  1. The winter 1961-62 WTT shows identical timings. The train is described as 3F32 and ran as required (Q). It also ran on Sundays. Alan
  2. Here's is a link to Nantmawr Quarries: http://www.oswestry-borderland-heritage.co.uk/?page=133 It contains a picture of one of the 5 plank Lilleshall private owner wagons.
  3. It is not a silly question and subscription copies have arrived in 2 households I know. Not sure when but think it was before Christmas.
  4. Win 10 anniversary upgrade installed on my Lenovo Idea Pad Yoga 11s last week. The wifi stopped working so no internet connection (no Ethernet socket). I contacted Microsoft Support on Friday who rang me back. The level 1 support guy went through everything I had tried already. The end result was rolling the machine back to an earlier build of Win 10 so everything was back working again. He booked a level 2 technician call for today (I turned down Saturday and Sunday as I was visiting ScaleForum) who rang but he told me a fix might take 15-30 days and the development team are working on it...
  5. Purchased a sheet on Sunday from their stand at Guildex Show, Telford.
  6. Two useful books are: Foxline Scenes from the Past No. 19 Newton Abbot and Torbay British Railways The First 25 Years Volume 4 The South West, Lightmoor Press.
  7. For H F Wheeler photographs try Roger Carpenter.
  8. If only I was sidetracked by research... My layout of Llangynog in EM was first exhibited in an incomplete form attached to the late Tony Jackson's Pwyslab at EXPO EM London in 1985 and then again in 1999 at Watford Finescale in a more complete form and it is still unfinished! I find research absorbing but it does reduce modelling time. I still find this hobby enjoyable and fascinating. I know far less than I know.
  9. In the early 1960s rectangular tank wagons were a common site in goods trains on the Shrewsbury to Welshpool line. The tanks belonged to Midaland Tar Distillers. Alan
  10. I think you will find these bases shrink over time, at least that has been my experience in EM. Alan
  11. Enjoyed the photographs of Salop. Any idea why the middle road has been severed.
  12. This is a standard local authority condition. Its purpose is to ensure local building materials are used so that new builds blend in with existing ones. At one time houses on Anglesey had to be rendered in white. The materials have to be agreed with the local authority, no solicitor involved! I am not a planning officer; picked up this information from knowing one!
  13. Were there underframe differences on left and right hand stock? What I have in mind is the position of the dynamo. On the Bk 3rd LH stock it is under the corridor. Where is the dynamo positioned on RH stock?
  14. I did send the original to corneliuslundie. It was taken from a glass plate negative, date unknown but before 1877.
  15. Enjoyed the photographs. The Duffryn box is a Dutton 4 built box opened 6rh April 1891, unsure of closure date but late 60s/early 70s. It had a brick base and measured 10' by 8'. I once had a cab ride in a 101 over Barmouth Bridge in both directions, absolutely brilliant.
  16. For 4-4-0 see http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/106162-scc-sparkshot-custom-creations/?p=2150141 Re CC Green collection: Much went through Sheffield Railwayana Auctions. Volume 3 was going to be about Oswestry and its Works.
  17. Just building an O gauge shunting plank, approx. 6ft by 1ft 3". The maximum number of small shunting locos (0-4-0 or 0-6-0 tanks) on the layout at any one time would be 3, all sound fitted. What maximum current rating would I need? I am looking for a low cost solution (if possible)! I currently have a Lenz 100 5amp set up but that is on another layout and it is not exactly convenient to move it. Thanks
  18. I have just picked up on this thread. 1. The GWR issued a weight diagram, A.32. This shows bogie wheel dia 3'6", driving wheel dia 6'0" and tender wheel dia 3'10". 2. Wheel bases - bogie 5'6", driving wheels 8'3", rear bogie wheel to front driving wheel 6'6 and a half". Tender 2 X 6'0". 3. I know of no official drawing but one might exist. 4. There is a very strong likelyhood that the late Mike Morton-Lloyd made a drawing in 7mm scale. A Happy New Year to all
  19. The model looks fantastic. What year is the WTT you are basing your movements on? Alan Buttler of Modelu has recently produced Cambrian Railways seat castings. The seats were found on Ellesmere Station. In fact Ellesmere featured one of the few 3 casting versions, 2 castings were more common. I have a photograph of a 2251 working through on milk on the outskirts of Crewe.
  20. The trouble with Penmaenwhataretheycalled is they cause confusion, I assume you meant Penmaenpool. Alan
  21. Route lists were issued by 'sending' company. The delivery of coal from the North Staffordshire coalfield was via Crewe and Whitchurch. Source: Private Owner Wagons on the Cambrian by Mike Lloyd. The RCH published mileage tables which were universally used to calculate rates, it seems no railway company trusted another to measure its mileage accurately! I did find it surprising to see a Foxfield wagon at Barmouth as the Ruabon coalfield is nearer. There are so few private owner wagon photographs on the Cambrian where the name is readable. I have found the situation is even worse for stations such as Portmadoc, Criccieth and Pwllheli where I know of only one postcard which shows wagons from the Wigan coalfield. Alan
