  1. Thanks for that Keith very nice, shame they are £24.00 each, they are no doubt on tinterweb somewhere free.I’d gladly pay but £24 is a bit OTT. Station buildings I may be corrected but Victoria Road is/was GWR dates from 1873 when it was the Devon and Somerset. Barnstaple Junction I’ve read two dates 1854 and 1855 when it was the North Devon Railway later taken over by the LSWR in 1865. The station was enlarged and became known as Barnstaple Junction on 20 July 1874 (Wiki) Barnstaple Town dates from 1898 and also LSWR. But the Southern is what I’m interested in after LSWR days. As for Lynton that is another option as and when and if the time ever comes! Better start saving now! Cheers
  2. Blummin brilliant modelling there Andrew captures it very very well, even the apple trees it’s just as I remember it. Particularly photos 3,6,7,8,9 and 14,15 and 16 obviously for me post Beeching without the rails and loco.. Fiveways Farm was Mr. Parsons who owned it always had an old red Fergy tractor to run about on in the 1970s Had one with a cab and tarpaulins, there was a hay cart in the orchard for years blue and red painted it was stood there until it rotted away. Irrelevant I know but your model evokes memories. Cheers Ade
  3. Motion bracket mark2 and my new bench vice and anvil. Triple laminated template and 2 new motion brackets. Bottom of motion brackets had to come off as advised by Dave to make it removable. My new anvil great for flattening out worked pieces . Oh dear! I did know this a while back but got fed up on the cylinders so went on to motion brackets. Drivers left piston lines up with connecting rod, but the right miles out error somewhere. All clamped up for desoldering hair grips useful heat sinks and hold valve chest covers in place when they unsolder due to adjacent heat. Unsoldered enough to realign Resoldering in more correct alignment. Until next time Cheers All comments greatfully received.
  4. Just scroll to the bottom of page and hit Full Version everything there as it should be.Cheers
  5. Just found this Stephen, maybe just what I’m looking for l. The above is what interests me rather than the lift uncoupler. I don’t know if you have done any trials? I think I’m going to have a go, with the hook upside down I reckon a hook height wire on the back of the hook would accommodate the 3 links? Anyway I’ll follow your link in the last post and see what you have done.Cheers Ade
  6. Nice work Robin, keep the updates coming. Cheers Ade
  7. Another vote for a great shed. Looking forward to more. Cheers Ade
  8. Well done Chris will follow over on FB, no convincing you to keep posting updates on RMweb?Interesting to see it become Lower Clent Worcestershire. Cheers Ade
  9. Superb thanks Tom, I’ll order some up and see how I get on.Just one final question they’re H.O.God operation not auto in any way? Cheers
  10. Sorry to bring this up again but is the below what I’m after? 8.01 and 8.02?For coaches locos do you use These? Quote “3 links I now use a different method. I use etched hooks and loose chain from Ambis and make them up quite easily with a pair of pliers. The hooks are a nice size, not as over scale as Smiths though, and they do different hooks for BR, RCH etc.” Any of the above? Cheers
  11. A small selection of images I’ve grabbed from Farcebook. Looking back to the south bank To Bideford left arch to viaduct and Barnstaple Town right arch. Barnstaple Junction Station the one that remains today. Barnstaple Town after closure 257 Squadron coming off the viaduct heading for Barnstaple Junction Viaduct looking north towards Barnstaple Town next 2 photos Barnstaple Junction is on the left, the line to Barnstaple Town curves across the middle top of the photo in a pleasing S reverse curve to the river viaduct. The extensive goods yard is the middle of the photo links to the branch below Barnstaple Junction not far from the link to the GWR station. Giving me more a sense of the place, anyone know the diameter of the column supports on the girder bridge with the x between the two columns? Cheers Ade
  12. JST thanks so much for the comment, you can’t beat someone’s first hand recollection of the way it was. You have added to the topic/thread thanks for taking the trouble.Cheers Ade
  13. Very much so and with the prototype Barnstaple Town it had the Narrow Gauge to Lynton and Barnstaple Railway! Maybe just maybe.I’m resisting the urge to get the lining paper out and see what’s possible! I’m telling myself I must I must build Bredon and Masbury before getting to this!
  14. Cheers Tom first Google of Masonite Screwlinks doesn’t throw up much of a source. It did throw up this layout on Western Thunder lots more reading and admiring to do there. Glad a year later you’ve found it within to crack on. Cheers Ade Edit wording-:
  15. Tom what buffers and couplings are you using and from where? Actually what is you general coupling scheme save me going back and studying the photos! Cheers Ade
  16. Your probably bang on there Phil. Oh for a massive shed and a shed of cash to do the whole thing.
  17. Ok Taw estuary is the setting LSWR and GWR. I’ve not scaled it to see what would be possible, I do know I’ll never have a space big enough so it’ll be essence of. Tracks very roughly. The one following the bank under the words River Taw is wrong I thought on old map a railway line wrong! Out to the estuary. Again ignore the line on the lower bank of the Taw crossing under the Bideford line to Bideford my mistake. A photo from Britain from Above the bridge appears to have a tower and suspension only on the right this in fact the railway behind the bridge curving away to the right bank and station. Today’s view ish! So the plan no river crossing in the town! But a direct link from Bideford and Barnstaple Junction to Ilfracombe was needed so a Barmouth type viaduct was called for crossing the estuary much further out. Later they added a spur back to Town Station when that was later built. A lot of town to be modelled which I would but more fields than town when compressed. These are the maps of the lines etc. Not sure on date, I’d be looking 50s maybe from The Scottish Libary 60s Wadaya think? Cheers Ade
  18. Ian I like it thanks for sharing, afraid to say but mine is far more ambitious! I’ll post some ideas!
  19. Thanks Lambretta, don’t go out your way this may never happen, but planning is enjoyable. Cheers Ade
  20. Killian, Dave was kind enough to share the relevant pages via an online file share. It’s issues 114 to 123 from memory.http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/96567-wantage-tramway-no5-jane-mrj-articles/?hl=%20mrj%20%20wantage?st=0 See post 19 on, I’m sure Dave still has them and will oblige if not give me a shout. Cheers Ade
  21. Loving everything about this, great photo in the link.
  22. I know these minor updates are a tad useless, but it’s a record of the slow progress and recorded before I delete the photos! Look what came from China today got 50 so if anyone needs any I’m your man! Just cover the post. The motion bracket template was unsoldered the slot is to high by a fair bit and needs dropping a touch but Dave’s slide bars will fit. Now I’ve eyed it up with the piston rod. Made a start on the new brackets two blanks soldered together. Not much will be done now, I’ll rephrase that even less will be done now off to Padstow for a week. Cheers Ade
  23. Dave your mad and obsessed! I get you on the overscale thing. How’s the YouTube footage coming along? Cheers Ade
