  1. Hi Dave, the general condition of these on the market is pretty junky. I suppose its to be expected for low end stuff, but I rather like them as the litho is excellent and all five make a nice train. Brian.
  2. Hornby No.1 Special Pullman Set Southwest has just taken off from SeaTac and is levelling off over a rather pointy and snowy Mt. Rainier. Brian.
  3. A new angle I think not shewn before. DSCN8196.jpg I was expecting to see the pipe already installed! Brian.

Jock and I shared some E mail topics, most of which concerned Cornwall and the pictures taken of the County by our contributors. He must have liked it as much as I do. Brian.
  5. Lionel always had a two tier train system presumably for cost reasons. The cheaper line were known as Scouts where locos and stock were smaller and ran on the cheaper 027 track whereas the normal Lionel Lines were O gauge 031 and larger track. They were also more expensive. Lionel accessories tended to be overly large but there was also a Standard gauge line so the accessories covered all three scales. Brian.
  6. Its very busy; must be Market Day! Brian.
  7. The 'quiet period' at Brent was just right for s Sunday morning (over here anyway). You can savour the atmosphere; fire in the grate, teapot keeping warm and the clang of the bell from the signal box. Soon the signalled train will thunder through Brent non stop and the quiet period will return for a while. Brian.
  8. Although firmly in Swindon's fold, thanks to early exposure to Friary's complement of Southern locos, they made a firm impression on me at an early age. Everything from B4s and M7s to Ns, Us and T9s to the later West Countries. Even 756/7 and 758! Your T9 and 0-6-0 look great. Brian.
  9. To add to the above plaudits, the 'journey' was very effective, apart from Gandolf and his giant chums but fortunately Cornwall is renowned for its legends be they giants or piskies! Brian.
  10. If only the real world SBZ had so much activity! Brian.
  11. We all know 'Julie" now we know to which one. However, she is not generally associated with the type of statuesque ladies who normally brighten up SOS. Brian.
  12. Lovely engine that T9, it is indeed fortunate that one survives and runs. Pity poor C of T that no one loves anymore! Brian.
  13. On one of the more innocuous sites I visit, there would have been harrumphing by now due to non site related postings. These individuals don't know what they miss! Sad to say though as we age so do our fantasies so maybe there should be a rethink of those fantasies; When I read about JA now, thanks to type casting, she is a nun and not much younger than myself. Never mind, there's always the trains to take our minds off that sad fact! Brian.
  14. Drive anything bigger than a Morris Minor down there and you'll probably find out as branches and the odd rock scrape the sides! Brian.
  15. Very convincing, Andy, in fact I had a double take of the first one by the signal. Brian.
  16. Ad even more fun on some Devonshire lanes! Brian.
  17. I think that you would find that most here have taken a sabbatical from modelling at some time. Usually its between the single state before girls and all that means and retirement. Brian.
  18. Now yer talkin', 83D! Laira was an interesting shed, one usually found lots of good stuff there especially on summer Saturday specials. The oil burners were interesting also at the time but they didn't last long. You could always tell them from afar - they were much cleaner. I always hoped to see all the dock tanks in one place but it seemed that there was always one missing! I was lucky enough to see the last of the Bulldogs, Saints and Stars before the inevitable. Never did like the BR stuff, they always looked like intruders but then it was nearly all over as were my spotting days. That's when I hung up my gabardine raincoat as it had too many other connotations by then! Brian.
  19. The above King comments were interesting to say the least. Kings seem to be like buses and we all know how they come as apparently Kings do also! In the serious business of quality and detail, etc, surely there can't be too much difference in the different brands these days, in which case the manufacturer offering the best value wins out. Brian.
  20. The best pasties were made by your mother especially if 'er were Cornish! None of this foreign stuff! Amazing how we check out this thread to look at train pictures and end up with pasties! Brian.
