  1. Hi Dave, Wonderful photos as always. I like the tyres and pipes of the “Rec” and remember playing in similar “Recs” in the early ‘70s. How we made it into our teens alive is a complete mystery... Cheers Darius
  2. Still available on eBay:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WWII-Airforce-Hangar-1-48-scale-Model-Kit-LASERCUT-SET-Dimensions-75-x-56-cm/272695603029?hash=item3f7decaf55:g:m0MAAOSwsXFZLwqa The Avro Anson is from a Sanger vacform kit. Cheers Darius
  3. It’s possibly got the speaker and maybe the decoder in it... Probably seemed like a good idea at the time, although it would have been better to use a GW box van. Cheers Darius
  4. 1:48 scale aircraft hangar - cardboard kit. Cheers Darius
  5. 1:48 white metal kits and conversions. The pontoons were scratch built from plasticard. Cheers Darius
  6. They pivot as well. No, really. Cheers Darius
  7. Just noticed that a bit of the “protective packaging” had stuck itself to the cab fromt. Removed it and it’s adhesive with a tissue and some white spirits. Cheers Darius
  8. Sone photos with an Oxford Rail Mk3 for comparison. Had to find and glue in place the door steps to the coach before I could take these photos... Cheers Darius
  9. As promised, photos of the Zimo MX645R sound decoder installation in “King Arthur”. Cheers Darius
  10. Managed to fit a Zimo MX645R sound decoder with a sugar cube speaker and a small stay alive capacitor to “Robert Burns”. The decoder slot provided by Hornby is too small and the speaker enclosure is also too small for the cube. Poor marks to Hornby for that. I was able to place the decoder atop the “empty” part of the pcb and fit the body back OK if the plastic shroud to the decoder is removed. The sugar cube speaker fits to the underside of the body between the spring contacts and the plastic rear wall of the cab vestibule. The stay alive hangs over the edge of the pcb at the other cab end. Errant cables were kept out of mischief with dabs of black tac. I will take photos of what I did when I fit a decoder to “King Arthur”. Cheers Darius
  11. I suspect that one of the parts shown in the photos doesn’t belong to a Class 456... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/00-Gauge-MTK-Class-456-Kit-/253842696667 Cheers Darius
  12. I have heard back from Tom Mackie and the third loco will he delivered soon Cheers Darius
  13. Email received from Dave this morning confirming that my first deposit and order are in the new system Cheers Darius
  14. Same here, no refund and no communication from DJModels. I assume this means that my original order and payment stands and there is no need to re-order. It would be reassuring to have this confirmed by DJ Models. Darius
  15. Just received an email from Rails of Sheffield that they are due in their shop tomorrow. Cheers Darius
  16. I have now received the second of the three Stirling Singles that I ordered, which leaves a third and final one to be delivered. When I spoke to Locomotion a few weeks ago they confirmed that had I ordered theee locos and this is borne out by the receipts that were posted to me separately to the despatch of the locos. However I was contacted by someone at NRM York last week and they were of the opinion that I had only ordered two locos not three and that the second loco would be delivered soon, which it has been. This leaves the third as yet to be delivered loco. I have emailed NRM as per the recent posting on this thread with attached scans of the receipts that Locomotion sent to me to see what is going to happen regarding the third loco. Fingers crossed this will be resolved soon. Darius
  17. Hi Mike, On the lower “non-scenic” storage level everything will be surface mounted including the wires. There will be timber “bridges” (like the track feed bridges in the photos) to take the wires up and over the tracks to the control panel. There will be a surface mounted “bus bar” for the common return to the motors. There are storage boxes under the lower baseboards and the chances of one of them snagging a wire or two (and then having to get underneath to fix things) was not worth putting the wires under the boards. Some areas may use the Mercontrol tube and wire system. The upper scenic level will probably have the motors and wiring under the boards. Cheers Darius
  18. Point motors fixed to the fiddle yard approach tracks. We opted for surface mounted motors and cables for ease of installation and troubleshooting. They will be operated by a dedicated 16v AC supply via a CDU. A separate power supply and CDU will operate the points to the fiddle yard exit at the other end of the shed. Cheers Darius
  19. Top of the helix reached this morning. The outside track spurs off to the right hand side of the shed whilst the onside tack continues round to tie in with the right hand side of the shed. This also works electrically as the fiddle yard and return line would have been a reverse loop if both tracks had tied in to the left of the shed. Cheers Darius
  20. I had a call from Locomotion yesterday that I should expect a delivery today. Apparently APC had logged the delivery of one of the models that I ordered as being all of them delivered. Fingers crossed. Darius
  21. Doesn’t say what the weatherer’s profession actually is though... Just sayin Darius
  22. I am glad you got through straight away and got the issue resolved. Each time I have called I have got through to the automated reply and had to leave a recorded message. Emails get an automated reply that contact will me made within 5 days. This has been the experience of several others and it is somewhat dispiriting especially when no reply is forthcoming. I don’t want anyone to be hung or flogged for this, I just want the courtesy of a reply. If this is so bad that it is going to take months to resolve then I would like to know. Darius PS - At least on this thread you get a reply from someone. You may not like it but you do get a reply.
  23. I am afraid that their reputation is getting a sound kicking at the moment. A new update from Locomotion on this thread would not be amiss and might assuage the frustrations of those of us who have yet to receive what we paid for and who are not being contacted by Locomotion. Being repeatedly told “everything will turn out all right in the end” by people who have received their models (and possibly someone else’s instead) is not helpful. Agreed this situation is not on the same scale as being killed in a bridge collapse or drowned in monsoon floods but then most issues like this are - pointing this out is also not helpful. Darius
