  1. Yes, that's a 2D. As you correctly surmise the offset door into the vestibule, due to the toilet compartment arrangement, proves that it is a 2D.
  2. Funnily enough I was thinking that re the panelling. Then changed my mind. Should've stuck with my original gut instinct!
  3. All seats arranged as 4 around a table. The Mk3s were the first to introduce airline seating. The interior scheme was: Blue flooring; plastic (melamine) side trim and end panels; dark blue table tops and off-white seat backs with blue seat covers.
  4. A lovely selection there, David. As others allude, the TGV is by far the most eye-catching but there's plenty of interesting traction in the other photos as well.
  5. And the cost has gone from €2.806bn (2007 prices) to €8.384bn (current estimate on completion).
  6. Actually, yes. I can see that now. Just missing the rounded cab roof. I think if the 506 design had that incorporated it would look far nicer - sleeker and less functional.
  7. I see it even more now, but the light cluster on the 506s always made think someone looked at a die, scaled it up and stuck some light bulbs in.
  8. Thoroughly fascinating book that, could easily get lost for yonks even though it has absolutely no bearing on what I'm modelling! I love this forum, you never quite know what interesting things people will turn up!
  9. I think they were, at least my brain is telling me they were. No doubt someone will come along in 5 seconds and give me it straight! ;) That's the wonderful thing about this forum, so many people know so many things about so many things!
  10. Not even that, there is only one call at 1640 to Rose Hill Marple presently. The reduced timetables mean the service has effectively become unidirectional.
  11. 8 TGS were modified to run with 91s or indeed any TDM equipped loco: 44021, 44056, 44058, 44059, 44086, 44097, 44098, 44101. Of these five TGS had the Guards end fitted wwith conventional draw and buffing gear, drophead buckeye and two TDM jumpers. The next converted had no buffers, standard HST "Alliance" coupling (essentially fixed buckeye) and two TDM jumpers The final two converted also had no buffers, the standard HST Alliance coupling but also had only ONE TDM jumper on one side only. These final three were also marked something like "Connection to Class 43 or 91 locomotive only, contact control for authorisation connect to any other locomotive type". Possibly due to the lack of conventional drawgear. I've never been able to find a definitive list of which of the eight TGS received which treatment, but I did once see a chronological list of TGS conversions which could perhaps be paired to the information to give the likely situation.
  12. TRFB rather than TRUB by that point but otherwise spot on. Not all the TGS had buffers by the way to work with the 91s. Some gained full conventional drawgear with drophead buckeyes but it was quickly decided that as coupling with the buckeye would be the usual manner of attaching the 91 there wasn't the need to bother with conventional drawgear and I understand only 4 of the 8 TDM compatible TGS were actually equipped with drawgear.
  13. Except DVTs (both Mk3 and Mk4 flavours) only have a conventional drawhook and fixed buffers at the outer "nose" end - no buckeye.
  14. The TP 3-car were 350bhp Cummins, only two-car 158 sets with 400bhp engines existed. The original batch 159s have 400bhp engines and are 3-car, possibly those you're thinking of? The Perkins units are 350bhp as well. The 400bhp variant engines are Cummins.
  15. This is the data from Realtimetrains for the working, passed Pamgbourne at 1508: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:U63939/2022-04-24/detailed
  16. She does look pretty good. What's up with her though? Just one of those unfortunate "weak" units you get?
  17. One thing I've never found out about the Mirfield scheme are the actual speeds - there are references to slow and medium speed etc but not what speed those actually were!
  18. And for increased accuracy, 1 in 4 should be DMU subs, and 1 in 8 should be declared total failures...
  19. Thanks @Flood, you are a mine of information as always!
