  1. someone did and made a right mess of it, ok not a complete mess, but more a mess than success.
  2. i assumed i would be. I see why AS goes for models already out there, your going for almost dead certs in terms of sales, large choice of liveries and prototypes, spans multiple decades of use, makes sound business sense when your new to the industry.
  3. lets revisit this statement on AS 's next announcement which will no doubt duplicate something already out there rather than go for something not done before, but that will be ok.
  4. how smart do they look, bloody gorgeous. I assume its too late for Hornby, they must be p*ssed with the livery change
  5. sorry if this has been mentioned already but i can't find the answer (found someone else asking the question), in the eastener set what are the running numbers for the coaches, looking to pad out the rake and wondering what to add, another brake but not sure on running numbers.
  6. the couple of traders i have spoken to at shows have said Hornby have saved them from them selves, read into that what you will
  7. I agree, if Heljan was serious about TT there are plenty of other stuff make, which Heljan already do in OO. Hornby has shown their hand on what they believe will be the best sellers, as OO has shown though, items you would think won’t sell or too left field cleary do sell, let’s not forget the industrial scene, it’s took off big time in OO, i nice TT industrial layout would be the perfect size.
  8. one less pack of r61077, i'd found 1 pack of r60176 on the gaugemaster site at 7am this morning, by the time i'd complicated my order it was out of stock, so whether it was just pack or not, not sure.
  9. i agree with most of what you are saying, except far superior, i now own both and they are about on a par, at least with the Hornby model i don't have to hack the underframe to allow them to go round R2 curves!
  10. i generally think most of Hornby's stuff from the super detail era onwards is ok, all modern stuff lacks any cab detail and bogie detail (the moulding is there, just needs painting), there is then the shift to 21 pin that will fix their lighting problems, i think their modern image stuff will see these upgrades to existing tooling, would not be surprised to see the 50,56,60 get these "upgrades" this year, through in an odd ball, an era 1 loco and re-liveries and your done.
  11. try finding those barrier wagons, like hens teeth, the HST's will be reduced in a few months
  12. Is 020 also going out to retailers today? Wondering if they will have them this side of Christmas?
  13. i asked earlier in the week, non commission retailers should of been told when they will get them (although mine has not), think rails is next week, happy to be corrected
  14. Hi AS, any update when retailers will get them, i don't mean the exclusives as i think i've read they are going to dispatched early next week, i'd like to support my local and purchase from them but they have no idea when they will arrive.
  15. they look as good as what has been at the shows. can't wait for my set after Christmas, excited to see some on youtube in the next few days, i dont really care who's they are, i've seen the real things and i love them, just be good to see them going round :)
  16. have to say i've seen the loco and rolling stoke at two different shows recently and each time i walk thinking they are stunning. I then remind my self its between this set and the Pullman which does actually exist, not both and so i keep my pre-order for the pullman. you could argue that in 3-4 months time i this will be discounted and so gives better value for money, time will tell though.
  17. whoop...reason found....thank you for your help. order to be placed tonight
  18. these kinda of flew under my radar but on Saturday i saw it running on the Hornby mag stand whilst i was chatting to the new editor. this prompted me to go to the Kernow stand where i stood chatting to a very knowledgeable chap on the prototype. I have to say they are really stunning, the fine detail, livery, finish, just stunning. i've tried to go back through this thread but i fear these fall just out side of my era, mid 30's, to early mid 40's just before nationalisation, unless i go current preserved (but i like the choc and cream livery) i don't think i can really stretch to one when in era stuff is on the way. unless someone can tell me how i cab get away with one (without using rule 1 😬)
  19. Why would they not tell all that an announcement was going to be made, for heavens sake give it a bloody rest!
  20. I’d actually put it another way, it puts out the raging inferno started by the usual suspects on this thread bashing Hornby on an announcement not yet made but jumping to all sorts of conclusions…………
  21. not sold out with Hornby i believe (but retailers don't have many left), it's had got good reviews with very little bad said about it, its a good loco, for Hornby i suspect thats a win
  22. i'm glad you said it, i was going to but feared of been shunted out the door! as is said on other threads, so many loco's to go for, why duplicate? i'm sure it will be a great loco at a good price with the lessons learned from the deltic, but even so.
  23. now that looks impressive, that livery really suits the 37
  24. i have to say i agree, over on the AS thread its full of froth and pant wetting, it will the greatest thing ever and my wallet can't cope, you don't even know what is it yet. Yet over here......someone mentioned about the loyalty schema and hammering the retail again....i'm sorry but any company worth their salt has something similar...why should Hornby be any different? And as for the new start ups supporting the retail, from what i've been told that's not a rosy as it looks.... given the negativity on this forum alone, i don't blame Hornby one bit if they said forgot the forum community, forget the retail, lets go it alone because all we get it from both is grieve.
