Absolutely. A stroll over to another forum (Facebook) shows the most common grumble is not fidelity but price. Rich man's hobby etc. Hornby have identified this group as possible buyers so long as the price is right. 'smart price' versus 'finest'. Hornby can bang low fi models quickly and cheaply, beat a competitor to market, fill a demand, nab a few impulse purchases and bank some cash. If demand far exceeds supply, easy to bang out some more.
The mk2 dotty ScotRail coaches seem to be well received, selling out at some retailers. Easy for Hornby to turn on the tap and knock out a few more. I'm sure the Bachmann ones will be lovely, but how much market is going to be left for them?
Fair play to Hornby, they've had some stick and I've given as much as any, but they really seemed to have knuckled down and made some real progress.
