  1. Must admit I jumped to blaming Morris for the dire design. Try googling "pugin wallpaper"....
  2. You do know that it wasn't the green wallpaper in his bedroom that saw off Napoleon?
  3. Brawn says Didn't he see Hamilton slicing through the field in the last laps yesterday? A fair bit of skillful overtaking there! Or was he watching the race through red-tinted blinkers?
  4. Probably genuine, original William Morris hideous wallpaper! (L@@K, RARE!!!)
  5. What I thought was interesting was the C4 commentary team trying to work out why there was no pit-lane indication that it was closed when Hamilton was called in by Mercedes. No one, including the ineffable DC could work out why there was no indication. It turned out that there were two boards showing the lane was closed on the outside of the curve appoaching the pits that Hamilton had passed without noticing so both the team and driver were at fault for ignoring the closure. However, its odd that there was no indication board on the pit lane side that the pits were closed and the indicator boards passed weren't really in the line of sight of a driver making a pit approach. Anyhow, none of Hamiltons close competitors were in a position to capitalise on the penalty, the points situation is more or less as it was before the race, but it was certainly a race full of more than the usual share of incident!
  6. When I saw "it is good we have no fans", I thought Vettel was admitting that hardly anyone supports them anymore, rather than no one was allowed in!
  7. Sounds like a ruddy weird race! It didn't seem to have hurt Hamiltons standings too badly, since Verstappen and Bottas didn't shine either. But congrats to the podium gang, nontheless! And what happened to the Red Slugs? I'll definitely have to watch the highlights!
  8. I wouldn't dare! The thing is, that if keen modellers admit to having unbuilt kits in drawers, and a number of part-built kits in service, then what hope is there for those who wouldn't mind having a rake of RTR generic model that looks the part at ordinary viewing distance at a price and finish that won't break the wallet? Its better than having a train of ex-Triang clerestory coaches* bumping about behind the latest exquisite RTR loco! I know the subject has been rehashed interminably through the previous 85 pages of posts, so I won't go further. * The dictionary definition of "generic"?
  9. Just been following qualifying on BBC livestream. Someone texted the question "At what point do we call Ferrari a mid-field team?". Given their performance today, with Vettel qualifying mid-Q1 and Leclerc qualifying mid-Q2, the question might be better asked as "Are Ferrari now a third division team?" With the Mercs on the first row, the second row is positively unfamiliar! And Hamilton gets the positively gaudy Pirelli Pole Position award too... Finally given the fad for "towing" perhaps AA vans should be stationed around the track... Its all too much...
  10. So long as they go faster than a Sunbeam Alpine...
  11. But the V2s were almost as effective as the A3s!
  12. The lorry looks much better already! Hmmm... About that time WBC were selling off their allotments for development, mainly housing. I don't think allotments in "central" West Kirby would have stood a dogs chance of surviving. In the real world, the Council sold off the allotments that skirted the Wirral Way (aka the Joint) from Church Road towards Sandy Lane for housing development by "Poco Homes" who crammed a lot of typical 70s tiny houses onto the plot. You could have a housing development under construction, with miniscule foundation rafts.... I often mount scenic elements on sub-boards, it makes changing for different eras, completely different locales and for wholesale redevelopment so much easier! For example, I have a simple BLT that, depending on the scenic elements used, does duty for HO, two different OO and O16.5 layouts!
  13. As far as the Noch HO figures go, they're fairly broadly painted; and the actions portrayed are fairly risible. If you have to have such things, then its up to you. In N gauge, I suspect that everything is more or less in the imagination of the beholder. Are they delivered in plain brown covers?
  14. I generally record the highlight programme* so I can skip through the chat and ads when I watch it later! * Its not as if we don't know the results anyway, and if I'm at a loose end, I'll watch the BBC text coverage on the live webpage.
  15. I can see the puddles of drool forming already. Nurse! The bibs!!!
  16. The "Welsh" ones are on the North Hoyle Bank/Rhyl Flats, the "English" ones on Burbo Bank.
  17. I could convince myself to get a D Class, its so pretty....
  18. Nice view of the sea, pity about Rhyl and the mobile home sites in front of it!
  19. Yes?! Wouldn't want to see one of these on a plate..... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coelacanth
  20. I was in two minds about that, but thought black would be best. Anyhow, it wouldn't be chrome, just silver paint with lots of dents and rust showing through. And if you could find a 7mm scale Michelin Man...
  21. Can't be Ned, he's not wearing his tin hat!
  22. The red wasp stripes on the bumper aren't very BR, a quick dab of black paint should sort that out. Looks good!
