  1. Hopefully there's someone out there who knows how the sets are formed right now and can clarify that, however using Pauls info from May '19 above, 43093 is paired with a different PC now to the one in the Hornby pack. Happy to be proved wrong though, as it would save a lot of hassle! :-)
  2. Hi all, Just been doing some research on the GWR Mark 3's for a Ian H and with help from Paul Isles and using his data above (thanks very much Paul!) I've collated the following information regarding the GWR HST sets in an attempt to answer most of the questions about them in one single post. Thanks also to who gary_lner who deduced GW04 above which helped me along! Haven't had time to do a full infographic as things are pretty hectic here right now (we've had a 103% increase in order totals in three weeks!). Edit on 08/04/2020: This post was edited to reflect information provided below, thank-you to everyone that has contributed to the thread on this! I've now updated the set's below using this information to reflect how the sets are currently running, and completely changed the section on power car allocations! What you need to order to make up the GWR coach sets From the coaches Hornby are producing you can make two coach sets up, GW04 and three quarters of GW03 (details on why it's only 'most' of GW03 can be found below, but to cut a long story short, the sets have now been changed since the model numbers were finalised). To make set GW04 you need to order as follows: 48112 Coach D R4915A 48111 Coach C (TSD) R4895A 48110 Coach B R4915B 49104 Coach A R4896A To make set GW03 you need to order as follows: 48131 Coach D R4915C (As a result of a set change since the models were finalised, as described by Simon Bendall in detail below, this is not the current running number of GW03, but instead as it was formed between May 2019 and August 2019) 48108 Coach C (TSD) R4895 48107 Coach B R4915 49103 Coach A R4896 Matching them to your Hornby HST Power Cars Regarding matching them up to your existing Hornby HST power cars, that's easy! As pointed out below, PC's are changed around between the sets all of the time so theoretically you can run any GWR liveried power car with any of the castle sets. Hornby have produced three sets of power cars, they are as follows and are still in-stock at some model shops (not us, before you ask!): R3510 containing 43188 & 43187 R3685 containing 43041 & 43005 R3696 containing 43016 & 43093 'Old Oak Common' Hope that helps, if anyone has any corrections please shout – but that's as I understand it. :-)
  3. A further manufacturer update: it sounds like Hornby are winding down for a pause in their despatch operations. I've been told that no new picking lists are being raised, they're just working through the backlog before they take a break.
  4. Dapol now announce full closure for both trade and retail.
  5. We'd also like to make a further statement regarding our supply of Peco products Following the decision by Peco to close for a 'minimum of three weeks', we are more than aware that our stock of Peco, Ratio, Wills & Tracksetta will begin to dwindle over the next couple of weeks, if not sooner. We are more than appreciative of all the new business we have received in this recent surge of orders, and we'd like to take this opportunity to thank-you for your custom. However, it is at this strange and difficult time that we must address this and make it clear that we will be prioritising the supply of Peco, Ratio, Wills and Tracksetta to our existing customers. We feel this is only fair, with our existing and regular customers having supported us no-matter-what throughout the 9 or so years we've been running this business, to give back to them when times are tough. We will still be taking and processing orders from new customers, however, if low stock items are ordered in multiple, we may have to reduce quantities and sometimes even take items off of orders completely to avoid stockpiling and ensure that we have enough supply to go around. I'd like to further stress that this applies to Peco, Ratio, Wills and Tracksetter items ONLY - orders for other manufacturers are currently unaffected and will be processed without hindrance. We thank-you for your co-operation at this time.
  6. Hello everyone, Just to update you all on the situation here at Derails, I'm sure you've all seen the statement issued by the Prime Minister regarding the new steps that are to be taken here in the UK. Following this statement we have had to make a couple of changes, in accordance with the guidelines: Our physical store will remain closed, this has been cemented by the governments enforced closure on non-essential shops (I mean, I think railway modelling is essential but...I think I'm on my own there..!?!). Our newly opened ice-cream-van was a fantastic success but the ban on non-essential travel has swung a cruel axe into it's neck, so we will now have to suspend that service for the time being. Any customers with deliveries due will now be contacted with a view of their order being shipped to them for free. We will not be offering collection from the store in any way, shape or form as we do not see this being any safer than simply opening the door. Online store and mail-order will remain open as usual for the foreseeable future, with usual hours and usual response times. The free delivery on all orders is still open, but again we ask that you do not abuse the service (which has occurred – please use it wisely to ensure its longevity). Derails continuing to operate in this method poses little if not any risk to our customers and us. Our Royal Mail and DPD parcels are collected from us in bulk, so trips to the local post office are not required – we understand this has been a concern for some of you. Obviously we will keep you updated if the situation changes again, but rest assured we're doing our best to make sure we can keep serving you to the best of our abilities. Last but by no means least, we'd like to say a big thank-you to those of you who replied to our last message and sent us your support, kind words and best wishes. It really does help during this difficult time and cements why we enjoy the job that we do – the railway modelling community as a whole is just so friendly and supportive! On that note, we'd like to offer our best wishes to our all of our friends and customers (are they often not the same thing?) and please ask that you stay safe! See or speak to you all soon! Stay safe everyone. Kind Regards, Little Dan, Big Dan, Julie, Luke & Edward The entire team @ Derails Models
  7. Thank-you to Nile for posting our update above, I'll be putting it on our own thread very shortly. Although this is primarily a model shop thread, I thought (and I hope it's alright Andy, if not please remove it) that I'd drop in a couple of manufacturers statuses: Dapol - Showroom closed but trade side open and despatching Peco - Closed for minimum of three weeks, this includes the trade and retail side including the factory and despatch. Hornby - warehouse still open and despatching as usual. Office staff working from home.
  8. Dear all, I am writing this note to you in less of the usual corporate tone and as more of a fellow railway modeller and enthusiast. Coronavirus (or COVID-19) is now well and truly "out of the bag". Although it was initially thought that the UK and the railway modelling community would bypass the situation, it is now clear this is not the case. It is especially problematic in our industry given that the primary enthusiast is naturally at a higher-risk. It is for this reason that some changes will now have to be made here at Derails to shield our customers in the best way that we can - but we're trying to do it differently, and although it may cost us some cash we would like to cement that we're primarily railway enthusiasts and not 'all about the money'. The changes we've made today are aimed to give back to our community, one that has helped us to build and maintain the business we love to operate. We've even considered offering toilet roll mail-order, but it's harder to get hold of than a Hornby Stephensons Rocket Train Pack... I have separated this note into two parts based upon how you order, if you are a regular store visitor please read the first section below, if you're an online customer, please scroll a little further down. What if I am a regular store customer? We'll hand-deliver to you, with the newly opened Derails 'Ice Cream Van' No, we haven't literally bought an Ice Cream Van... However, unfortunately we will now have to close the Derails physical store in Coleford with immediate effect. Despite our best efforts to stay open for as long as possible, it is not comfortable for you or us to open the door in these circumstances. However, for those of you living within the Forest of Dean and surrounding areas and still requiring items to 'keep you entertained', we had considered a collection point near the store, but for high-risk customers this was just as unsafe as opening the store. Therefore we will bring the store to you with the opening of our free home-delivery service: if you're after a specific item, we'll bring it to your door. I must stress, to ensure your safety, this will involve a multiple sanitation and protection process on each order which will follow the guidelines issued for food deliveries during the COVID-19 outbreak, as we believe that if it's thorough enough for food, it's thorough enough for Peco Flexitrack (and possibly safer than having it delivered via a delivery service). This service will be free-of-charge and to take advantage of it, please contact us before placing your order. What if I order online and via the telephone? If you're hand delivering for free, surely paying for postage is unfair...? It sure is! But I'll come back to that. Our online store and telesales lines will remain open as normal for the foreseeable future; orders will be taken, processed and shipped as per normal. We will also be introducing a multiple sanitation process on each order to ensure your safety. As well as this, as of this morning, all orders at Derails will be post-free. There is no order total limit to this offer, but to ensure the longevity of this, we do ask that you not abuse the system or 'take the mickey': ie, order two packs of rail joiners and a six-way gauge... [Important note: when ordering, you'll notice a lot of items will still advise the estimated price for postage in their descriptions. Please ignore this, when you checkout you will notice that the only postage option is free when you come to select it! IT will endeavour to fix this error ASAP.] We also understand some of our customers are preferring not to receive parcels for the foreseeable future, to avoid the potential of the virus spreading on packages. However we also understand that the model railway industry often operates on a "arrive once, sell out quickly" business model. Due to the current unconventional circumstances, we are more than happy to reserve items and hold onto them until it is convenient for our customers to receive them, even if this should be a few months. There is no fee for this, but we do have to request that the items are paid for in full as unfortunately our bills will continue to roll in. If you would like to take advantage of this service, please do contact us. I do hope, as we all do, that this situation will pass quicker than some are speculating and we hope that although just a hobby, that the procedures and services we've introduced this morninng do help you try to keep safe whilst enjoying the hobby you love - even in times of uncertainty. The situation was summed up perfectly to me today by one our our longest standing customers: "It is just a hobby, but if you think I'm going to spend 4 months in isolation without a way of avoiding the wife, you're sorely mistaken!" And with that, he left the shop, carrying enough Will's kits to sink a battleship... Stay safe everyone. Kind Regards, Little Dan, Big Dan, Julie, Luke & Edward The entire team @ Derails Models
  9. I've seen this suggested multiple times now, it's a great idea. Lando and Max are regulars on IRacing, in fact they won the IRacing 24 hours of Spa IIRC together.
  10. It certainly is official , the statement issued a few minutes ago by F1 themselves reads: "Following the confirmation that a member of the McLaren Racing Team has tested positive for COVID-19 and the team’s decision to withdraw from the Australian Grand Prix, Formula 1 and the FIA convened a meeting of the other nine team principals on Thursday evening. Those discussions concluded with a majority view of the teams that the race should not go ahead "Formula 1 and the FIA, with the full support of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) have therefore taken the decision that all Formula 1 activity for the Australian Grand Prix are cancelled. "We appreciate this is very disappointing news for the thousands of fans due to attend the race and all ticket holders will receive a full refund and a further announcement will be communicated in due course. "All parties took into consideration the huge efforts of the AGPC, Motorsport Australia, staff and volunteers to stage the opening round of the 2020 FIA Formula One World Championship in Melbourne, however concluded that the safety of all members of the Formula 1 family and the wider community, as well as the fairness of the competition take priority."
  11. This is pure chaos! Using Twitter, I've been following Chris Medland and various other verified and respected F1 journos who are on the ground. Current reports indicate that teams voted 5-5 each way as whether they are to race. It's also been reported Aussie politicians and the promoters are saying that it'll go ahead with no fans, the teams are heading to the track and the mechanics that have been asked to comment have not been told either way so are preparing the cars. The Aussie support series (TCR cars and SF5000 racing series to name two) are all publicising that they're racing. To top it all of, there are credible reports that Kimi and Seb have flown back to Europe overnight! The thing that's missing? An official statement either way from either F1, the FIA or even the Australian Government... USA 2005 2.0 anyone? (Just wanna say, obviously none of this information is verified, it's more to show the absolute chaos that's unfolding. It does come from reputable sources otherwise I wouldn't be sharing it, but of course even the most reputable of sources can't be totally trusted in chaotic moments)
  12. Just received word from Peco that the Green & Cream preservation era coaches are now out and available! We've placed our order and will be getting ours next week, we've had healthy pre-orders on these. RRP is £27.50, and of course most shops (including us) will be offering a discount on that price - so head down to your local shop and get placing your orders! FR Maroon ones not due long after apparently. :-)
  13. I read that as "if a team is prevented from entering the race as they have been denied entry to the country" they will not run the race, as that statement was issued at the time it was thought that the Italian squads would be banned from entering Australia by the Govt. This is McLaren themselves deciding not to enter so whether that statement will be factored into the decision, I don't know.
  14. Just noticed on Set HA25, the TGFB should read R4907A! Also on HA26, the coach number of R4937 should actually be 42561! Sorry for the errors, only my second stab at these consists guide things.....
  15. Thank-you very much to both Trains4U and AGR for the heads up, we really appreciate it. We have provided pictures of them to the staff in the store and briefed everyone here in the event they're spotted here. Hopefully they're tracked down soon!
  16. Expected to be arriving in March is R3711 in the early Blue and R3713 in the Late BR Maroon, as well as their DCC fitted counterparts! If you'd like one, head down to your "LMS" now and pop in a pre-order!
  17. Indeed! No 'on-demand' price fluctuation carried out here! You actually got a number 7 due to two people ordering the last one at exactly the same time! But as we hold a few spares of new-tooling items for the unlikely event that any arrive damaged (especially with highly popular items like these), I have taken one of these and put it in the main allocation for you. But don't worry, we still have enough spares, so if there are any damages, we shouldn't have to disappoint anyone. :-)
  18. And my word did they sell quickly! All gone now folks, sorry!
  19. Do not need another large logo 37... Do not need another large logo 37... Do not need another large logo 37... Do not need another large logo 37... Do not need another large logo 37... Do not need another large logo 37... I've just ordered another large logo 37... Jokes aside, a great addition. :-) We're expecting orders for these to be very popular!
  20. It's been a good day here at Hinckley speaking to all from Bachmann. I'm glad to say that myself and Luke have spent a couple of hours heads down in the corner of the room on our laptops so it's now all available to pre-order! Looking forward to the next announcement showcase in May! :-)
  21. Yes, ours are being delivered Monday! I'll get some pictures up as soon as they arrive!
  22. Oh no! It's doing the same as the first one? That is rather irritating, I thought that it was an isolated case. Drop me an email if you don't get any luck Anthony and we'll work out another solution for you.
  23. Well, expect the unexpected certainly did ring true....
