Tool says my Dell workstation laptop can't run Windows 11, but fails to elaborate why. Guessing it's TPM since all the usual specs are far in excess of WIn11 minimum. Having never heard of a TPM til now, guess I'll be hearing a lot about it as the rollout goes live.

Here is an Escort done well (It's my phone's shabby camera making it appear pink not helped by the clear blue sky, it was perfectly red!)

00 "V" brake hangers.
Quarryscapes replied to Siberian Snooper's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
The same as any plastic , whitemetal or etched V Hanger. -
Looks like a proper dog's dinner that. No doubt flies though!

Going for the Record?
Quarryscapes replied to luckymucklebackit's topic in UK Prototype Discussions (not questions!)
Well, did they do it? -
If you'd previously turned off item sold messages as I had - since Paypal were also telling me I'd been paid - you now need to turn them back on or you won't get notified.

Smaller than Slater's Hornblocks and Frame Bushes
Quarryscapes replied to Quarryscapes's topic in 7mm+ modelling
I do have some of these stashed away. Although I'd need to fabricate a jig to hold them for machining rather than trying to ream a load out by hand. They are actually still over size really for Cambrian locos (but they can at least be made to work. Might have to go down this route. Not sure what the life expectancy would be mind! This is not perfectly aligned (the scale of the G.A. scan is not constant) but you get the idea on size - inner circle os 3/16, outer is 5/16 which is the normal OD for 3/16 bushes and bearings. A K&S thin wall 3/16 tube would fit inside the scale hornblock, just. Slater's Hornblocks on the other hand.... -
Problem with your browser adding the details to the form before the form is finished loading. Wait till it's all loaded, type it in and it should be fine. Chrome goes a bit squiffy with this too, but ebay does at least recognise the password even if the auto filled field appears blank!

Smaller than Slater's Hornblocks and Frame Bushes
Quarryscapes replied to Quarryscapes's topic in 7mm+ modelling
That's too far the other way. There's not a lot out there for 3/16" axles. -
Commercial ones are probably using third party software to manage their ebay sales, they are unlikely to ever actually log in to the actual ebay website. At work, we use VOLO Origin, which does not manage feedback. Once a month someone will just go in to the website and blanket feedback everything.

Do these exist? Currently working on some chassis designs, but the Slater's bushes are ginormous and the sprung hornblocks are so big they stick out way beyond the frame outlines of the small locomotives I'm building. There must be another option out there?

Ebay sale from UK to EU buyers from 1st of July - VAT!!!
Quarryscapes replied to John M Upton's topic in Ebay Topics
Snowflakery at it's best. You literally don't need to do a thing, except pass the IOSS number eBay give you on to whoever you use for shipping if you don't use eBay postage labels. Royal Mail expects to have the functionality sorted by then, I can't speak for other couriers. It has nothing to do with the Global Shipping program. -
Speedo is taken from the gearbox, which is still rotating. Plus the speedo "needle" is heavily damped otherwise it would swing around wildly like old Minis. Most cars will still show acceleration during gear change whilst the needle catches up with reality.

3D Printed Pre-Grouping Wagons 4mm-7mm
Quarryscapes replied to woko's topic in 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, CAD & CNC
Oh yes it does. It's all made up of cubes, just like the pixels on a screen. Resolution of those cubes is important, And if printing in resin it won't always get the excess uncured stuff out of a groove. Then there's material shrinkage and getting the exposure just right to actually get the theoretical dimensions to carry over to the real world....Just because you can make perfectly accurate prototypical CAD doesn't mean it will print like that. -
Edwardian GWR turntable for Sherton Abbas
Quarryscapes replied to wenlock's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
Just remembered about this photo you may like - ex GWR and soon to be GWR again 2-4-0 as Cambrian Railways No.10 on the turntable at Afon Wen about 1921. -
That's been lowered, and I can guarantee it'll hurt to drive! (My old Roadster had Eibach springs on Mk1 Bilsteins until I changed to Coilovers)
-
Probably very close to what was on it before - 225/50 17 down to 225/40 18, 7J vs 8J. The improvement is down to Crappy budget winter tyres vs Michelin Primacy 4s. Dammit OCD compels me to calculate the relative volumes now! About an 11% decrease in air volume.

Terrible phone pic again, but C30 No.2 looking quite good following a busy weekend of work. Eibach springs on Bilstein B4 shocks with new top mounts and bump stops all round, EBC Redstuff pads up front replacing awful Brembos, and finally new 18" Wheels with some nice new Michelin Primacy 4s. Feels like a totally different car,the MPG is already improved by some 5% and I haven't even got the tyre pressures up to their correct values yet. Still more work to do - I have a Whiteline Anti Lift kit from my old Mazda 3 sat on new wishbones waiting to go on, although I'm waiting for a few bits to make some modifications in light of experience on the Mazda (Replacing the air escape blank plugs with grease nipples and replacing the regular thrust washers, which are just M22 washers, with some larger diameter discs which will cover the join between inner and outer bush halves and hopefully keep the dirt out) as well as some Superpro bushes to replace the front bush (I had Powerflex camber adjustables on the Mazda, but they were crap, I had to put them on my lathe to make them fit) . I also discovered the LH Outer CV Gaiter has got a split and on my way home the Passenger side Central locking motor gave up. Bloody Cars!

Festiniog Railway Rolling Stock in 16mm
Quarryscapes replied to Quarryscapes's topic in 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, CAD & CNC
Haven't posted an update for a while. I now have a Photon Mono printer as an experiment. I had hoped it would be able to print wooden wagon stock, but it isn't capable of producing acceptable quality of such large parts. It is however producing good small parts, and I'm currently working out how to get the best results on axleboxes. Terrible phone pics I'm afraid. Having not been happy with point supports, I opted to include my own Knife edge support in the axlebox CAD, which works really well. Something irritating is going on with the printer with models in a certain section of the build plate not sticking. I have also been experimenting with a new Italian supplier for Iron wagon bodies, and next time I'm in the workshop I'll be nailing down the correct fit of these axleboxes with the MJF printed bodies. I've already deepened the bearing recess in the axleboxes to make wheel fitting a little easier. -
Absolutely stunning wagons, well done Rapido! NEM pockets and Tension locks really are ugly though aren't they.

Used car prices are crazy anyway 15 year old, worn out rust buckets at £4k plus? What's happened to the world?

I'm not familiar with that software, so don't know the menu operations, but if you're seeing "export as STL" I imagine that should do it. If you want to share as a STEP or even whatever the native file format is, I can more readily tweak any bits that need tweaking should the need arise (and I can pull accurate measurements from it, STL can only give me the max bounding box).
