  1. £135.95 at Rails of Sheffield saves you just over £44 on this chap’s price. Maybe that’s where he is getting them... Darius
  2. Some scans of photos that I took in the sidings near Sydenham, Belfast in 1985, I think. I had a summer job at a Consulting Engineer's office in Elmwood Avenue and was staying at home in Ben Madigan at the time. One Saturday I walked over to Sydenham from City Hall and managed to get these photos. The last photo is of a cut and shunt job I did at university around the same time using Lima Mk2 coaches and some plasticard - I still have this somewhere... Cheers Darius
  3. Having paid a lot of money some time ago for two "silent" Stirling singles not yet received and, after contacting Locomotion two weeks ago only to have the standard reply and then an "I'm sorry but its out of our hands" reply, I think that telling someone to be patient is somewhat patronising at best, especially when that person sees lots of images of people fondling their newly arrived models. I like Locomotion and the models that they produce and I am sure that they do not want to be in the situation that they are in, however, when things go wrong is when the measure of a company is made and alas in the UK the track record of companies shining in this respect is total rubbish. I have contacted Locomotion yet again to see if they have any idea of when they intend to fulfil the order. I shall await their reply with patience. Darius
  4. Hi Dave, Wonderful photos of Llandudno. They bring back great memories of a day out with my Dad and Sister in the mid 1970s. A special train was laid for the day from Stoke to Llandudno and back, hauled by a Class 25 as I recall. We took the tram to Great Orme’s Head and came back via the “Happy Valley” cable car. Happy days. Cheers Darius
  5. Its deja vu time all over again... Darius
  6. Had a quick look around. Very cumbersome design and awkward to find what you want. 5/10. Darius
  7. Another revolution added to the helix this morning Also tested a point motor installation using an old 16V AC power supply (H&M Clipper) a CDU and a GM point motor - once I realised that the green wire was the common return (not the black one) it worked fine. Cheers Darius
  8. I have had no response to emails to Shawplan so I guess I will wait for Warley to purchase the bits from the stand. Interesting trend on these "small trader won't communicate" threads - there is rarely a response from the trader themselves, instead a "spokesperson" always seems to come to their defence time and again. Cheers Darius
  9. Apart from the poor souls that ask if we are near Eastbourne yet, as the train is pulling in to Worthing... Darius
  10. 8-12 coach trains to and from London work the west coastway during peak hours. At the short platform stations there are announcements that the doors will only open on the front 4 or 6 coaches - with the occasional panic-stricken passenger hurtling down the train at Lancing. Cheers Darius
  11. An antique perhaps (looking at the seller's moniker) Cheers Darius
  12. I once bought a 1:48 Avro Lancaster kit on eBay that was advertised as having “some parts missing”. Upon receipt it transpired that the missing parts were the entire fuselage - just the wings and tailplane were present. After some gnashing of teeth a 1:48 Avro York was born:- https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/319-148-avro-york/ Every cloud... Cheers Darius
  13. Well if it’s not rare, awesome and curried then I’m not interested. Darius
  14. Update - I have received a personal reply from Locomotion (on a Sunday) assuring me that the problem will be resolved, hopefully next week. Considering this is on a Sunday evening they are clearly working hard to sort things out. Darius
  15. I have received an emailed reply to my query to Locomotion as to whether/when the second Stirling Single would be delivered. Unfortunately it was the blanket statement that Locomotion issued a few days ago and doesn’t address my specific issue. Perhaps this is the response that keeps their “response within 5 days” target intact. I was not expecting a response on a Sunday so hopefully I may get a more “helpful” response during the working week. I have to admit that I am not very hopeful about getting one however. Continued thanks for “patience and understanding” may start to wear thin as the days and weeks pass. Darius
  16. Received mine today Cheers Darius
  17. Hi Jamie, I will check next time we are in the shed - this weekend most likely. I first laid the track with the standard Peco Streamline gap (as per their red plastic thingy) but that meant the Mk3 “test” coach was occasionally “brushing” the support pillars at the inside and outside edges of the helix. I have relaid the original track and laid the new track with a closer gap, so as to give a few mm of clearance to a Mk3. This means that two HSTs most likely cannot use the helix simultaneously. We test each revolution of the helix with a trial run. As stated before the Rapido APT cannot use the helix (unless we lay a third track down the centre) and I suspect the Hornby Class 800 would not be able to either. Cheers Darius
  18. It’s the 12” carol playing Christmas tree that makes it art. Cheers Darius
  19. I think the best thing to do now is give Locomotion time to sort this mess out. Frustrating as it is, getting angry won’t make the solution happen any quicker. The one of the two models that I did get delivered to me is the sound equipped version and it is absolutely marvellous. The other one will (hopefully) turn up in due course. In the mean time I have three more Manchester Pullman coaches to make Cheers Darius
  20. I received one of the two Stirlings ordered and paid for this morning - from APC. I have emailed Locomtion to find out whether the second one has been sent separately - hopefull will have a reply soon - and more hopefully it hasn't been delevered to someone else... I received the invoices/payment confirmations (and replacement front coupling chains) for both locos in separately posted envelopes this morning. Darius
  21. No refund for me as yet and no communication from DJM as yet. Presumably if this status does not change it means my payment has been used already. If, as Chris points out, refunded customers choose to walk away and not make a new payment then the project could fail and those whose payments have been used will lose out. As has been said before, that is the risk of crowdfunding, but the current situation means that the risk is definitely not shared equally amongst all the crowdfunders. This may be ok for some of the “disciples” on this thread but it is a poor situation. Darius
  22. Hi Jamie, The helix plan dimensions are as follows:- The tracks are 3rd and 4th radius. Cheers Darius
  23. Two more revolutions on the helix this morning Cheers Darius
  24. Found this on eBay - a diecast “World of Stobart” item. Painted the cabin window frame reveals black to give the illusion of flush glazing and a spot of weathering and here we are:- Cheers Darius
