  1. Now explain where the track embankment has gone between the end of the sidings and the stop blocks !
  2. Don't tell me their model's actually built on a Land Rover !
  3. Looks like it's only the frame on the rear of the skip that's fouled ...... difficult to tell whether it was bent backwards beforehand but it looks to have scraped under the bash beam then jammed under the bridge itself : is there a design flaw there ??!?
  4. While a particular wagon might have been due works attention on 1st January 1923 and could, in theory, have received Southern livery, it's unlikely the appropriate Committees had decided what that livery would be ! .............. there was probably a delay and there may have been wagons turned out in complete pre-grouping liveries or pre-grouping paintwork lettered 'SR' before things settled down.
  5. Hmmmm .... suggests SOMEONE might be ( or might have been ) interested !
  6. ... though Carnforth tried to set a trend with 42085 !
  7. Did you analyse how that translated into numbers of vehicles rather than diagrams ?
  8. .... any evidence of Caley blue ? ........... er .... of any shade ? 😁
  9. M32978M obviously works with Mk1s most of the time so I don't doubt the gangways have adaptors .......... difficult to tell from the mangled remains, though !
  10. Certainly the B1 was soon spinning its wheels at great speed !
  11. Shows how good spring buffers are ......... both locos rebounded much further than you'd expect !
  12. Most locos - on all British railways - were getting plain black repaints at this time ...... IF repainted at all.
  13. ... and a third one with those whopping great spring dampers the Southern used.
  14. I think there's a link to something similar somewhere up-thread !
  15. Carefully designed so that nobody gets run over - by the gate ! ( can you imagine the RAIB report ? )
  16. Probably a fair guess - but unlikely to be recorded in official documentation anywhere.
  17. Thus : -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syJH77RRsHw#:~:text=This level crossing was the,off when trains are due. Weren't there a few earlier barriers that rolled across on wheels ? - also up in the North East.
  18. I think any level crossing 'incidents' are permissible. Doesn't look like the car was 'dragged' very far !
  19. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Railways-Coaches-Standard-locomotive-hauled-illustrations/dp/B0014NWRHG is supposedly correct to 1/1/62 ..... Im not sure about earlier editions.
  20. .... obviously not running from anywhere on the Eastern Region through Vauxhall !
  21. Most definitely not as standard - very few locos were.
  22. Not quite - it was selected for conversion but never modified for some reason ................. and for some other reason it was stabled with the WR Control Train until it was disposed of.
  23. .... not least that leading bus - I've never seen one like that before !
