  1. Thanks for that Lee...................mine is one of those later heavier weathered ones too, 47996....................its like its definitley going to fail...just a case of when...?????
  2. I wonder what % of BG's are failing due to the motor burn outs......judging by the posts on this thread.....it is steadily growing. But it is likely that the only people to post are those with negative experiences, and in the greater scheme of things, it might not yet be great enough for Hattons / Heljan to react in the appropriate manner. It is very disappointing to hear of the failures, and very disheartening for the owners of such beautiful models. I live in fear of mine giving up the ghost at any moment........but it still performs impeccably (schhhhh). Running for hours at a time at a scale 10-15mph. ( 3 hours this afternoon again - non stop) This all very bad for Heljan, and I dare say that Hattons are just sitting there and replacing faulty models, probably at no cost to themselves.............I remember my two motor burn outs with my Heljan Clayton, eventually cured with the addition of a Mashima motor

What really surprises me is that not only has this guy paid for the goods.....but it was a collection only item, so he has also paid city link to come and collect it.???????????????????????

Here I am again.................if you are following this saga.....it gets even better. As you can see the item was returned to me because it couldnt be delivered, and was not collected from the city link hub by the guy who bought it....but I told the city link guy on the 7 th Nov. I dont want it back....so he took it away again. Yes...............you guessed it..............its back again....today the 26th November it was returned to me again....City Link saying they have no option but return it to me or dispose of it. I did email this guy to say it had been returned the first time....but I'm not going to bother this time......I have it back on a pallette in our business unit. What am I to do......I need the space desparately in the unit. What are my legal options..?????? HELP...!!!!!! Bob
  5. Having heard of the recent problems with the delivery of a very small number of Hornbys model of Exeter.......had I better choose a local supplier and get a pre order placed for a Crosti model.? I'm not used to pre ordering....and in fact used Hattons for the first time ever, to get a Beyer Garratt just a couple of months ago because they seemed to be flying off the shelves. Bob
  6. Is it the same can motor as Heljan fitted to the Class 17 Clayton.................I had problems with mine, and burnt out two motors.....replaced it with a mashima motor eventually...ran perfectly eversince. Bob
  7. That would be interesting if you could Jim. I know it was for camouflage purposes.........but if the Germans missed the Erecting shop with their bombs, it was only 100yds on the other side of the road to Rolls Royce. They were that close together, as you obviously can see as you drive by.
  8. Have any of you walked along West Street , alongside the very high red brick wall of the length of the erecting shop.? As a child in the 50's and 60's , I can remember the whole wall being painted to resemble a row of terraced houses....if you look carefully today, it is just about still recognizable as such, but now badly faded. Bob
  9. Yep..................just what I was thinking....!!!

A further update to those who were following this saga. He eventually contacted me mid Oct to say he had arranged collection by city link.................another 10 days passed before city link turned up to collect the item. That was about 24th oct. Two weeks after waving goodbye to the palletised item......on Friday 7th November, City Link brought it back. Nobody in to receive it, been left numerous notes to collect from depot in Biscester. Anyway.......I refused to accept it....its not mine anymore.....he paid me, money in the bank, cleared funds....its not mine anymore. His responsibility.................I cant believe someone is so laid back about an item that cost over £200. Bob

    Hornby P2

So you are having difficulty getting your "Cock" round bends....................not surprising its awkward to carry then...???
  14. Hi Jim Many thanks indeed for the pics.............I was born(1948) just ten minutes walk from Queens Park....where my grandmother would push me in my pushchair in my early years. I was born in McNeill Ave, just off West St.,, about 50metres as the Crow flies from the Erecting Shop, where my grandfather worked with responsibility for the locos motion gear, until he retired in 1967. All your pictures are fond memories, as it was the area I grew up in, only to leave when I got married. Thanks...............Bob.
  15. Thanks SGJ.................that sort of helps.......I may have to read it a couple more times to understand it. Bob
  16. What exactly is Condensate .... the tanks on Daves (Beasts) pic of the Harwich to N.Walsham working....? Thanks Bob.

    EBay madness

Hi Bob Nothing railway related I'm afraid.............its a 4 colour t shirt carroussel printer...and infra red dryer. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111457714856?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1559.l2649 Occupies a pallette space in our overcrowded warehouse.....I was tempted to bin the lot as we were so desparate for the space....but then last minute I put them on ebay. Nearly 3 weeks later I am even more desparate for the space.....but stuck with the items until he responds. Bob

    Hornby P2

From what I understand reading this thread....the Hornby TTS P2 will not produce any sounds whatsoever on DC/Analogue layouts, unlike previous Hornby sound fitted locos, which do emit sounds of sorts on DC.??? Can someone confirm this please before a pal of mine buys one, and is then disappointed. Thanks.................Bob
  20. Jim We must ask Andy to provide an extra icon which means "Stunning". To just "like" your photos, doesnt quite seem enough at times...!!!!
  21. Hi Jim The Sinfin tanks were late through Uttoxeter this morning about 9.30........hauled by a red Schenker 60 and a dead Colas 56. This evening the tanks worked back, with two Colas locos on, both 56's i think, the lead one working, so i expect the dead one was the one from this morning.. The working 56 was a very smokey one, lots of continuous blue diesel smoke. Dont have any numbers as they took me a little by surprise. Bob

    EBay madness

He paid on the 25th of the month.........I still havent heard from him.?????????????????? I do hope he saw it was on for collection only.?? Someone asked me about postage...but the kit is bulky and irregular shaped....and weighs about 45kgs. I have said if someone wants it shipping, I would look at the costs, but they must be paid for up front, and directly with me. I live in hope........but I have not experienced this before....really odd.
  24. The 60 is 7 foot longer.....2 metres approx....so not that much longer then..??????!!!! The 56 is inches wider, but the 60 is inches taller........................but it is a different loco over the buffers.
