  1. Take your pick! Lamps, three link couplings, vacuum pipes, oh and a yellow hosepipe . . .
  2. Saw this at the Cheltenham show on Saturday. It really looks superb, and shows how much can be put in a small space. What are the dimensions please?
  3. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit today. Good to see Phil and his DCC demo, and someone very kindly let me help run (*searches for spelling*) Allt y Graban. Whoever it was that was operating Dock Street Sidings helpfully informed me of various tricks of the trade when it comes to DCC.
  4. I'm not sure what their nickname 'officially' was, but in preparation for its move to the Swanage Railway the other day someone at Bewdley MPD wrote into the grime 'Mr Woodham' on the rods of 34053 'Sir Keith Park' . . . Larry, that Great Western trio looks spectacular
  5. I've had a hectic journey as well today. We've got a holiday cottage in Dumfriesshire that we go to periodically, and today I was returning to the West Midlands from it. As we left in a hurry I was dropped off at Carlisle where soon after the Pendolino came in. The journey was fine until Lancaster, where we were delayed for at least 20 minutes due to this fatality. The WCML can have ripple effects on events like these that reverberate the 200 or so miles from Milton Keynes to Lancaster. Soon though we trundled down to Preston, but here we waited for 45 minutes without much information. Then the journey was fine until Crewe, where the guard said we were waiting for a driver, but about 10 minutes later the service was terminated at Crewe. The Pendolino arrived and terminated on platform 9 at Crewe. The guard told us that the next train to Birmingham was from platform 5 which when I descended the stairs from the overbridge turned out to be . . . a LM 350. Nice though they are, but not long enough to accommodate most of the passengers of a Pendolino. So I had to catch a later train to Birmingham, and arrival at my final destination was nearly two hours later than expected. Despite all this, I must praise all the staff on board the trains and the platform staff at Crewe for how they dealt with a very stressful situation, and having lots of rather angry passengers constantly on you is hard work.
  6. Anyone know if there's anything interesting to do in Lancaster?

3-way footbridge over the water, or walk a couple of miles upstream for a huge aqueduct

Interesting ideas, was delayed there today in a Pendolino while on my way back to the Midlands from Scotland, and was further delayed at Crewe. Nightmare journey today.

seems like there have been problems today all over the place, I was caught up with the cancellations between Rugby and Coventry this morning, but not as bad as this http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/127559-i-am-very-cross/?p=2903388

  7. Or this? Hawksworth Pannier no. 1501 simmers in the Rock loop at Bewdley during this years Autumn steam gala, September 2017.
  8. A DBS class 67 at Doncaster, October 2016. And here both the boiler and buffer beam are painted red, seen on Betton Grange at Warley last year.
  9. My home layout is DC, but I do plan to build a small diesel depot layout with sound fitted WR hydraulics and other diesels.
  10. You can never have too many photos of Westerns. To compliment what's been already posted: 'Western Fusilier' at the NRM a few weeks ago.
  11. Something concerns me about this robbery. As retail prices for products rise (for example, in 2011 a 'Royal Scot' cost £102.75 direct from Hornby, now it costs £169.99 IIRC) is there the danger of more robberies from model shops as less people are willing to pay increasing prices? Just an observation; I'm not trying to accuse anyone of anything.
  12. I watched this programme on Monday night, and found most of it quite interesting. However, having just had my dinner perhaps they could choose more carefully as to when to show (if it must be shown at all) the part where the track gang were clearing the 'rubbish' from the track . . .
  13. So, blue is the colour. SECR P class no. 323 'Bluebell' simmers in the loop at Highley with a short goods train during our gala, September 2017. GWR King no. 6023 'King Edward II' stabled at Loughborough on the Great Central Railway, February 2013. ]
  14. Don't Stop Me Now - Queen "I'm havin' a good time, I'm havin' a good time . . ."
  15. That was just my thought on what might happen. Post now edited.
  16. For today's theme, how about 'locos hauling stock of a different company'? So that could be a Castle hauling a holiday train of LMS/LNER coaches, a DBS 67 hauling the Welsh Assembly Government train from Cardiff to Holyhead, or as seen here, a Southern Region Bulleid 'Battle of Britain' no. 34053 'Sir Keith Park' on our LNER Gresley set, seen at Bewdley, October 2016. And glad everyone here at the SVR is to see 'Skip' going!
  17. I forgot to take some pictures (well I was doing a shift) but at Bridgnorth today the new buffet building is really taking shape, with the bricks now laid to above door level.
  18. Surely you consider the Royal Scotsman luxury? Seen here passing Dalmeny, July 2016.
  19. The prototype class 20 at the NRM a few weeks ago. Pity they couldn't put a bit more effort into presenting this example of a remarkable class.
  20. Sounds a great idea though. Re soundtrack, I'd recommend 'Ticket to Ride' by that very famous Merseyside band: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=70-WSgZn1MQ
  21. Today I went to the NEC obviously not for Warley (unfortunately) but for the Caravan and Motorhome Show. This utilises halls 6-20 and is packed with campervans, caravans but also there were some boat sellers and Jeep had a trade area (well it makes sense to buy your caravan at the same time as something to pull it with). Anyway, to get to the point in those halls the lighting was a heck of a lot better than in hall 5. Only in one of the passageways did I spot the dreaded sodium lighting, and everywhere else was using better quality lights or even LEDs. Perhaps the NEC might change the lighting in hall 5?
  22. That's a possibility, would it be thick enough for the track to be pinned onto it and for some scenery to be added?
  23. No I got mine from a different branch, but the Kiddy store might have restocked. Failing that there's Hobbycraft of Wychbold.
  24. So a visit to The Range yesterday resulted in the purchase of the 'baseboards', shown here with the lid on: And if the lid is taken off you'll see my plan for the diorama drawn in sharpie. Only trouble is I didn't check which way the box is positioned so now when one of the sides is taken down everything is rotated 90 degrees! Hopefully most things I haven't got already that are needed will be purchased at a show a week tomorrow. And finally I have an important question; what would make a better base for the diorama to sit on while it is in the cakebox, cork tiles or man-made wood e.g. plywood?
