    Dapol Class 21/29

Not sure where Rails got that idea, the Dapol catalog says nothing about the 22 having a coreless motor and generally speaking Dapol don't really do coreless motors.
  2. I believe they can with the latest 1.6 firmware however to upgrade it needs to be sent to Hornby.
  3. Neither my TTS fitted Tornado or Maude came with a blanking plug so it seems to be something they've stopped.
  4. Pretty sure Hatton's added that line off their own backs after the model actually released.
  5. It's mostly that the last few factory fitted TTS models have had DC running disabled on their decoders out of the factory combined with Hornby doing specific somewhat desired running numbers/names as TTS fitted only. Wouldn't be quite so silly if like Dapol DCC fitted models they actually included a blanking plug to fit if desired.
  6. F12 is the interior lights for the sound version. It's possible to remap the function away from F2 but it requires multiple CV's and can be a pain to do via the prodigy handset. 100 times easier with some sort of connection to a PC (I use a SPROG) and DecoderPro.
  7. Dapol generally use Gaugemaster DCC23 chips for their 6pin DCC fitted models.
  8. I believe its named after the Huddersfield Station cat (which I think will be one of the stations the 68s/MK5s will serve) and the fact the 68's are sometimes nicknamed Cats due to their engines
  9. Snip some metal off the bottom of the tension hook, had to do the same on mine. Droopy couplings seems to be a Dapol design trait.
  10. Took a couple of months to get a reponse for me, order had been "missed" somehow.
  11. Program the decoder in one coach, remove it from the track, remove it from ECoS, program the second coach. Use that entry in ECoS to run the full unit. Note one coach will probably need CV29 adjusted to reverse its direction for the lights to be the right way round and such.
  12. Just to confirm you are trying to use it on a DCC controller before actually fitting the chip? If so the coreless motor is going to hate you for it...assuming its not dead already.
  13. A LaisDCC 8pin Direct also fits with no modifications. Oddly enough the Gaugemaster and DCCconcepts 8pin direct decoders are slightly too tall. For what its worth you need a 4 function (technically 3) to operate the cab lights (yup, it actually has cab lights) but a 2 function is enough for the standard directional lights.
  14. The Prodigy controllers are rebranded MRC controllers and as per standard US practice F2 is set to momentary so it can't be toggled. The only option is to remap the function to another button.

    SPROG II

The Imperiums are LaisDCC chips so use the LaisDCC 860019 for the 21pin Imperium1 and the LaisDCC 860015 for the Next18 Imperium2
  16. You can't really go much wrong with the £20 Zimo chips (available in 6, 8 and 21pin format) for all the locos you mention. The exception is the Peckett, unless you want to hard wire a normal chip in the only option is Hornby's own 4pin one.
  17. Well this should be entertaining....
  18. Via the form on http://www.modelrailoffers.co.uk/contact Just a general description of the issue and asking if its possible to return for a replacement.
  19. I've started the ball rolling on sending mine back due to the judder/hestitation and noise, bit of a pity cause its a lovely model. No response to my query via the website yet but its not been that long since I submitted it.
  20. Unless its had a repaint in the last couple of years the real Maude isn't even in the NBR livery now.
  21. The master volume on all TTS decoders seems to be a write only CV and can't be read. Don't think I've had any problem changing it on Tornado or Maude using my Sprog in normal programming mode though. Might have to do some testing...
  22. Anyone else notice their J70 slighty stuttering while running? Mine runs great at all speeds but when just running around at medium speed you can kinda see a tiny stutter, more noticable on the wagons its hauling than the J70 itself. I'm using a Zimo MX617N in it, wonder if it needs more CV tweaks for its coreless motor or even a different decoder.
  23. Somehow I get the feeling this "special" decoder is going to be a standard 21pin Zimo or ESU with the correct function output preconfigured for the servo. Theres an entire section in the Zimo manual for the CV's to modify servo behaviour.
  24. Anyone else been as unlucky as me and got a pack with 3 end coaches and no centre one? Somewhere out there is an olive green set with 2 centre coaches and only 1 end coach....lol
  25. Got a Q1 which I think was fine while Tornado was running, will have to test. Unless Tornado has multiple capacitors fitted its attached at the motor instead of anywhere near the decoder.
