  1. Good evening, everyone. This evening, thanks to knoxrj, Paul Kearley, John Turner, Peter Brumby, and Jack Beeston Rail Photography, all on Flickr, we can enjoy a further four photo’s. The first one is a view of class J72, 68670, at Hull Springhead, on the 24th August, 1952. The second photo’ shows Thompson LNER Class 01, 63663, of 41H Staveley shed, as it heads a westbound 'class H' freight along the 'up slow' at Brough, East Yorkshire, in c1959. Next we have a photo’ of class D20, 724, in the 1930’s at what would appear to be the approach to Seamer, on a working from Scarborough to either Hull or York. Finally, here’s a photo’ of 20007 and 20205 on an RHTT, 3S14, at Beverley station, at 18.50 on the the 17th October, 2018. Best regards, Rob.
  2. Good evening, David. That’s a fantastic set of photo’s of Switzerland, looking down near Steinerberg. C10656, of Re4/4ii, heading a Basel to Chiasso service, is a most atmospheric view, with the train on the curve from between the trees. The Swayfield photo’s, from the early 1970’s, are an excellent selection. J2847, of Class 31, 5601, on a down emoty coaching stock train, in March, 1972, is a well composed photo’ of a clean 31, and the quite short train, which includes three Mkl sleeping cars. With warmest regards, Rob.
  3. Good evening, everyone. This evening we have four more photo’s to enjoy. They are thanks to knoxrj, Paul Kearley, John Turner, and Andy Hughes, all on Flickr. The first one is a view of class R, later class D20, 725, near Scarborough, in late NER days. Next we have a photo’ of class N10, 69096, at Hull Dairycoates, on the 18th May, 1952. The third photo’ is a quite rare shot of Ruston & Hornsby Class LPSH 0-4-0DH (RH 513139/1967) "Herbert Turner" at APCM Melton Quarry - c.1971. The loco was new to APCM Barnstone Cement Works, Nottinghamshire and was originally named "The Herbert Turner" moving to Melton some time in 1970. By the date of this photo, "The" had been dropped from its name and indeed the nameplate looks rather crude (you can just see a hint of the original longer plate). Extra information from the caption on Flickr. Finally, here’s a photo’ of 56006, as it makes it's way out of Hull Hedon Road sidings in charge of train, 6D54, Hull Docks to Doncaster Belmont Yard, on the 17th January, 2003. Best regards, Rob.
  4. Good evening, David. That’s a great selection of photo’s of the Yorkshire Dales Railway at Embsay in 1972, 1983 and 1984. J3029, of Avonside, Fred, in August, 1972, is a delightful portrait shot by your Dad. The photo’s at Chinley North Junction, on the Midland Railway's line from Sheffield to Manchester, on the 15th October, 1977, are a superb set. J5828, of class 46, 46011, on a Manchester to Parkeston Quay service, is an excellent composition with the Peak clearly accelerating. With warmest regards, Rob.
  5. Good evening, everyone. This evening it is time for another four photo’s to enjoy. They are courtesy of knoxrj, John Turner, and the KDH archive, all on Flickr. The first photo’ is a view of class B13, 738, on a freight train, at Hull Dairycoates, in c1932. Next we have a photo’ of world famous pressrved Gresley A3 4-6-2, 4472, "Flying Scotsman", at Dairycoates (50B) depot, Hull, on the 21st September, 1968. The "Pacific" worked the LCGB "East Riding Limited" rail tour from Kings Cross to Hull and back, and was turned and serviced at Dairycoates prior to working the return portion of the special. The third photo’ shows 37136 which is thought to have been a Tinsley loco at the time, which is reversing empty stock back into Bridlington on 14th June, 1975, to probably form a Bridlington to Sheffield service. Finally, here’s a photo’ of EWS class 37’s, 37676 & 37695, with the Hull to Doncaster 'Enterprise' freight at a bitterly cold Melton, East Yorkshire, on the 1st March, 2004. Best regards, Rob.
  6. Good evening, David. That’s a great set of photo’s of firstly the Blyth trackbed of the line to the staiths, and then Blyth power station, and the west staiths. C6807, at Blyth West staiths, with 08747, on the 16th April, 1985, is a well composed shot with much of interest in the busy scene. The photo’s of Brockley Whins (formerly Boldon Colliery) are a fascinating selection. The first photo’ is an excellent shot of a Class 101, on a down Sunderland to Newcastle service, on the 23rd June, 1984. The unit is perfectly framed by the footbridge. With warmest regards, Rob.

The first one shows class J11, 5214, on the turntable at Hornsea, sometime in the 1930’s. Next we have a photo’ of Tennant, 1467, leaving Scarborough. Apologies for the quality of the photo’ but it’s of some historical interest. The third photo’ is a view of class J73, 68363, at Hull Springhead, on the 18th May, 1952. Finally, here is a photo’ of 31233 on train, 3Q01, the 13.22 from Derby R.T.C. to Neville Hill T&R.S.M.D on the 24th February, 2016. Best regards, Rob.

The photo’s of Carlisle, with one photo’ from 1986, and the rest from 1987, are a superb selection. The third photo’ is a view of class J23, 2477, awaiting scrap at Springhead shed, in May, 1937. Finally, here’s a photo’ with the freezing fog breaking enough to allow a bit of weak sunshine through, illuminating the frozen trees nicely, with 37422 'Victorious' as it heads for Gilberdyke with train 3J51. Best regards, Rob.
  10. Good evening, David. That’s a great set of photo’s from around Gamston. J4990, of 47523, on the 13.10 Kings Cross to Leeds and Bradford service in October, 1975, is a impressive three quarter shot of the 47. The black and white photo’s, with one in colour, of Grantham, are a superb and historical selection. The second photo’ shows class J72, 69023, Joem, at York Layerthorpe, on the 13th May, 1978. A shame the line did not succeed as a tourist line. The photo’s from around Radcliffe on Trent are a superb selection. J5746, of 20135 and another one, on a Derby to Skegness express, in August, 1977, is a excellent photo’ of a typical extra Summer train in the mid Seventies. With warmest regards, Rob.

With warmest regards, Rob.
  15. Good evening, everyone. Firstly, thank you, Boris, for the most informative and detailed explanation of why things are the way they are between Bridlington and Scarborough. I can only agree with you, and the service is the best we have had between those places for a very long time. So, time for another four photo’s courtesy of knoxrj, and Andy Hughes, both on Flickr. The first photo’ is not perfect, but is a good shot of class G5, 1701, at Hull Paragon station, in the 1930’s, with a Sentinel Cammell steam railcar on the left. Next we have a photo’ of Alexandra Docks shed, in c1925, which includes Y7 No 985, Y7 984 and J74 No 82, among the other locomotives. The third photo’ shows class G5, 7305, on a Beverley to Hull, Push and Pull train, near Cottingham, on a sunny 19th July, 1947. It would later work train, 8T61, the 20:00 Cottingham to Doncaster. 18th March, 2001. Best regards, Rob.

C6390, of Metro 4016, leading a Heworth to St James service, in January, 1984, is a superb and well composed photo’. The photo’s of the southern end of Toton are full of interest and nostalgia. The last photo’ of 25051, on a down freight train, in August, 1983, is an excellent photo’, and a dent can clearly be seen on the bottom of the corner of the cab end on the driver’s side.
