  1. I noticed this after I had scanned the image. Pity I didn’t realise this back in 1985 as I could have zoomed in on it. Although all I had zoom wise at the time was a 135mm lens so it might not have been that much bigger. Cheers Darius
  2. Well, I suppose that adds some variety rather than just playing the same sounds. If it includes farm animal noises, my neice had a book that played those when she was very young... Darius
  3. Or perhaps it’s the 2017 version with a coat of grey primer. Darius
  4. They’ve got them on the buffer beams as well. I note the gearing noise issue - that may have happened when it was dropped on the floor, causing the buffer head to pop off, the windows to fall out and the nose to come off at one end. Not to worry though, the nose has been stuck back on again in almost the right place and some yellow paint has been splashed onto bits of the chassis. What’s not to like? Darius
  5. Even allowing for the out of focus photos you can see that these are the original tooled Hornby versions and not the later tooling. I wonder how you get the “wash fade” effect - the hot cycle in the washing machine? I see that bidding has started already - there is always someone out there who can be taken in by this sort of rubbish. Darius
  6. Hi. They are based on Hornby’s Maunsell coaches - a 6 compartment brake and a corridor 3rd. Cheers Darius
  7. Inspired by this photo taken at Bristol Temple Meads in 1985... ...I made a start with these:- Cheers Darius
  8. Well, I have no idea what that means???
  9. Wow - I obtained an MTK twin railcar kit from eBay a couple of years ago for much, much, much, much less than that. It was the etched brass version (much easier/better than the white metal version of this auction) and I supplemented it with some spare Hornby railcar chassis and bogies. One day it will get built. Watching this to see if anyone bites. Cheers Darius
  10. A few scanned photos taken at Gatwick, Brigton and Reading in the mid 1980s. OK - the last photo doesnt have an EMU in the frame, but there is a third rail... Cheers Darius
  11. Found a few more photos of Bristol TM from around 1985-86. Cheers Darius
  12. Hi Dave. I like today’s photos of the Class 302s on the LTS. Reminds me of my travels up and down this line around 1987-88 when I was working on a bridge project on Foulness Island and used to catch the train into London to meet up with friends on a Friday night. I had digs near Southend East station. Cheers Darius
  13. I predict that this will not be a good seller... Cheers Darius
  14. Taken at a wet and windy West Worthing this afternoon. Terminating train from Brighton. Cheers Darius
  15. Nice idea but it’s still a tad too large for OO gauge, which is why it looks “clunky” as a platform display and fills too much of the window in the train. No cigar just yet. Darius
  16. Four more tanks to paint plus decals and tie/downs to add...and buffers. Cheers Darius
  17. New mini project using Roco flatcars and Roco Minitanks M-47 Patton tank kits. Road wheels and tracks painted:- Four more tanks to paint plus decals and tie/downs to add. Cheers Darius
  18. Agreed, the modelling on that last layout was sheer brilliance - one of my favourites of the show. And there was plenty of activity on the tracks as well Plus, having grown up in Newcastle-under-Lyme in the 1970s, I had to visit this layout Cheers Darius
  19. And a few more:- All taken on the Sunday - nice day trip from Worthing. Cheers Darius
  20. Trying to cash in on the eBay “Thomas” stuff sells like hot cakes trend perchance? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Marklin-OO-HO-Thomas-Custom-Hugo-the-Rail-Zeppelin-Scheinenzeppelin-NO-MOTOR-/183544179029 No motor is one thing - it would most likely have been a Marklin 3-rail AC type anyway - but non rotating bogies is a bit limiting. Perfect for that simple plank layout. Cheers Darius PS and with these we can all have a go... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-Bachmann-THOMAS-AND-FRIENDS-CUSTOM-TROUBLESOME-TRUCK-FACES-X-4-CLASSIC-/123465320495
  21. I suppose that sooner or later everything ends up being painted yellow... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LIMA-00-GAUGE-CLASS-50-045-DIESEL-NETWORK-RAIL-LIVERY-GOOD-UNBOXED-ORDER-/273570778926 Cheers Darius
  22. You should see what the night crew charge. Cheers Darius
