  1. Took a while. Fascinating reading some of the earlier posts. If you look closely, Dave's model is smooth sided. The eBay version has the channel tunnel circular rings. Dave's print is also much more detailed.
  2. This got me thinking - Is there a breach of law here for using something that he did not own to make an item he did not mean to sell? Is it theft if the file was *copied* but not taken? The copying of a few lines of programming language amounts to what exactly? On the face of it, I thought it cut and dried, but thinking about it, I find it less obvious. There are two things that are crystal though - Its bloody weird how this resin model exists Just when you think this thread has run its course, up pops another gem.
  3. Try Derails. Great service, often post free.
  4. I have to say, Accurascale are bloody classy when the subject of competitors comes up. Easy to stride in and have a go, but they never do. I take my hat off to you and feel this attitude bodes well for the models I have on order with you. Cheers.
  5. There's a project kestrel group of Facebook who's aim is to recreate the loco. They may have some resources to help you
  6. The forthcoming grey blue Blue Pullman will be an interesting watch.
  7. Now ATW is defunct, expect those prices to head north. It's a nice model and good value if you can get it at that price
  8. I mentioned along these lines some time ago - tts towns. Can it be beyond the realms of possibility to produce a model of a ?station that includes a speaker and the chip with relevant sounds
  9. Seems the 156 has an upgraded motor and is DCC ready, so maybe not too bad after all
  10. We'll see if it can be advanced further when Accurascale have a go.
  11. Tis a lovely loco, but a shame that the motorised panto is so noisy when this was one of the 'big things' about it. Hopefully a mod will come along for it.
  12. I think it would be worth it, unless you could get a plug in microphone that connects to your phone. I've a few tts 50 chips on pre-order with derails, so it's looking like Friday afternoon may need a trip to coleford. Must stay out of the pasty shop! Then it's a bulk order with roads and rails. I wonder if there is a bakery near Richard??
  13. I'm a big fan of tts, but I've never found that the sound comes over particularly well on video. I know the roads and rails speakers make a massive difference, but in the clip above I struggled to hear much difference.
  14. When I first read your post I thought you may have one of banana bender heljans affected by mazac rot
  15. Separate decoder for the motor
  16. The purpose of smart meters is to enable the suppliers to offer various prices according to when you use electricity. Use it at off peak and its cheaper. Of course, if you want to make a cup of tea at half time in the football, expect to pay a premium. All the rest about energy saving, inaccurate old meters is just rubbish.
  17. It's great to see how these decoders have got people cracking open their locos and doing a bit of modelling.
  18. Maybe. When DJM got going with his J94, I was prepared to believe in the setting higher standards. I was struck my the weathering and let's be fair, it was good for a rtr model where up to that point it was usually a waft with an airbrush. Each model was personally checked before being posted. I have 4 j94s and 2 71s. For me, the wheels began to come off quite early on. The coreless motor and gear train was crap. Despite advice it needed more running in, it never really improved. I read tales of woe from other buyers who opened the box to find it not working, leading me to question just how 'checked' these models were. This wasn't helped by Hattons rejecting the whole consignment of Golden Arrow models due to QC issues. Did nobody check these? I was leading towards pre-ordering a Class 92 from DJM but swore that if it had a coreless motor, I certainly wouldn't. But before the chance to order came about, my confidence was ebbing away. The problems other people were having, the patchy performance I found, the questions about quality control all began to add up and long before the motor details came up, I decided that I had little confidence and kept out. Much as I love the APT, I never once thought of ordering one. Everything was always so vague and up in the air. We had all the previously well covered matters of PayPal, HMRC, websites etc. This all reinforced the feeling that keeping out was a good idea. So here we now are with people wondering what their deposits have gone towards - some got refunds, some didn't on a seemingly arbitrary basis. The website t&c is so obscure that it's worthless except for one key point. The part where he wrote that 'your investment is at risk' was very stark and told me he didn't really know what he was doing. This seemed neither to be a purchase, a pre-order nor crowd funding, but was an attempt to absolve him from responsibility should it fail. The final shocker was the (unsubstantiated) report that he's busy on other forums, yet posts an 'out of office' on his website. It rather reads like an ostrich burying it's head in the sand. Just at the very moment his crowd funders want some information, he's ignoring them. The 'off to China to get some answers' is hogwash. To what exactly - the 92 is supposedly about to tool, the APT is coming along, so what is exactly is the need to get some answers??? I spent a bit of time reading the threads of other projects that Dave was involved with prior to and including DJM and it doesn't take long to see many many parallels. Always a promise of jam tomorrow and when it eventually shows and it's not so sweet, it's somebody else's fault. He was right on one thing though -your money is at risk with a DJM project.
  19. I know, they cable does seem to be on the short side. I fit Megabass speakers to my HSTs so the shortness of the cable is less of an issue
  20. Hi. A number of people swap around what you've done and put the chip under the circuit board and the speaker at the back. This allows you to get a bigger speaker. Have a look at the roads and rails website/YouTube that'll show you this.
  21. Next two weeks for the 50. It's been brought forward

    Hornby 66s

Put a TTS chip into LL 66 last night, swapping the Hornby speaker for one of Richard's megabass. Plenty of room in this and after a little tweaking with the speaker position to lessen the bass, I absolutely love it, the sound is fantastic Off to Derails later to get an EWS version to do exactly the same.
