And I respect you for the determination/effort! Its not for me, however, so I have resigned to my fate (of not having this type of wagon) unless Hornby changes their methodology.
-
I'm one of those "wanting to order some" people, but I absolutely can not be bothered with ordering two from here, two from there, two from elsewhere... I got excited about being able to get some (I missed out on the Hattons run) with the initial Hornby announcement, but life is too short for chasing around dozens of shops for ones and twos, I have other things I'd rather be spending my time on I will also be unimpressed if when ebay is full of "new, unused" Drax wagons a few weeks after release, too...

Jim’s “out and about with GBRf” thread
Tugs replied to big jim's topic in UK Prototype Discussions (not questions!)
Hopefully the quote formatting works out, but: isn't it even stabled next to your loco from Bescot last night? (Or maybe you've seen 2 of the 3 in one day!) Love the photos and videos Jim, and congratulations on the weight loss journey so far!!! -
Looking good Phil! I'm sure someone will post a photo immediately to correct me after I say this, but if you're going for "full authenticity" for the rail loaded Land Rovers, you need to snip the Clansman aerials off, leaving just a short stub at the base. Something like the attached photo. You'll often see the stub antenna for newer comms systems and ECM equipment left on for transport, but the Clansman (and newer Bowman) antenna are always removed for rail transport.

Me too!

My wagons arrived today, and I am a very happy man. They look absolutely stunning, I will have to make sure I take plenty of reference images for weathering when I get to mess with the 12”-to-the-foot scale versions for work soon! I did, however, have one “faulty” wagon - one of the KFA(3) wagons had alternating brake discs on a single axle. That is one axle on one bogie had an outer brake disc on the left wheel, and an inner brake disc on the right wheel, again; on one axle. (Rather than both discs on one wheel on the “first” axle of the bogie, and both discs on the opposite wheel on the “second” axle of the bogie). Nothing a careful application of modelling can’t solve, however! Absolutely 5 stars for another stunning Cavalex product, and a HUGE thank you to Trains4U for commissioning it!

Getting very jealous now! Watching the postman like a hawk when he arrives every day. Hopefully not much longer to wait... They look gorgeous in the photos people have been posting, I'm sure they look immeasurably better in the flesh!

Cavalex Models All new RTR HAA and variants in 4mm scale
Tugs replied to Grimleygrid's topic in Cavalex
This is very much a case of perspective. The Hornby offering is still £24.95/wagon, which if you consider what you're getting in terms of the accuracy and the quality of the red-box model, your variant still does represent value for money!!! And yes, while the other team's product is a little bit cheaper, I'm happy to keep my order for the Cavalex variants because I'd much rather have two successful, high-quality, and still reasonably priced manufacturers producing the kinds of "modern" wagons I'm interested in. You may save some £££ in the short run, but by putting all your eggs in one basket (purposefully avoiding hitching-your-wagons puns here!!!) you can only do harm by limiting variety in the future. -
Modern image Re-painting, Detailing and Weathering thread.

You can say that again -
Well this is fantastic news!!!

Not wanting to be impatient or impertinent (or any other 'im' word) but seeing the updates for the HAAs and CDAs has also got me excited again for these - I know it would be reported if there was, but I can't help but ask: is there any update on these wagons?
-
Not that its a surprise, but these are looking fantastic! Current quality from the "smaller" guys on modern image stock is just phenominal. Makes the wait that much harder!

Accurascale announces at KUA in OO gauge
Tugs replied to adb968008's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
Mine arrived yesterday, too. One buffer and one ladder off, but nothing a little bit of modelling can't resolve (plus, I'd rather stick with Accurascale's finess and suffer the occasional loose item, than have the horrendus blobs of excess glue that can be found on other products!) Truly wonderful wagons, yet another tick in the box for the Accurascale team! -
No, I agree. I'm definitely not trying to blanket anything, and given the number of things being produced at the factory issues will always slip through the net. Gladly, the AS team are utterly fantastic at resolving issues it would seem, tho I've been lucky enough that I've only had to deal with change of delivery address issues, which definitely wasn't AS's fault! I'm a bit wary of couriers, having had plenty of bad experiences (the most recent of which involved a fairly high spec work server being transformed from a cube to a rhombus by rough handling at the hands of a large/well known courier service...), so I always start at the point of most likely problems.
-
So I checked over my bundle pack yesterday, and all 6 wagons are exactly as they should be, nothing loose, nothing detached, nothing missing. I think you've been unlucky with the courier mistreating the parcel, rather than Accurascale's QA slipping.

Short HYA, by Accurascale
Tugs replied to Accurascale Fran's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
The depth of field (I'm assuming the dodgy setting was an aperture one?) gives for a bit of a tilt-shift effect that makes these look like models. And between Accurascale's models, and your modelling, is not very far for the imagination to stretch at all! (I'm still not entirely convinced that these aren't the pre-production models trundling round a layout!!!) -
Mine just arrived, but I'll have to wait until I've finished work to have a look at them! (So close, yet so far!!!)

Yeah, these look fantastic Is there any chance of doing the unbranded/"plain" ones as shown by newbryford above? I would basically just have work send my pay direct to you guys if that were the case! -
The warehouse team must be working furiously, as I just got my shipping and delivery confirmation emails! (Excited!!!)

Other than disappointment, I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve here? Accurascale themselves have said (not 3 posts before yours) that these will not arrive in the UK before March. I'd tend to believe the Accurascale team over what a retailer (who has a reputation for being dodgy) says on their website! We'll all have to be patient, and look forward to the arrival of these wagons in March!
