  1. Couple more 2020 arrivals that have dropped onto the doorstop today so should be arriving at your local model shop very soon, if they're not there already for your perusal: R4994 Mark 1 Network Rail ex-BR Mk1 Structure Gauging Train Driving & Instrumentation Vehicle No.975081 R4995 Network Rail ex-BR Mk1 BG Generator Van No.6264 Ciao!
  2. Here, we put bets on it as to on how long it would take for these to be announced after you released the HYA.......I lost :-(
  3. Are we about to see a repeat of 2009!? Brawn buys the Honda Engine Programme and powers RB to the 2022 championships, before selling to Merced.....oh wait..... Jokes aside, I think this is the key - if Honda are willing to sell (depends if there are any "trade secrets" in there), could someone fresh join in with a decent PU, albeit with Honda DNA?
  4. Last one went on Sunday I'm afraid :-( Sorry However I'm sure one of our fellow friendly local retailers has some left
  5. Afternoon all! For those that haven't already seen, three more variants arrived today too, they are: R4966, DRS TSO (the one EVERYONE is waiting for...) R4991 Network Rail Structure Gauging Train Support R4993 Plain Line Pattern Recognition Vehicle :-)
  6. Sorry to resurrect and old thread here, but I wanted to share some info! Following the arrival of the Virgin Mark 2F's last week, we've now received some more variants! The latest releases are as follows: R4892A Scotrail Saltire BSO R4893B Scotrail Saltire TSO R4893C Scotrail Saltire TSO R4967 DRS BSO R4967A DRS BSO R4992 Network Rail Staff Support Coach R4946 Network Rail Test Train Brake Force Runner These will be appearing from Monday in most places, so please check out your Local Model Shop who I'm sure will be eagerly putting them on the shelves! Cheers all!
  7. Don't you start Mr Hall! Plot twist....they're all wrong?!?!
  8. It's really tough, as I'm only just finding out. For example, I've just gone and taken some shots of the loco, brought them onto the PC and toned down the rather "over-excited" lighting we use and then held the model up to the screen....and it's completely different, the photo is far too light. I tried again, same lighting but this time no editing, and again, it is completely different. Changed more parameters and still I could not get a match. I then compared the model to the Hornby shot and those of other retailers and in my personal opinion, none of them really match the exact shade! This is where it gets tough, and I give my apologies but I'm not going to upload the photos I took as I don't want to prejudice anyone with a photograph that doesn't best represent the colour of model which is the main discussion point here at the moment. But then again, unfortunately I'm a 1970's modeller so I can't pass an educated comment on how it looks....unless it's blue.......(in the distance, I hear sirens coming for me....)
  9. I don't have my photo backdrop with me today, but if no-one else has posted one by tomorrow morning, I'll get a photo up here for you Ian :-)
  10. Overnight we've received the invoice for the most popular of Praires - the Late BR Green model! That means they'll be arriving here (and with your local model shop) over the next few days! Enjoy :-)
  11. Wheatley has hit it pretty much on the nail, there is COVID backlog. However to add to this, just as it was getting back to normal their IT systems were hit with some form of malware attack which wiped out the stock and ordering systems. This put them offline for another couple of weeks, and they have only recently re-started deliveries again (and even this isn't quite back to normal, as the malware attack is still ongoing and they are actually using Excel spreadsheets to manually process orders!). All things considered they've been through a fair amount in the past couple of months but stock is flowing through again now, especially of track and other sundry items. HTH
  12. Go Hulkenberg! P3 on his second weekend in the car....
  13. Oh my! Now I'm worried. Does anyone know if any retailers have actually received the models yet, or has anyone even had one direct from Hornby?
  14. BCC and retailers will get a link today for the video premier tomorrow AM, before it goes live on the Bachmann website at 12 noon tomorrow. It's billed to be a bit like a video version of the event back in February, this one was supposed to be in a hotel in Bristol but unfortunately with current events and all that... HTH :-)
  15. Sunglasses and a mask...I'm calling it now, it's the next big trend!
  16. Wow! Would you believe we rasied £680? No, us neither until we checked the figures this morning! Firstly, thanks to everyone that entered our competition for the Hornby Stephensons Rocket! The uptake was fantastic and we're really appreciative of the support we've received. I've just received word from the railway that our £680 pushed the DFRS COVID-19 appeal over the magic £50,000 figure which is a fantastic result! We performed the draw on site this morning at the Dean Forest Railway with the Railway Society Chairman Alastair Clarke pulling the tickets. Here's the video: Just to confirm, the winners are: 25% off any N, OO9, OO or O gauge locomotive voucher: Mr P Ross 25% off any N, OO9, OO or O gauge locomotive voucher: Mr A Lindsay R3810 Hornby Stephenson's Rocket Train Pack: Mr B Lewin We'll be in-touch to get your prizes on their way to you tomorrow! Thanks very much again for all of your support, for us it is fantastic to be able to help a good cause out by using our position in the industry, and we wouldn't have done so well without the support of our valued friends and customers - thank-you!
  17. Hulk spotted at the circuit, with reports surfacing that he's just waiting for a negative COVID test result before he is confirmed to race
  18. https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.perez-self-isolating-after-inconclusive-covid-19-test-ahead-of-the-british.77CAQtCclhlXB4hv1zhKss.html Bad news for Checo, hopefully it's just a glitch in the test. Question is, if he can't race, who takes his seat? RP don't have an official reserve driver, so will they call up one of the Merc pair...?
  19. For those of you who originally missed out, a second batch of the DCC ready GWR Class 158's has been released over the past couple of days! If you're in the market for one, checkout your local model shop who may have just taken delivery...
  20. Earlier this week, we found a few spare Hornby Stephenson's Rocket Train packs here at Derails; we had a few spares in-case of damaged models arriving and a few pre-order cancellations. Eight of these models are going on general sale (click here for details) but we thought we would do something special with the ninth... Like many other heritage railways, the local Dean Forest Railway has been hit quite hard by the COVID-19 virus. Having shutdown their operations in March, they have not run a single passenger train since then and are only re-starting operations on the 1st August, with socially distant queuing and trains divided to comply with the rules. With half of the year's normal running, both steam and diesel gala's and many other special events cancelled, the railway has really taken a HUGE financial hit with many new and existing projects facing lengthy delays and even potential cancellation, as the money is just not there to complete them. Everyone here at Derails is a volunteer and supporter of the railway; Julie & Big Dan help out on dining trains, Saul is a guard, Little Dan is a guard and charity trustee and Edward is a raffle ticket seller - so to us it is vitally important we do all we can to help the railway continue to thrive. So our "something special" is a fundraising competition! 100% of the profit from this competition will be donated to the Dean Forest Railway Society which is the charitable arm of the railway and as well as this, we will take £1 of your ticket price and purchase a DFR Annual Fundraising Draw ticket with your name on too, so you could also win up to £250 directly from the railway! To enter, head to our website by clicking the link and buy your tickets now: Click here to buy your Stephenson Rocket competition tickets! And remember: the more profit we make, the more donations the DFR gets: so please like and share to as many pages and groups as you can! Your entries will help the railway continue to preserve the rich heritage of railways in the Forest of Dean! Competition FAQ's How many times can I enter? As many times as you want! How will the draw take place? Every single ticket will be put into a big barrel, we'll then mix them up thoroughly and pick out the winner! We'll even take a video of the draw and post it to our social media! What if I have already purchased a Rocket from you? Enter anyway! Then if you win, we'll just refund you the money you paid your set, or send you a second one if you'd prefer! What if I want to donate but I don't want to enter? That's fine too! The Dean Forest Railway Society have set up a fundraiser you can donate straight into! Click here to go see it! Full T&C's can be found on the ticket listing page on our website: click here for more info!
  21. Interesting information on the Vettel transfer, I can't see it happening, a few sources saying it's already signed - but then again, they said that when they had a "watertight" source that Vettel was signing for McLaren. The flip side to the Vettel argument is that it is the first year of "Aston Martin Racing" next year. Imagine the PR they could get: "Aston Martin Racing sign quadruple world champion for their inaugural season". Would it make them a more attractive deal for sponsors too?
  22. Quite a few factors in the currently delayed Q1. Safety car occasionally takes a lap and then heads back to the garage. Hopefully the weather lets up at least a little bit soon.
  23. Heck it might even cost me some money too! Couple of bits on there I personally missed out on first time round...
