  1. Thanks for thank bigherb - yup I was Not really thinking when I was having a play J
  2. A list would be most grateful of where people are finding suitable castings. If anyone is getting some bits is there a chance anyone could perhaps pick me up some castings from the show? Two of Paul’s etches arrived a few weeks back. Payments can be arranged. PM me please! Help much appreciated from the land down under. James
  3. Graham just arrived down under. However the blanking plug seems a little too short. Anyone else have this problem? Following with interest the P4 conversion. I was thinking either, Ultrascale wheels pushed back on the Hornby original axles? Or a branchlines chassis?
  4. If you are after a H Class, Ruston has just scratch build several in 4mm scale so might be able to point you in the direction of some drawings J
  5. Thanks for the reply guys. I was actually thinking of using spare replacement C.17 towers (from Howes) to remotor a Alexander Models C.15. Main reason for question is I can only get C.17 spare towers and bogie side frames. I hadn’t thought of re-bogeying a C.17 with C.15 towers, good idea though. I have found that when striping some non runners (C.16 especially) that the axles that hold all the idler gears snap off and then ‘float’ around the gear casing - which might be some of the problems that people have with poor running.
  6. Hi all - quick question/confirmation Could any one confirm that both the Class 15 and 17 gear towers and bogie side frames are the same? They look identical other than perhaps the bogie mounting to the chassis/footplate casting. Cheers, J
  7. Evening All, I have a couple of questions regarding liveries and years 'worn' before I go ahead and order one that people maybe able to help with: 1) the J70's that worked the Wissington Railway between 1943 - 1948 - does anyone know which livery did they wore? I have copy of the book and it only has a picture of one of the locos in 1953 at Colchester, after its service on the Wissington Railway. 2) What years was the insignia 'BRITISH RAILWAY' in yellow worn? Im guessing 1948 to ? 3) When did they get the early BR wheel and lion emblem? 4) did 'NE' come after 'LNER' Cheers for the help, James
  8. With Hatton's confirming that they are only doing the 6' WB - (thanks Porcy for asking) - does that open the possibility for High Level to produce some WB variations? e.g. 7' WB? that is assuming there are not too many above WB changes also? J
  9. Thanks Gandy Dancer! Keep them coming - find these videos fascinating. Cheers, J
  10. Well I just got an email saying they just about on the boat! ETD 16th March 2018 give or take a few days. Good News I say.
  11. Thanks Adam. The other colliery videos are good too
  12. My mistake - nope I don’t have or had that big capacitor attached to mine.
  13. Nope, I’ve got a capcitor on the one I have too. Edit - added some pictures
  14. Seems like things are still ticking along - new blog post out https://www.southwoldrailway.co.uk/a-giant-cheque-as-winter-draws-in/ Plus some pictures of the ongoing resto of Scaldwell can be found here: https://m.facebook.com/groups/1137825416307590 Looks to be in not too bad a condition...
  15. I’d be keen for a couple...maybe some New brake gear too..?
  16. Anyone heard anything or know what is happening?
  17. As the title of the blog states - looks like a step backwards. Not sure that things are looking positive in the short term for Scaldwell. There is a new blog post on the Southwold Railway Website: Back to the old days at the Trust "On November 3rd, James Hewett resigned as Chairman and as a Trustee of the Southwold Railway Trust. For several years, he had been attempting to modernise the management of the Trust, and inject some professionalism into the way it was run: these are essential changes as the organisation moves from … You can read this new post at https://www.southwoldrailway.co.uk/back-to-the-old-days-at-the-trust/ All the best and many thanks for your interest in Southwold Railway. From the SR Team". If anyone has any more information, please share. Obviously not great for Scaldwell - partly dismantled and now in the care of people that it would seem (unless anyone has another view?) do not have the resto of this machine as a priority. Cheers, James EDIT - looks like the Blog article has been pulled off the web. EDIT 2 - typo.
  18. Unless anyone happens to see him at Warley over the weekend and can Ask on my behalf J
  19. Hi Everyone, Has anyone been in contact with Dave recently? I tried the email, but it seems to no longer work. Will try calling (I'm calling from Australia) this week. Chasing a 10800 Kit. James
  20. I thought I would start on post on a similar theme as discussed in "Death Steam" of pictures of transition diesels to the scrapheap - inspired by this picture of a C.16 enroute to the grave. Are there any more photos showing the movement of the transition classes enroute to the scrapheap? This photo shows that they were clearly not just moved in two's or three's like steam locomotives with brake vans in between. James
  21. Thanks Michael, I had pondered (as I am sure others have) about how to adapt one of your 15" Hunslet Kits - looks like a little more scratch building required! Not just a case of providing a chassis to sit under your 15" and 16" kits then!
  22. A master piece Mike! I have no need for one, but I’m going to get a Fell! (To add to GT3 and all those other experiments) What about a 10800? Seems like you are working brought the Ivatt/Paxman list J
