I wonder if the detached speaker wire had touched something it shouldn't and shorted the amplifier on the chip . I would always test a suspect chip in a loco that I know to be in working order or alternatively, a decoder tester before going any further . HTH

Opinions on sound files for a Class 52 Western?
Albie the plumber replied to Geep7's topic in DCC Sound
My own personal favourite is the Jamie Goodman file available under the Engineman banner from Digitrains . Allows running and on one or both engines which also start individually. Love the sound of the dynastarter howl on engine No1 . The turbo whistle can be heard when hard acceleration is initiated . Great authentic horns too . Legomanbiffo sound file very good too but lacks top end thrash IMO .Still have it on one of my Whizzo's . Others like SWD and Digitrains file on ZIMO chips are good too . Worth looking at YouTube videos at all the above but you know my preference. HTH -
Well , it arrived and overall , I'm pretty pleased with it . It's obviously a returned Kernow model as it comes in that retailers packaging. The body fit still isn't perfect but is IMO , improved as the description suggests . No warping of the running plate. What is beyond doubt is the running qualities of this particular model. It runs as sweet as a nut . No wadling like a duck , really pleased about that . I've included a pic to allow others to make their own mind up about the body fit issue .

Bought these on the Internet. They're made by model.graphics and look much more realistic than what comes in the box IMO . If you PM me , I can send the the relavant domino decals to you . HTH

Very comprehensive instruction sheet . Thanks for posting. Is this a completely new sound file for this loco ? If so , any ideas as who's sound project it is ? TIA

If I remember rightly , it was very well recieved indeed ! Great detailed model that captured the prototype I still have 2 and I think they're great . The working fan was novel and also liked although it affected the running qualities...apparently. When one of mine fell to pieces while in storage , Hornby replaced it . Couldn't fault them . I have one on order with Accurascale so will look forward to comparing them.

Southwest Digital Loksound Loco Files For Free
Albie the plumber replied to two tone green's topic in DCC Sound
I don't think that the established sound creators /providers have too much to worry about . These new projects may well be popular but many modellers with more than one example of the same class will not want a fleet of samey sounding locos. Given that they are not tailor made for a particular brand of loco , you might not get what you bargained for. Will you , for instance get the auto wheel flange squeal that is standard on the Accurascale 37 or the ability to switch various lighting functions individually as one can with that loco ? Agree with Charlie's assertion that the Legomanbiffo projects (amongst others ) are of BMW quality . Bif's '08 sounds Will knock ESU's offering out of the water . Ultimately, you'll get what you pay for . -
I assume FS stands for Ferrovie Statalli or Italian state railways . If anyone is going to do a sound project of that particular loco , it's likely to be ZIMO . Might be worth looking at their list of sounds or maybe speak to one of their dealers . Digitrains is the first name that springs to mind . HTH

Biff may well be able to help you out if he sees this thread. He's always very helpful. It's worth pointing out LB projects are usually set to 28 speed steps . HTH

I am not an expert on 33's or indeed any loco ! However I don't think 33's had tail lights other than the central blind being set to show 2 red lines . They may have also have carried tail lamps . But as delivered , I dont think they had tail lights Happy to be corrected though

While in money saving mode , I decided to do a model rail subscription. It halved the cost of the magazines for the first 6 months plus gave you favourable rates for certain models . Eg the PWM advertised for £152.00 so a few Bob to be saved

These models have been so long off the radar that I completely forgot about them !😬 Maybe we'll see a pre production sample at Warley .

If its anything like other ZIMO sound projects you will hear the clatter of loose coupled wagons when the loco pulls away at less than gentle departure . You will get the same sound effect when the loco stops . If light engine mode is used (F5 I think ) you won't get the sound .
-
Roads and rails has upgraded the sounds with a choice of two speakers , the choice of which is dependent on whether you have the working fan model or the standard sound model .

Sounds like it is going to need surgery . Someone will come up with a solution not that one should have to go to the effort of course .

Legomanbiffo V4 west highland 37 function list
Albie the plumber replied to PaulRhB's topic in DCC Sound
It didn't help that LB sound chips never came with a function list . One had to rely on the lists published on the DC Kits website at the time . Charlie petty at DC kits and slso of this parish should be able to furnish you with the details . The functions were moved around a bit in earlier days as more features were added . The earlier LB projects didn't go much beyond F11/12 if memory serves me correctly. Albie
