  1. It was a very busy layout wihout being cliched, loved it. I had a delightful discussion on the how and the why behind whitewashed platform lines😄 with the operator. He could have added further detail to the site but decided it was a step too far.
  2. It was good to be back there. There was a good mix of layouts and traders, and in my opinion it was good to search out the new release announcements, it felt like the old days when Warley was when announcements happened. Oh and if you've got a bad back don't buy a couple bags of ballast in the morning!
  3. Well at least I don't have to start a 3rd project because A/S have a new release, phew! I mean, I'm still getting one, it just that it fits with one of the existing projects. I'm actually saving money if you think about it. That's what I'll tell the other half anyways😉.
  4. Oops, still here, doesn't time fly! Somehow returning to normal work arrangements totally kyboshed most of my hobby plans throughout 2022. I finished most of the underboard wiring by Christmas last year but never returned to things again once the garage warmed up enough😕 Doesn't make for an interesting thread, but I was stuck with how to build my control panel and I think that stopped me from pottering when I wasn't really focused. Have to say Taunton Railex has really reignited my modelling mojo, so work is underway on connecting control panel to point motors ( not gone well tonight, possibly some help needed post's in the wiring forum areas soon!), Back boards are on my N gauge switching plank and scenic work started on that to continue through the worst of the winter. The building kitbash and wagon kits stash for Roshven is also poised to tide me over and keep progress over the worst of the winter. But I'm determined to get everything running before things get toochilly out in the garage. Honest, I am! Signs of life guys, signs of life.
  5. It's grey innit? Not sure how many even understand what the RFA is tbf .

I've been out in the rain all day, it's all their fault
  7. Whatever it is it's in the wrong livery. My wallet's staying firmly shut. (Least, that's what I told the Mrs)
  8. Looking good, it does seem that model red ballast taxes most Digi cameras. The prototype shot you posted on Saturday looks to be one of the earliest I've seen of Mallaig clearly showing red ballast in use. It seems to me from photos that it was a grey ballast in the 60s &70s with shots from the early 80s starting to show the red? Although to be honest the earlier photos show more oil spill than ballast colour, so I'm not sure if I'm imagining it? Unsure of Somerset😄
  9. I know! The cynic in me liked that little detail.😄 However for £19.99 I can get a Warley ticket and 6 months BRM physical subscription, that is an altogether better deal. (Unless of course you already have a sub).
  10. Really like the faded red paint, and being weirdly specific, the top door rail on the VEA really has a depth of rust/grease/faded paint that makes the whole seem very realistic. 👍
  11. Thank you for the update, given all the current difficulties that's actually a fair bit of good news in there. It must be "such fun" running a model railway company 😉
  12. Rails of Sheffield expect them by the end of the week according to today's update.

Hello all, Meet Smudge My better half has always professed to 'dislike' cats, until she saw him and he ended up being the last of his litter left. 9 months old, has very firmly stamped his territory out around the neighborhood, it's like we were never without the little g!!
  14. Thank you so much for posting these pictures. A few points however 1) Your host was the mighty "Fighting Ice-cream", Cornwall. Not to be confused with the lesser but still fine "Fighting Sausage". 2) They were finest ships of their time. 3) By God they could shift on the rare occasion all 4 turbines were put on line! Sorry to be an unnecessary pedant, my main reason for posting was to thank you, she was my first sea draft and it good to see her doing her thing again, happy memories.
  15. Oh! How far in nautical miles? (Sorry I'll get me coat😔)
  16. For those of us in the middle of a baseboard build.....
  17. What a lovely inspiring book that is presented beautifully, that's just from sitting down with it a few minutes ago. Also have to say how well and carefully packed it was by the Titfield Thunderbolt. Much appreciated. Right you won't hear much from me this evening, so thanks for that😉
  18. Interesting to me that Andy posted the pictures that he did. I found myself pausing for a very long time watching and chatting with the guy who'd built that. The standard of modelling caught me and the conversation of the prototype and what was out there to model that chosen area was very interesting. If anything was published those extra bits of information over and above what might be given with the description of a British outline model would add a lot IMO.
  19. The "North British Type 2" by Anthony P Sayer is the definitive guide for the details of these loco's and their liveries. Off the top of my head all the 29s were at first in two Tone green with maybe some of the latter conversions being outshopped in blue? The two photos posted at quick glance appear green, but to my eye, on closer inspection look to be pretty grubby 2 tone green. I'm sure someone who knows will be along to confirm shortly, but if not I'll dig my copy out and confirm for you when I get back from work.
  20. The Barnstaple line in North Devon has been discussed on here before and there's recently been some very good layouts depicting/based on it. Last rump of a big branch with some residual freight. TT you say, the tarka line was host to 31s for a number of years, along with 33s and DMUs. http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~cyberheritage/nostalgia/index.htm
  21. Possibly not, it's becoming a bit of a joke
  22. Reckon Bachmann are missing a trick by not offering a budget version of 08031 🤪 Oh well, guess I'll have to buck the nothing for me trend and order the pricey version they've gone with 😉
  23. Thank you Phil for the live feed, hope you all have a good day. Is it just me, but my Facebook feed crashed at that shirt and had to restart. Is that a whole new level in bad shirt power?😉
