  1. 10/10 review Gary the LBSCR Oracle, helped me to make up my mind changing my SR pre order from a full brake to one with seating for department use on my layout, It's clearly far more accurate, and even I should be able to manage a grab handle change :p contemplating a repaint to department grey to match the breakdown crane, or just a heavy weathering job hmmmm
  2. That is a very BR heavy announcement, ah well
  3. See, for me, aside from the Rails D Class there's nothing I'm really waiting for now, unless Bachmann throws me something exciting like a LBSCR D1 but I won't hold my breath :p
  4. I really don't know what to expect from Bachmann, there's so many players in the game now, and still so many prototypes to do!
  5. That is a LOT of bananas. Starts frying my brain when I start thinking about how many banana plants (trees?) That required and the land space for them and the amount of workers require to pick them.
  6. Honestly, that's the extent of my knowledge :p
  7. For me it feels like almost every company has some sort of Pannier / GWR xx loco on the go at the moment Definitely time for some more Brighton locos I think!
  8. I too am super eager for this one! I keep checking back here for news now that the 16xx is arriving, hopefully soon!
  9. Yep I've always had trouble with Dapol wagons staying on the track , I always end up replacing the wheels. Shunting with them is impossible, if I try pushing them I end up with a Thomas the tank Engine style crash scene, I don't know if it's just the flanges Dapol are using on their wagon wheels or what but they are dreadful. It's a shame because Dapol wagons are very reasonably priced and they do lots of ltd edition wagons for various companies and there's always lots I'd like to purchase but they're unusable until I change the wheels. Edit: hooks have a tendency to easily fall off Dapol wagons too
  10. Haha what I love about it is Southern (by which I mean various southern based pre group railways ) are pretty renoun for using sets but that seems to be put together with what ever they had lying around in the sidings
  11. Hmmm bananas weren't really obtainable in wartime but I'll still be interested to have one in my goods yard, it's only loosely based on the war years anyway
  12. I don't think I have ever owned a model railway catalogue... Anyway, would be great to see more SECR or LBSCR prototypes =)
  13. I found if I pushed all the pickups back against the wheels they would slowly migrate away from the wheels over time , so the loco would run great to begin with that get increasingly worse as it went round the layout
  14. Interesting, well it's made them more suitable for their range of kitchen firsts then? Or are the KFs still too 'modern' in their unlined livery?
  15. Stumbled on this photo this evening! Thought it might be of interest, a good mix in that train
  16. My local area is run almost entirely on 377s and 313s (for that reason they're the only 'modern' 3 digit things I'm familiar with) :p
  17. I like to refer to them as Hornby Stroudley Generics :p
  18. I mean, Giraffes are a minefield of 'liveries' and 'toolings' as it is, 4 different main species and sub species within those species :p
  19. As illogical as releasing a coach pack with a Terrier in GWR livery or a Maunsell dining saloon that is several years too early for any of the Hornby restaurant firsts to run with it... Hornby love retooling things lately so perhaps actual Stroudleys are still on the cards
  20. Remember Hatton's originally didn't announe any in LBSCR livery , they changed their mind after a lot of demand, some of us (me) at the time suggested perhaps another company was working on actual LBSCR prototypes (Tbh I suspected Rails of Sheffield), perhaps they knew Hornby were working on Stroudleys, perhaps it's all just coincidence, but for better or worse it just is what it is now
  21. I finally got around to ordering one today =)
  22. Found this photo while searching for something else, thought it would be of interest =]
  23. It's actually so frustrating how close to a prototype these are. Damn it Hornby! So near yet so far
