    Luck it was a 33 record and not a 78! ;)
  2. I suspect that if it's faulty it will be a send it back and we'll replace it, just like most of the other manufacturers. Though I also think that current "model railway repairers" will also be able to repair them once they are out of warranty, I can't see the mechanisms being that much different to other scales and stuff like gears can be 3D printed as already proved with Bachmann N scale locos. "Parts" as in detailing bits will come along in due course, rescaled from 00 I'd have thought. It's one of those things that will be done over time but not straight away.
  3. More interested about what the price will be! @Dix120 1 and 3, m8, you aren't the first to comment like that btw! It's not too bad now, though it's interesting that a newcomer saw the vibes so quickly...

Yes, I'd thought of that, and the lawnmower version, but a record tt?!
  5. Well the set has made it to the USA according to one guy on a TT120 FB page who has just received his!

All this talk of turntables but where's the piccie of the cat going round and round on one?!
  7. What's with this "it's not proper football if it's in the EPL/Internationals, etc., etc."?! It is just as much proper football as any of the Sunday leagues are. I was chatting to a chap in my local the other night who wouldn't even accept that your beloved Oldham and Orient is proper football, as far as he was concerned not even my local team, the Harriers were. He would only accept Stourport Swifts and below!! Just because the top teams have lots of money doesn't mean it's not proper football, in fact I've thoroughly enjoyed watching the skill levels shown in the EPL and the World Cup, a level I could never to aspire to in my younger days (I was useless!)!
  8. I think we've arrived at agree to differ time, I still think you are expecting too much and i don't see it as as disjointed as you do! Never mind, at least we are getting RTR British TT which, for me who'd been wanting that for the best part of 40 years, is more important than how fast and how it arrives!
  9. I'd agree, Andy, from what I've seen on FB and elsewhere so far it's been existing modellers from other scales/gauges and armchair modellers who have decided to take the plunge. Having said that I've not seen any of the advertising that Hornby initially said they were going to do to attract these "new" enthusiasts. Perhaps that's been put on hold because of the delays getting the sets from China, hardly much point in doing a big advertising campaign if you haven't got the stock. Most of the "advertising" so far has been via their website, forums, FB and specialist magazines, more word of mouth than a campaign! Having said all that they seem to be selling well even without the "new market"...

Can't remember if I've put this up but we now have a new cat following Snowy's death... Meet Trixie, a five year old tortie and white moggie from a local cat rescue. She's obviously had issues where she last lived, very skittish but slowly getting there with her.
  11. Someone on FB has had an email saying their buildings are due today!
  12. To be fair to Hornby this is the first time that a UK manufacturer has gone into a completely new scale in a long time. They aren't a large company so expecting them to release lots of stuff all at the same time i feel is being unrealistic, though i accept you don't agree with that. I don't think it's the end of the world to have to wait a few months for more stock, March/April seems to be the point at which we'll see coaches and wagons arriving. This discussion is a far cry from the Peco TT thread when all we were looking at was a few pieces of track and the odd wagon and loco!! ;)
  13. "I know it's all about perspective but I'd suggest that we use the Modern Classic Magazine's lead which features cars from the late 80s onward. Cars from the 80s could equally be seen in either this thread or the other one, but stuff from the 90s onward would be more appropriate here. As for the word "classic" it seems it is now in general use to represent any discontinued model of car (and some non-discontinued models (that MINI again!)) rather than some piece of exotica it used to be and I feel that's a good thing!" From the OP, and yes that's what i intended, but not just limited to high performance cars which seem to flood the "old cars" thread but also day to day stuff as well...
  14. RTR? Looking at the 2mmAssoc it all seems kits or conversion bits, that isn't RTR.
  15. I think we have covered this before as well? They have the track in stock but aren't releasing it until the sets are released (whether they've got that right has been discussed to death as well!), as no-one has heard anything despite the release of the Scotsman set I assume the track release will be when easterner goes out and that's due towards the end of this month/beginning of next depending on what Simon said to us at Warley. Other stock such as the 08 are due March/April. So perhaps not a 12/18 month wait... I suppose in an ideal world they'd have gone for a massive release of everything in one go but for a small company like Hornby I'd doubt that would be feasible...
  16. Yes, it was covered somewhere in the thread, they are 4mm models masquerading as TT. No choice at the time as there wasn't any production models they could use! Several others have said the same thing, one even got nice quiet running using an old H&M Safety Minor!
  17. There's been quite a few for sale recently!
  18. I don't know, but when I searched it it sent me to a Hornby Forum thread in 2020 which said the cheaper ones were, hence my comment. It's academic for me as I'll be using my GM controllers which I know will give good control! https://uk.Hornby.com/community/forum/do-Hornby-controllers-make-locos-buzz?p=1
  19. Yes, it would seem that may well be the case and it's a known "issue" (for some people, but not all). I tried PWM controllers when i was messing around with Z mechanisms but never found them very good, the good old GM W worked very well with the Z stuff on the other hand, with a suitably reduced AC input. I'll just get my W out when Easterner arrives, then, and sell on the Hornby controller!
  20. Reading several reviews on FB and it seems that they are very noisy when using the Hornby controller. A couple of people have then tried their GM controllers (even an old H&M one) and it's a different beast altogether, so if you've got one and it's noisy try a different controller first before complaining! Not good for new starters who don't have one, though.

Currently more likely to try something new that no other cats have done before, whether it will succeed or not is another matter! Can see Hornby the cat eying up the "big leap"!! ;)
  22. I think the track on the video is Peco H0m, if it is it confirms that whilst it may be OK for TT3 it isn't for TT. On that basis the few yards I have will be fiddle yard fodder as whilst i can accept the rail (it's code 75 if I remember rightly) the sleeper spacing looks wrong. Hornby are using virtually the same as Tillig so whilst the rail may be a little heavy for older eras they won't be too far away for modern mainline. Though again I'll be using the Hornby in the fiddle yard except for the curves at either end of the layout.
  23. To be fair to him though his record is as good as and a lot better than many before him. So who could do any better, and is a free agent to move to the job, or even want it?! Half the problem with the job is the pressure, often unnecessary, from the press and fans, I know I certainly wouldn't want to do it!
  24. Then FB is the place, there's already 3 or 4 people who said they'd had the notification of the delivery date and would be posting photos and videos, they are in the TT Groups so enthusiasts, not influencers! That was the one with a loco depot on top of the fiddle yard with a steep incline up to it?
