  1. I can't see anything wrong. Can somebody please shed some light on this for me? . . . . . . Ah!
  2. Useful to me, certainly. I'm about to employ some of these for Easton. Timely post, your first one!
  3. More like a gentle prod . . . .
  4. Although he probably won't acknowledge it, Steve is perfectly capable of doing the weathering. Just look at that tin hut and coaling stage.
  5. Although the track is stuck down and won't fall off if you upturn the boards, it can be removed without any soaking with anything. It has a lot of grip, does Copydex, but exerting pressure can unstick it. I have used a steel rule pushed under the sleepers and twisted slightly to remove track and points, when making mistakes on my layout, without damage. It's almost as if I knew I'd get it wrong somehere.
  6. Biggest con is the smell. Biggest pro is the ease with which you can correct errors. If I was you I'd stick with PVA. But I'm not!
  7. 50/50 is just about right as long as it's a fairly new bottle. I opened a year-old bottle a couple of months ago and it was thicker than I expected and had gained a brownish tinge. It worked fine as a ballast glue, however, but seemed to need a bit more like 60/40 water/glue.
  8. That implies that it has taken over 25 years to date and a whole vast team of people have been involved during those years.
  9. This dilemma faces operators of Much Murkle, Nick Wood's exhibition layout. The running sequence (such as it is) includes an operator waiting for a gap in the viewing queue and surreptitiously removing the magnetised coal load of two 5/6/7-plank opens with another magnet glued to a coffee stirrer. If no such gap appears by the required time, then the viewers are politely asked to look the other way for a moment, which sometimes elicits amusing comments.
  10. If it comes to that, it's probably Tuesday in Little Muddle today, as well!
  11. On a Sunday? Little Muddle is obviously an important place.
  12. Thank you very much to all those who took the trouble to respond to my request. I now have all the information that I need to assemble my trains, and will be proceeding with that task forthwith. I'm hoping that Bachmann will not be too long in producing their Bulleid coaches so that I can use some of those to represent the early 1950s trains that ran from Waterloo to the South Western (not the Central) area. If I buck my ideas up and get on with layout construction, I might have time to make up some kits for suburban traffic before the workshop has to close for age reasons.

Missenden Abbey Railway Modellers Autumn Weekend was cancelled because of Covid-19 restrictions. An online event has been organised with the intention of offering a small taste of the Missenden experience, with textual, recorded and live sessions available to all. Visit the website on the days of the event by going to https://www.missendenrailwaymodellers.org.uk/
  14. I would have liked to be able to acknowledge the helpfulness of your post, John, but there is no option at the bottom of it to allow me to do that, hence this quoted entry.
  15. Nice timing. It's almost as if you'd planned it that way.
  16. Absolutely wonderful! And so is your control panel.
  17. I have had good results with this: https://www.migjimenez.com/en/acrylic-colors/1189-ultra-matt-lucky-varnish.html BUT, I have to say not 100% good. With one application I had to remove (IPA) and replace because of a white discolouration. I'm certain that that was because I hd applied it too thickly. Building up with thin coats is recommended.
  18. Kevin had already done that. Do try and keep up.
  19. Yes, Paul, I got that - hence my laughing icon response. Don't be serious, whatever you do.
