  1. You could try asking the people who are making the 3D prints of the diesels if they'd do an 81.
  2. I've seen four videos but the two slipping ones are by the same person, "Max Madd"! I suggested that it wasn't a good idea to leave it slipping just to video it!!
  3. Several people have theirs, photos and videos on FB. One has issues but he's not sure what's causing them, just a video of wheels spinning! The others seem to be working ok... Looks very nice! Mine's due on Monday but I'm on late shift so won't see it until Tuesday!
  4. I had two emails, seems one from ccl-logistics with the shipping number and the other DPD the bad link, combined the two and it worked! It's coming Monday according to them.
  5. Yep, had my email this morning, not long now... Must get down to Footplate and chase up those right hand Peco points!!
  6. Good point re couplers, though if I do get some BTTB stuff I'll keep them in rakes... I suppose Rule 1 would apply, but in this case I have a British heritage line to follow, so not un-prototypical!
  7. It rather depends on what you are going to be modelling, my layout, whilst based in the NW, will feature Continental stock like the Nene Valley heritage line does... I'll be visiting Slovakia in May and will be looking out for some suitable secondhand TT stock...
  8. I think that if you got a Scotsman set and had pre ordered track packs you also got them.
  9. People enjoy different things, whilst I feel the same way as you about how things work I'll also accept that the majority don't. I'd question if it is a recent "change" either, I think most people will use stuff without caring about how it works, they just accept that it does, and that's been the same since the days of the horse and cart, it's not a new thing. Some guy invented the wheel, people said "Oh that's a good idea, I'll use that!", but without any thought to the workings or development of it! Everyone's different! :)
  10. Meccano... (Well Frank did!) :)
  11. Strange, even though I'm a member of several TT120 FB groups and haven't blocked adverts I haven't seen an advertising by Hornby for TT120, do see some of their more general ads, though.
  12. I was simply making the point that most people, from the 70s onwards, didn't have the skills, nor wanted to have them, they just wanted a reliable car. I wasn't much of a mechanic even back then but none of my friends had any idea about their car other than checking the tyres and oil. In depth knowledge of the workings of cars and the ability to fix them when they went wrong by the masses probably disappeared in the 50s/60s. It's very easy when on a thread like this one, surrounded by knowledgeable people, to make the assumption that everyone is similar, truth is most people are mechanically ignorant and have been for many decades.
  13. As they haven't done much/any of the advertising they said they were going to probably not many sales outside the model railway enthusiast/collectors market so far. Seems to be selling well enough without the "outside" sales, something Hornby and others have been surprised about i suspect.
  14. I really don't follow that, I can't see if it's any different whether they do direct sales or retail. I suspect its more of an attitude that it's up to others if they join Hornby. The more stuff that's available the more likely it will succeed do discouraging others would be counter productive.
  15. It's also worth pointing out that those mechanical cars that some people like so much were only reparable if people had the skills, the majority didn't. A modern car, even with its electronics will still be more reliable than those old ones and go for higher milages, you just need to look at the ads which show milages way beyond those a typical car of the 60s and 70s would go.
  16. Let's not go down that rabbit hole, the two are different. TT:120 is modern RTR, TT3 isn't, so no real rivalry?
  17. The point I was making is that for banned drivers or those that haven't a licence it IS a deliberate act, they knew before getting in that driver's seat that they shouldn't be there. So can be treated the same way as a gun crime.
  18. What about the ones who are banned or have no licence, I'd have thought that was deliberate but the courts don't seem to see it that way and they can just get done with careless driving!
  19. Two, actually! 🤣 There were lots of things that caused them problems, not least of which was they had multiple brands but weren't allowed to rationalise as that would have meant factory closures (which were desperately needed) but would have been out of bounds for the Governments of the time... Had they be allowed to go down to one or possibly two makes (a run of the mill and an upmarket one) and cut down the factories to the most efficient ones for mass car production they would probably have been ok, but that was never going to happen. So we just saw one section taking sales off another with other manufacturers able to concentrate on one model eating into their market, only at the beginning of the 80s did we start to see a more rational approach but even then it was too fragmented... I always feel it was a shame the Rover/Honda collaboration wasn't allowed to continue, but once they sold it off to BMW that was the end... There were some good cars in the Group but they tended to be underdeveloped, the Maxi being a good example, way ahead of it's time but strangled by internal politics (though much of that is down to BMC rather than BL, but continued by BL), even the Metro was kept going too long...
  20. I'm thinking along the lines of an arm from the tiebar to some sort of angle crank (did GEM do something similar?) with the indicator stuck on top so it rotates but wondered if anyone had tried it before. We have a point on Mittgenburg which is on the opposite side of the layout and it's difficult to see which was it's set!
  21. I know there are electronic point position indicators but wonder if anyone has done a manual version in the smaller scales? I have seen these in real life and would like to see if I can do a working version in H0e. I have a non working version which I'd like to make into a working version. The points are Peco mainline with Peco point motor and accessory switch for the frog polarity.
  22. A bit big, then, the Czech Mallets have 750mm wheels... Could be useful for those who model Spanish or French metre gauge!
  23. I'm sure you are correct, if it can't use the radar it doesn't work and tells you so! TBH I only use ACC on motorways so haven't seen it do that, might give it a try later just to see as I drive in on side roads, though I wouldn't normally use ACC in built up areas, I've used the speed limiter but that's separate and again doesn't change from the original setting, at least on my '67 Golf! (Currently we have a Skoda Octavia with ACC and lane assist). Nope, on the Octavia it stays at the last setting used when restarting, thank goodness. I'm not bothered about lane assist being on, the only annoying thing is it telling you to drive in the centre of the lane when you are already, but that's not a major issue or very often.
  24. Luke, are you intending to replace the bogie sides? They just look a little too large to my eyes. I did a conversion of a Liliput 2095 chassis into one for a Tu2 a while ago, also having to do a fair bit of filing to that chassis. the last job was to file down the bogie side frames and layer on new ones, I've a feeling that would be beneficial in this case, though a fair bit extra work!
