  1. And the range is now complete! R3707 Longmorn Distillery 'Queen Anne' has now arrived. No picture this time I'm afraid, but it's a cracking little model!
  2. Don't worry, he wasn't too far behind.... Baldwins by Derails Models, on Flickr Not in the photo but included in today's delivery is the Snailbeach District Tramway loco.
  3. The Bachmann Availability dated from the 9th says that it's in-stock, so I would assume you'll see them pre-Christmas
  4. It's an interesting coupling that works well (on our 2nd radius S bends) as well as keeping the look of the prototype. Hopefully this explanation makes sense: The lower coupling (the red circle) uses a pin and loop system (the loop is on the red part of the crane chassis, the pin is on the relieving bogie) that actually couples the vehicles. The top part (in the green circle) is mainly cosmetic and doesn't have a pin or a loop on it, but does limit the vertical travel of the coupling, stopping the vehicles coming apart if they pass over a particularly violent bump in the track - however it doesn't prohibit all vertical movement so they will be fine running on gradients and bumpy track. 5. What an impossibly difficult item to take a photograph of! Very, very nice though! The first two (38-800 SR and 38-802 BR Early) have now arrived into stock at retailers! 38-802 - F by Derails Models, on Flickr 38-802 - D by Derails Models, on Flickr
  6. It's now got further that that too! Our masses (and I mean masses...we're swimming in them!) arrived into stock this morning, so they will be arriving at your local model shop soon! R3706 - Rear by Derails Models, on Flickr
  7. 31-061 by Derails Models, on Flickr Beautiful and quiet little runner, very smooth. Weighs in at 175 grams, so quite weighty for its size.
  8. For anyone else looking, some have now been shipped out to retailers over the past week. Check-in at your local shop as their may be some spare....
  9. New Arrivals! The latest two Baldwins will now be appearing on shelves near you! Baldwin Double (C) by Derails Models, on Flickr
  10. Another rep special arriving into the Wales and West Midlands is 32-390DB, EWS Livery Class 37, 37704 32-390DB by Derails Models, on Flickr
  11. Thank-you all for your help! I appreciate the help!
  12. Hi Richard - that's handy to know, thank-you! I haven't bought the chip yet, SWD was recommended to me by a customer, so it's good to get some other recommendation too. Does the sound operate on DC too?
  13. Hi guys, A quick one from me. Looking into fitting my own Bachmann 25 with a SWD Loksound V4 chip, got a couple of questions - the loco is used on other DC layouts as well as a DCC one, will this chip operate on DC? Does the sound operate on DC too? I actually don't want it too (it'll be out of place and sound quite strange), but if it does is there a way of switching it off? The second, slightly less important question surrounds the brake function - I have the new Bachmann 03 which has an active braking function on F2 which I quite like, it really adds to the shunting experience if you can actually use the throttle and brake as you would in a real loco. I understand the SWD chips have the same thing, is this correct? Please excuse my DCC sound inexperience, you'd think I know a little more about it by now, with my career choice...! Cheers, Lil' Dan
  14. When did we start using lorries to move trains around the country?

I think you could.  Class 08's were moved as they moved so slowly on rail.  Also stripped large diesels that had been withdrawn became considerably lighter, rose on their springs, and became out of gauge.

Thanks for that! That's handy to know. He was specifically thinking about a diorama surrounding a fire damaged coach :) I'll let him know a fire damaged diesel might work better

      Captain Kernow

There were other, more specific circumstances earlier than that, such as when locos and rolling stock were moved from Anglesey, following the fire on the Britannia (Menai) Bridge in 1970.

  15. I can agree! Now I've got them in my hands too, they look equally as good...! Birdcage SR Malachite - Full by Derails Models, on Flickr

  17. Indeed! RRP of £159.99, here are some more images to accompany the ones posted by adb968008. To quote Accurascale themselves: "Accurascale's Warley announcement is the impressive KUA, 150-ton, four bogie nuclear flask wagon as part of its growing exciting range of OO gauge rolling stock. These impressive wagons were built by Bombardier/Prorail of Wakefield in 1998 and designed to carry spent nuclear fuel from Royal Navy nuclear submarines from their bases at Devonport and Rosyth to Sellafield for disposal. As well as these bases, the two KUA wagons have travelled extensively across the UK network, reaching Gerogemas Junction at the top of Scotland, to Washwood Heath and Wembley Yard as well as Eastleigh. Accurascale sees the KUA as a suitably impressive wagon to compliment their forthcoming DRS Class 37/6 range. The production run of the wagons will be a small production run due to the limited nature of the prototypes, which were previously considered to be unlikely to appear in ready to run format. When loaded the KUAs are always accompanied by DRS courier coaches carrying elite protection teams – often Royal Marines or similarly trained Army units - and frequently double headed to allow for the failure of a locomotive. The Royal Navy still has numerous retired but fully fuelled nuclear submarines in southern England and Scotland and these wagons are expected to see ongoing use for years to come. Availabile to order both through our selected stockists and online via the Accurascale website. Delivery is due in Q2 (April -June) 2020. Specification: Highly detailed, accurate scale model Factory-fitted detail parts (brake pipes, lamp irons, etc.) Factory-fitted etched metal details where required Factory-fitted pipework Sprung metal buffers Fully detailed under-frame Blackened metal 12mm disc wheels on metal axles, RP25.88 profile sets with 14.4mm back to backs and 26mm over pinpoints NEM coupler pockets fitted on 'kinematic' mounts with narrow tension lock couplers provided Multiple die-cast chassis parts for ideal weight over axles Designed for easy conversion to EM and P4 gauges Length of Wagon, buffer to buffer of 325mm (650mm for the pair of wagons)"
  18. Snap! These are going to be cracking and pre-orders are already looking healthy - we've only had them online for 40 minutes!
  19. They sure are! Our's just dropped through the door I believe...
  20. And already available to pre-order too
  21. When our stock arrives, we certainly will be. It's just taking a little time to get to us at the moment....
  22. We've had no issues reported to us, so all seems well. To confirm this, I plan on taking one up to the Forest of Dean MRC's test track on Monday evening (one of their members is interested and would like to know the answer and see it in person). I'll pop it on and see how it copes with the gradients they have recently fitted. All being well I'll get some video to go along with it, and I'll upload it here.
  23. Last post from me to avoid drifting it too much - yes they have, so much so I believe this is the first for at least a year or so. Bachmann have done two this year for example. Our issue before was that they did almost one a month and usually did it with items that were very recently released, these once a year ones are good and help us a little as we can also use them to help shift any surplus stock we've got ourselves too. As long as they keep it at this scale, personally we find it quite handy. HTH
  24. This is part of a new promo from Hornby, so a lot of retailers will shortly have these items on a sale...some might even be cheaper ;)
  25. It's here! Long awaited, the Peco turntable motor has now been released to the public and will be arriving on the shop shelves very soon! Here's all of the info and some pictures. Plenty of shops are already taking advance orders for this item. :) From Peco themselves: "At last, we are very happy to be able to offer a complementary motor for our popular turntable kits. Although these were never designed to be motorised it was clear for a long time that modellers have been looking for ways to be able to avoid the use of their hands to turn the deck on their layouts! Now we can offer our very smooth, silent motor, an easy-to-use and simple arrangement that will be perfect for most situations. This new motor is suitable for all PECO turntables, so that includes the N, OO/HO, O-16.5 (On30), SM-32 and the HOm scale versions. This non-indexing motor (which means that there are no pre-set or programmable settings) means that the modeller can simply line up the deck against the exit or entrance road by eye, and the controls allow for small adjustments should things not align perfectly. This gives the modeller ultimate flexibility and control, and means that existing turntables on layouts can easily accommodate the new motor without any major track re-laying exercise! Power has to be provided from an independent 12vDC 2 amp supply, but other than that everything needed is included. Operating the motor is straightforward: you press and hold either of the clockwise or anti-clockwise buttons to rotate the deck and release the button when you wish to stop. Operation is extremely smooth. Retro-fitting the motor to an existing turntable in-situ is easy. The kit is supplied with three mounting fixtures that, when assembled, are glued to the underside of the turntable deck. There is also a special joining collar that links the motor to the central shaft of the turntable deck. Although this is a tight interference fit it is best that this is also glued into place. Full instructions are included in the kit."
