  1. I got a set of VTG hoods direct but having to go back as damaged and a set of later VTG without hoods from Rails again arrived with bits off but I have managed to fix this one myself. Lovely wagons but do seem a little fragile but if we want this level of detail I guess its always going to be a fine line between robustness and finesse.
  2. I hope not, this was one of the small shop gripes from last time round, where customers saw them on Hornby's website and asked to order them to be told no we cannot get them as web exclusive and then 6 months later Hornby dumped excess stock to large retailers only such as Kernow and Hattons and the same customers were asking why they had them in stock and their local shop did not.
  3. It's a range of existing wagons in Rolling Stones livery to compete with Hornbys Beatles collection and of course they will have to paint it black!
  4. It seems there is something odd going on with Scotrail 47 in that its not on Hornbys order form for retailers I was speaking to owner of Scoonie Hobbies today and its not on list and he has asked the rep who can't find the part number either, when you search on Google Hattons show it but Kernows page no longer exists? I am not sure if Hornby have dropped model since Andy was at press day or something else has happened?
  5. The 60s look tempting I just hope they get the blue right on the standard Gbrf as the recent 50s were just to light, I might pre-order Cappagh and wait to see for the others.

Andy will have a post with all the new releases including images on this forum ready for launch tomorrow its the best way to view as often Hornbys website struggles with to cope with demand on the day.

Surely it has to be a new model of the GWR 101 to celebrate their 101st birthday or maybe 101 different liveries on the existing model
  9. I remember a few years ago Bachmann highlighted staff being pinched by tech companies as a problem in production delays but at least these will take away some of the January blues next year
  10. The train crossing the Forth rail bridge were 24 loaded with rakes usually made up of 36 in Scotland, 12 were removed at various locations depending on route from source and sometimes reformed back into 36 rakes such as at Thornton yard. The empty wagons were usually remarshalled back into 36 rakes to cut down on paths over the busy bridge and this was also one of the driving forces behind the reopening of the line from Stirling to Alloa as this allowed access to Longannet power station without having to cross the bridge.
  11. Would any have been in LMS crimson in the 1930s just before withdrawal or am I better going for a black one?
  12. Not if your Hornby last years brand new class 87 was 8 pin and I predict the new class 91 unfortunately will be the same!
  13. I think it might be a mixture of the 2 if the model is specialised you might want more notice to avoid duplication for example Cavalex are doing the Bardon JGA if you had both anounced this model and been at tooling stage it could have been risky for both, the duplication of the HAA is different there were thousand all over the UK for many years and demand should hopefully be good enough for both to succeed.
  14. My local retailer placed order with Bachmann for stock levels he thought he could sell on the announcement day Tuesday last week. On the Thursday he tried to increase order for sound fitted WCR 57 and was told sorry all pro-ordered so even retailers cant wait for customers to put orders some items are selling out at Bachmann on the day they are announced.
  15. I was wondering if its a holding price until Heljan confirm rrp as the other collection models haven't been overpriced or Heljan have confirmed the price and the standard releases will be around this price also?
  16. Gaugemaster have announced several new exclusive models as part of their Gaugemaster collection range https://www.gaugemasterretail.com/magento/model-railways/gm-collection-brand5.html?scale=452
  17. I see Gaugemaster are doing 86622 and 86637 in Powerhaul livery as part of the Gaugemaster collection range showing on their website now for shops and customers to preorder.
  18. Price debate in model railways is never going to go away but its hard to get some people to understand that even in our small hobby there are many factors affecting cost. My local shop owner was telling me some of things he has to look at such as profit margins differ for each manufacture and some give early settlement discount some don't, no of days to pay etc This can mean simple things to him like if stocks more or less of some manufacturers products or if he sells more but makes less money on each it is still worth stocking that item. In the context of this thread Heljan will charge a price for the class 58 on their terms and margins for sale by Heljan and the Efe model will then be produced and a price given to Bachmann who will add their own cut and retailer terms and margins. He did add some margins can vary by third or even a half from various companies and at the end of the day he needs to make money to stay open but as you can see not as easy to compare prices between companies by rrp alone.
  19. I have been lucky this has never happened to me at my local shop with Bachmann products but I have heard of it happening. Hopefully your local shop will get their full allocation and you get all your models as it looks to be a great model.
  20. On todays launch video they stated the 1P and new class 66's as all sold out to retailers prior to arrival in the UK meaning they can no longer order further stock. Your order will still be part of retailer's delivery but once retailer's sell out they won't be able to restock.
  21. Very true but if you are Bachmann you have sold all of these at full price to retailers and thus they have been a success. The retailers decide how much they feel they can sell and can discount as they feel necessary for any product to sell.
  22. Regardless of the price debate/moans Bachmann appear to be producing and selling what people want, the Deltics, 121's, 117's, 1P's and class 66's are all sold out at Bachmann. I know we don't know quantities but these have clearly been successful for Bachmann.
  23. You know how it would end with us all complaining that our favourite song wasn't included and why didn't they do the roaster 563 version as it could done in more liveries..........
  24. No more wish listing Hornby may announce a chestnut as part of their Xmas marketing campaign my moneys on a snowman
  25. On a serious note the 78xx does fit in with Bachmann's range very well as they have over the years done the majority of the BR Standards. Another left field suggestion could be the Class 92 which Kernow and Bachmann may have had access to all the research via the factory that now has all the old DJ models, I know there were rumours of legal challenges about the cad ownership but who knows how that ended?
