  1. Well done for asking . The Bachmann version looking good too !
  2. Photography is a complex subject and also a skill and I think that is something forgotten by many on this thread in their quest to show what is or isn't the definitive model of a class 47 .
  3. Agree entirely. Too much reliance on mobile phone pics . And clearly , you know what you are talking about 👍
  4. That the Heljan model on the right looks like it's done in HO just goes to show how deceiving photography can be . The Bachmann model towers over it . Other pics show that not to be the case . Will make up my mind when I see it in the flesh . I'm not expecting to see the huge discrepancies that are being talked about . The overly large windscreen shelf argument has already gone out of the window ( No pun intended 😉)
  5. About the only thing they got right on that model 😆
  6. Happy to have been proved wrong . They must have been as rare as hens teeth though .
  7. I think my Teddy Bear has the old fashioned wheels but since fitting stay alive along with sound , it gives me no trouble . Same can't be said for the older Hymeks but they will be rewheeled in due course .
  8. The short answer is sadly not . An email to all subscribers explains this is due to logistics/manpower issues. The Sound fitted models will however be available for scrutiny
  9. I may well be wrong but I've never seen a green loco with that crest , always black . So I would say its likely to be black
  10. Cashmore's Newport with the cab of the doyen of class 42 Warships , D800 , Sir Brian Robertson.
  11. Agree that the SLW '25 is the top dog in terms of quality, I have two on order . But delivery times are slowwwww ! Those who can't / won't wait may be attracted to what's currently available.
  12. You're spoilt for choice for DMU sounds . My '121 has Jamie Goodman sounds and it sounds great! Legomanbiffo , Wheeltappers and Digitrains (Paul Chetter) also do excellent sounds that allow manual gear changing . As to what is the best , we'll, that's for you to decide as sound is so subjective . YouTube has clips of all the above to help you make your mind up . My model had a sound chamber to enhance the sound from the speaker but you could do away with it and try one of the many speakers available these days , space permitting ! Hope this helps .
  13. Well , looking at both side on , the overly deep shelf below the windscreen issue has just been blown out of the water. At least that's what my eyes are telling me .
  14. We modellers { myself included } are such tortured souls aren't we . Many a good model dismissed as being not quite right while most of us run it on track that is too narrow , on curves too tight and with big coupling hooks on the front . We are never going to have it all are we. Overly large headcode panel or not , its still a great model and i would buy it .
  15. Had mine running on my end to end layout , it runs beautifully. Cab light a bit bright but I'm sure there will be a CV for it that can adjusted when it's digitised .
  16. Well I've renumbered or relocated double arrows else where on a loco bodyside many a time and have never ruined any of them and I'm not the world's greatest modeller . Unless you're using an angle grinder , it's difficult to see how a model could be ruined
  17. Great video but not for the faint hearted !
  18. I felt quite touched reading that , as if he had written to me personally. Quite sad Hattons are no longer there . All the very best to their former employees .
  19. SLW have put a post out on FB about half an hour ago regarding delivery of models and the various do's and don'ts when deciding whether or not to contact them .
  20. The post does mention fit and finish issues so they're not going to leave out something as obvious as that .
