfrom York over the Pennines ? You might possibly have spotted a Siphon G in that…with a Scot & Black 5 at the head .
  17. All of mine….yes all…….are secure performers on my 9x4 tabletop. No worries.
  18. And here in the heights overlooking Froth City (17B) it’s BakeOff day. Was going to do a round trip to Buxton for a couple of things on at the Festival but probably not too healthy an activity considering.Any case got email from the Box Office late yesterday pm to say the book author concerned would be doing her stuff from home …..streamed…rather than in persona as it were. No reason but strongly suspect she can’t get a train north from London as understandably we’re suffering wobbly rail syndrome. Now I just heard the concert I was going to before that has been moved to another venue.due to the heat. I’m pulling out of this one. The heat and playing dodgems with limestone wagons on the A 515 is an unhealthy combination. Stay indoors and play trains on the tabletop line. The loft would likely asphyxiate me today.
  19. Those of us who remember the summer of ‘76 might also remember the time the temperature in London reached the high …for then….of the magic 100 F recorded on the Air Ministry roof. On that day,I was at a family wedding in Streatham. Those of us who do remember will also have “moved on “ in their respective capacities to cope with the current extremes of climate and the strength of the sun. I could cope with it then….a fitter man less than half the age I now am with none of my current health issues . On Tuesday next ,I had planned to attend an event which involves a 90 mile return drive. Unless there is a drastic cooling off in the forecast, I shall cancel. If I don’t heed the warnings and look after myself ,who else will ?
  20. 68023 is on eBay…..with handrails…..now ….at £160 .
  21. Oh dear.Dapol gets it in the neck again .At least they actually have responded which is at least positive. They are not the only manufacturer to have suffered mistakes on delivery. Let’s be fair .These things happen with remote production facilities I’m afraid.
  22. Well thank you for that. My Brutus will shortly have work
